When I was a DJ at a classic rock station owned by Clear Channel in Maine I could play all the Zep and Pink Floyd (yawn) they could throw at me but could NOT play Helter Skelter, Oh! Darling or Come Together by The Beatles. Used to just piss me right off, the same shit, day after day....

thats the weird thing..i asked the DJ about ...good guy really..about Achilles and he said he thought it might be restricted..not sure why that song would be restricted lol

You are missing the POINT.
Do to my unparaleled influence and respect, i alone have the power to bring this issue
to a sucesful conclusion.  I am really really smart and very well respected by all those involved
in this unfortunate situation.  You can post your thoughts all you want on a public board, but I
am the ONLY ONE who has the influence on the players to make it happen.

bobo

say what??  its always good to use spell check in writing a point -
please tell me what you intend on changing and why do you care? According to Art there is only one choice Heather and he may or may not do a show here or there
What do you have in mind to see happen?
If Art feels he physically is not up to doing a one or two day a week schedule -I get it I think we all get it now God Bless him and i hope his health and family the very best
many people here i think are just worn out with all of it some like heather most DON'T its not personally  against her -its just -there is a real need for a seasoned player for this job
most people here want someone who can excite them to listen
What do you think of heather, where do you stand?  -thanks Bobo

well it seems my local fave isn't quite an iheart station from what i can tell..which is good..but they do still have the same sort of formula..same bands over and over..not so many deeper tracks...for instance...they have a lil 3 shot nightly called Get The Led Out..3 Zeppelin songs in a row..but its rarely anything deeper than say i dunno Bron-Y-Aur Stomp..i keep trying to get the guy to play Achilles but it never gets played but a Kashmir will..so its not..length is the issue lol

The reason he keeps saying no to Achilles is simple, trost. It's over 10 minutes long. He's probably allotted a maximum of 15 minutes for his 3-shot and Zeppelin doesn't really do many songs under 4-5 minutes. Great song though.

During my brief misadventure on Sirius, I did come to like the "Deep Tracks" station.  So nice to hear alternatives to the same old obvious picks.

nope...constantly plays In MY Time of Dying...and Kashmir gets played often as does Stairway which..while still a great song..hearing it so often does get old lol

Well, there goes my theory. When I was a teenager some of the rock stations would sometimes play whole sides of albums past a certain point in the night. I always hated it when stations would do something like play Heartbreaker and then NOT play Living Loving Maid after. To add insult to injury they'd always fuck it up and never stop the first track on time and then would just fade it out at the beginning of Living Loving Maid. Lame  ::)

Sad thing is that it was a dispute over George Noory. I dunno what the hell I was thinking.
Ooooh,  Ooooh... Pick me!  I know the answer!

Yes, this is the internet. I never said it was a corporate controlled board. In fact, I'm glad it isn't. What I said is that about 75% of the posters acted completely retarded when they had a chance to potentially affect the show for the better. There is nothing, and I mean nothing, worse in this world than someone that has a gripe but doesn't want a solution either.
It sounds like in some misguided way you had thought that George wanted to change- wanted to improve the show and would happily work with people who were not completely negative.

To be fair, you wanted to be a voice of reason and be positive.  I fear that you failed to realize that Jorch was already too far gone to reach and the only solution was to join the other inmates.  ;)

Oh, yes, I know.  But MV, has a big heart, to go along with his avant-garde wardrobe.  There's always just one more time.

Best poster ever was Sardondi, and he split long ago.  Sucks, but ya gotta plow forward and make the best of things!

Maybe the best poster here...  Hands down the greatest poster of all was The Professor.  He was only here briefly though, after the greatest George Nooy Sucks thread ever was deleted by the bastards over at GLP.

Good thing you didn't get into with it Coyle.  We would have discovered if Eddie liked dolphin sushi.

Funny enough, Eddie Coyle was the only person on Bellgab that I was afraid to get into a fight with. That said, I miss having him around.

You...had fear?! I don't believe it! You? Guardian of the Gab and vanquisher of trolls afraid? You're just trying to appear more sympathetic and human, aren't you? I mean you were genetically engineered to be a fearless killing machine. It's probably good they didn't give you opposable digits.  :o :D

I think Eddie was immune to cancer via wishing.  He did seem to enjoy a good fight and give it his all.

I saw somebody who said I only care about myself and not the listeners who were with me for Decades, nothing could be further from the truth, I will take to my grave the connection I have felt for those who spent countless late nights with me and were loyal to a fault. Without the support of those of you who loved the show as I loved doing it there would have been no show. I was never in this for the money, not ever, I was in it for the love of doing it, the subjects covered and the joy it brought to those who listened.

One night on an overnight shift I played "And We Danced" by the Hooters for about 3 hours straight.  I had 2 identical carts I was rotating and I drank a fifth of Jack Daniels.  By the end if it I was so hammered that the Sunday AM board op thought I was sick and offered to take my next shift so I could get some rest.  I told her to play that Jesus music and I'd be just fine.

Haha, I remember writing that. Yes, I openly admit that I was wrong about George. I always give people the benefit of the doubt until they give me a reason not to. That's why I never jumped on the anti-Art Bell boat when it was raging deeply in January, I don't have a reason to. The way I see it is that if Art does a show, great, I'll listen. If he doesn't, well, good luck to him and happy retirement. George on the other hand gave me a reason not to trust him when he pulled the Oates shenanigan. It was at that point that I jumped ship because I saw it as bad taste on his and Premiere's part.

Still, I can't believe some of this shit I posted back then.

Though, I will admit, neither Art nor George could possibly smell as lovely as Hoagland. If scent came over the airwaves, that wonderful mix of Brut, Old Spice and Tex-Mex food could make any man question his preferences. His chiseled hair, flowing like the Martian wind over a mesa mistaken for a face, could induce anyone into a euphoria. Who could blame Cronkite for hiring him? Not I. Who could blame NASA for being jealous? Not I, again. Only the claim of spotting Mr. Data's head on the moon could deflate my man-crush for Hoagland, and it certainly did.

We know, Art. It was great to hear you on the air last time and, frankly, you sounded great. Whenever you have a hankering to do another I'm sure you'll have no problem gathering an audience. I look forward to it! Take care and be well.

After listening to you all this time it seems so obvous to me all you just said is true.  I'm sure many others here feel the same.  Others have differing opinions, but I hope you don't focus on them.  I think your body of work, done with sincere joy and passion over the years stands for itself.  Thanks for all the great shows.

While I'm sure it would, no doubt, be good, it would be a bit of a shame and waste though. No one does live radio like Art. It's one of the things we love about him; and I think it's one of the things he loves about doing radio too.

We know Art. I wrote the article for Talker's back during the blitz and I had to sit down and figure out just why I had stuck around as a fan since 1995, even during times when you were off the air. You had some kind of intangible connection with your audience that no other host has ever had I think. It was the fact that you interacted with the audience on a more personal basis through social media, fax machines, fast blast and all the other things over the years that created a very different and more personal feel to your show. I'm not sure people that haven't been listening for decades can really understand that. I also don't think that people like George with their quasi-infomercial corporate styles can establish that kind of a connection. He'll be forgotten a few years after he retires.

Yeah I agree.  I mean I'm sure I'd listen to a podcast, but a live production has a different feeling that can't be reproduced.

I'd think Art might get bored with a podcast.  Too much like talking to yourself.  Of course, that does tend to happen as we age, anyway.

Art,

You always address the negative posts. You seem to obsess about them. I don't think I have ever seen you thank someone that has posted anything that was in support of you. Why address your detractors?  Why not connect with your fans.

Just a thought.
