It seems commercial aircraft and radar tracked a mystery aircraft from Northern California to Washington in October. F-15s were scrambled.

As I read the article the first thing that came to my mind was the NT-43, but Rogoway acknowledges and discounts that a/c later on.  Not sure I totally agree with his logic why it was not "Rat 55", but over the past few years I've gained respect for Rogoway (thanks Steve).  The guy obviously has some good sources, and has shown he's a straight shooter.  If he says it was probably not the NT-43, then I would be inclined to think he has confirmed it, even if off-the-record.

Here is a link to a story he did (and referenced) on the NT-43 a couple years ago, well written and accurate to the extent of my knowledge.  I had never seen that "Rat 55" patch, however.  I think I've discussed the art of "patchology" on BG previously, unit/program patches usually tell a great deal about their mission if you know what you are looking for/at.  Some of them are quite ingenious, although the message is often not so obvious from the outside looking in.

I'm guessing you've read Trevor Paglen's book on the subject?

Back when we had hope that Art was coming back for a while I suggested he get Trevor Paglen as a guest. I think it would have been a fascinating interview.

I look forward to someone figuring out what the mysterious craft was. I will note that "Mount Shasta" was mentioned in the article. Look forward to the woo-woo C2C guests to seize upon that and some kind of new-agey/paranormal explanation of this event.

Yes.  He was a C2C guest with one of the rent-a-hosts, either Knapp or Punnett, several years ago.  For those interested, here is a link to a presentation he gave back in 2008.

That's a bit harsh, considering they're the only good thing associated with C2C for years now.  ;)

That said, it looks like Paglen has been on with Knapp a few times:
