Introducing Windows 10 - the best Windows yet
Quote from: Paul Lilly; MaximumPC
Microsoft skipped a number and announced Windows 10, the OS formerly known as Threshold and the successor to Windows 8/8.1.

According to Recode, Windows 10 is designed to run on a wide range of devices with screen sizes running the gamut from four inches all the up to 80 inches. Microsoft will have a single application platform with one integrated Store to deliver Windows experiences across all those devices.

In order to serve all those devices, Windows 10 was built from the ground up for a "mobile-first, cloud-first world," Myerson added, according to TechRadar.

Why does Windows VP Joe Belfiore have a 13 year old emo girls bob?
Why skip Windows 9, seeking to get as far away from Windows 8 as possible?
Who's going to try it out?
Just looking at Windows VP Joe explains a lot about the state of Windows.
Gag me with a spoon.

I used to be a Macintosh user. I think I will be again.

Well... if you wait a few M$ OS cycles the Mac experience will come to you, so it seems.

Walled garden store... Check
OS Integrated across all devices... Check
Cloud OS data backups... ?? ??

Will they start locking down the OS, like Mac?
Start demanding a login, and automatically backing up to "the cloud."
The Fappening hack part II, except many more people use M$.  ::)

Microsoft’s Asimov System to Monitor Users’ Windows 9 Devices in Real-time

According to a recent article in Zdnet, Microsoft will monitor users in the new Windows 9 Operating System in order to determine how the new OS is used, thus decide what tweaks and changes are need to be made.

During Windows 8 testing, Microsoft said that they had data showing Start Menu usage had dropped, but it seems that the tools they were using at the time weren’t as evolved as the new ‘Asimov’ monitor.
The new system is codenamed ‘Asimov’ and will provide a near real-time view of what is happening on users’ machines. Rest assured, the data is going to be obscured and aggregated, but intelligible enough to allow Microsoft to get detailed insights into user interactions with the OS.

i suppose its win10 now

I've hated every Windows version since XP.
I hate that MS forces mandatory product obsolescence on its consumers.
I hate that MS has rendered my bulletproof 5yr old Canon printer a big silver plastic brick because there's no Win 8 driver.
And I really hate that Gates is worth north of $80 Billion from fleecing the world while pretending to be a humanitarian.
I don't trust Apple as far as I can spit.
I'm not techie enough to try LINUX or one of the other alternatives.

We all know that odd numbered Microsoft OS seem to be the better ones.  What does that tell us about 10?

By default, Outlook will now say "fashinating" for each new incoming e-mail.

i don't see anything new here.  except this guy's ridiculous haircut. but then that's not new.  just silly and oddly feminine.

Everybody hates their OS.  I can't remember the last time I heard someone say they liked whatever they have, which isn't surprising considering all the "upgrades" they regularly force on us whether we need them or want them, and which tend to only make our lives more difficult and frustrating.  It's worse than what The Phone Company did to us years ago.

Wow what a great voice!  I heard in the Pro version it adds "So what have you been up to!"

Catsmile

Windows XP was okay, a long lived decent workhorse of an OS for the masses.
I like Windows 7 Pro 64bit, more stable than XP with better features all around.

So far I don't really see anything that compels me to want to spend over $100 for WinTin.
WinTin... thats what I think I'll call it from now on. WinTin not Win10, I'm off the see the wizard.

Introducing Windows 10 for Business
Introducing Windows 10 for Business

Hello from San Francisco! I’m Jim Alkove, I lead the Windows enterprise program management team. Today, Terry Myerson and Joe Belfiore announced a new approach to the way we plan, develop and deliver Windows, with a first look at Windows 10. Windows 10 is the next generation of our OS that adapts to the devices you’re on and what you’re trying to get done with a consistent, familiar and compatible experience that enables you to be more productive.

A proverb I remember from some Usenet post in the 90's:

Open Windows ... let bugs in.
