you really mean you prefer george over ian?  really?

Dang, that is a hard question!  They both drive me nuts, so I guess it depends on the guests. Ian is smarter, but he hems and haws and stutters and stammers.  Once in awhile, with a good guest, The Snore will keep shut up and let the person talk.  He likes that so that he doesn't need to say anything and tax his little noggin.

But, in the interests of maybe having something going on here, I'd put up with either one of them if I had some company.  It might be fun, who knows?  At least we'd have each other.

wow.  i'm surprised that any modern forum software would even make that possible.  maybe they're not using something particularly advanced over there.

It was a long time ago when I was young and innocent.  Maybe he has upgraded?  But he probably wouldn't want to give up being able to snoop.  What a jerk.

Hello everyone--anyone?  I'm here.  I'll talk your arm off given the opportunity.  All I need is someone to talk to and something to talk about.

What is everyone doing this long weekend?  Party or just family?  Camping? Going to the beach, going to a movie, BBQ-ing at home or at a park?  Staying home safe from all the crazies out there?

Since this is CoastGab, how about all listening to the show together and discussing it or hooting at Snoory when he does is dumb stuff.  I checked the schedule for tonight and of course it is Ian.  He is my least favorite host, but I will listen if I have a companion or two.

I vote for Knapp.
I hated Punnett when he first started, but then I got used to him and even stood up for him when someone put him down because it seemed to me that he really did his homework and many times had even read the book that the guest is pushing.
I'm back to not liking Ian anymore, and don't listen to him.  He stammers and stutters until I want to hit him in the mouth and he is UNfunny and tries too hard with his stupid "jokes".

Several years ago I got banned by BB because of something I said about him in a PM!  Yup, he is such a egotistical @$$ that he reads all "personal" (or is it "private"?) messages.

Well, gosh.  I usually turn Ian off and try to listen to the old Art Bell shows.  No luck for the last few days.  Guess the server is overloaded?  It seems to me that Ian mostly does religion-related topics one way or another.  I don't think his jokes are cute or funny.  My main problem with Ian is that he stammers and stutters and stammers and can't get a whole sentence out of his mouth without the stammer.  Sends me up the wall.  His "Where are you going to take us?" is totally stupid.  Yetch.

Knapp is excellent and clearly is an experienced interviewer.  When he first started, he READ to us for quite awhile before he got on with the show.  He has settled down now and doesn't seem to do that.

I wish we had a lot more Knapp and a lot less Punnett.

It is worse--really worse, right now!  Glynnis McNutly is blabbing away about her F***ing numbers.  I can't get signed on to stream Art's old shows.  That woman is at the top of my HATE LIST.

Maybe I will have to hunt for a danged old movie!

Well, here is the true story:  You can't miss with a Yorkshire Terrier (Yorkie Terror).  My Chauncey is full of hell, tirelessly plays ball, recognizes his toys by name, and will cuddle you to pieces.  He is also quite portable and loves everyone.  If it is cold, he will crawl under the covers up against your back and growl gently at you if you turn over.  He will sit on you and love you tirelessly if you are sad, and you will get more dog kisses than you can handle!  He is without match as a guard dog and will let you know if the least tiny thing is unusual in the neighborhood.  Besides, he is little and won't break you at the grocery store.

Hey and Hi!  Thanks for the invite to return.  I appreciate it.  If the shoe sort of fits this time, I'll try to wear it.  You done good Michael.  I'm still listening and rooting for Art.  Wish he would/could forget the Philippines and come home where he belongs.  I see today that they had a 6-point something earthquake in Mindanao on top of their typhoons, floods, bloody riots, etc.  Surely our problems in the good ol' USA don't compare with all of that.

Every once in a great while Ian comes through for us, and I sure wish we could get more of Knapp if we can't have the real thing!  Sigh.  Last night's show sort of gave me the willies, however. EMP?  Yikes!  Art sounds good, low key and full of it at the same time.

Hugs, Mikey!

thanks for any advice

Interview a mature person and ask what dilemmas they have faced. How did they deal with it--Stop eating, couldn't sleep, got drunk,?  Critique their solutions and outcomes and express your opinions on their results.  How could they have made better choices for the long run?

Now Ms. Puddintame,f you would ever like to have a philosophical, educated discussion or find out why or how you are always free to inquire if you so choose.

Hell no.  You have nothing to offer that might possibly ever interest me.  You are so glib with your incredible ego and obnoxious impression of your "fantastically" clever self that you can spew out your nastiness 24/7 without me.  No contest, Hot Shot.  You win.   Since you know everything about everything and everyone, I will just sit back and watch your brilliance completely dazzle us all.   ;D

God created hate & yes most people love it, it is what makes one religion think it is superior to the next, one person superior to another.

Well, Mr. Centurion 73, I am sorry for you that you are so unhappy with the world and all of it people.  Do you ever have kind words or good opinions about anything or anyone?  Can anyone help with your negative thoughts on every issue or person who is mentioned at all--ever?  Could you step back and look in the mirror and maybe come up any positive comments at all?  It is truly terrible for anyone to be as pitifully miserable as all of your comments make you appear to be!  Poor Baby!

Back to Ian Punnett for a minute.  I have always felt that he gives his very best for C2C.  His preparations for his guests speak well.  Someone on this thread said, and I concur, that at least he to tries to read guests' books and become familiar with their work and points of view.  No one can say that for the GSnoreDope, and that is for sure.  Now that I've commended Ian, I must admit that I rarely ever listen to him--if that says anything about his programs.  He usually doesn't plan many Coast-type shows--or, are the producers or someone doing the scheduling for him?

Geeze.  Did I say that?  I get snarky when I have too many Screwdrivers.  Sorry.

GREAT IDEA!

The only reason i have mine is that I found them (one smallish - one medium) at a tag sale and talked them down to $10 for the pair.

Hmmm.  It was recently observed that most people will eat anything that doesn't crawl off the plate first.

I can't believe anyone voted for Texas. Trust me, I live here, I know what I am talking about. The old joke "if I owned both Texas and Hell, I would live in Hell and rent out Texas" really resonates with me.

On the other hand, if you make at least $80K a year, love shopping, large parking lots, hot weather, mega-churches, more shopping, pickup trucks, man-made lakes, closeted gay Republicans who hate gays, and girls with fake tans and plastic breasts, and did I mention shopping.....? then this is the place for you! Y'all come on down!

OMG, you are so correct.  I "visited" in Texas several times.  I mostly remember sitting for some hours in a brick toilet house when a tornado was forecast.  Luckily for me, that storm went on over to Oklahoma and did them in instead.  Otherwise, Texas has minimal scenery and drivers who are much worse than are California ones--trust my superior  experience.  I never did figure out why, at various times of day, I always hit "rush hour" traffic in Houston. As a female myself, I did think that Texas has a monopoly on beautiful women with marvelous skin, hair, and figures, and I must admit that I was occasionally a wee bit jealous.

Yeah.  Two nights.  I don't care for all of the dumb-dumb caller's "predictions" which are made so that the riff-raff can get on the air, but I will welcome Art's style and good sense.

Anyone's loss of their mother is a major big deal for them.  Please, people, give it some thought and respect.
Have you ever lost your mother?  Mine was a total worthless bitch, but I was hurt and cried when she died.

Well, Michael, I have to agree with you for the most part.  After all of my bitchin' and moaning, I have gotten used to Vista and have found a lot of good stuff about it.  It probably is only what you get used to.  I learned on Windows 2000 Professional, so Vista has been a little tough to get used to.  Whatever, I am woman, I will survive!

OOPS.  Need to modify that post.  I can win only 1-2% of the time on the damn Vista version of Solitaire.  Could they have programmed it that way?  I can win once in awhile elsewhere.   >:(

Your story was awesome. You know I've always been interested in a female version of "on the road" but without the drugs and without the "chick flick"ness of Thelma and Louise. Alaska has been my number one seed so far. Although the winters would be bad for me. I need lots of sun. I've thought about Florida/Louisiana, but the crocodiles and hurricanes = not good combo for me. All I think of is flying crocodiles. Yea i'm mature......

Is it ok to ask where you are now? Where you've settled on after all that traveling?

High dessert in Northwestern Arizona--Kingman, to be specific, on the Old Mother Road, U.S. Rte. 66.  We have probably 30,000 peeps in town plus some in suburbs outside of the city limits.  We have 4 seasons, but nothing too extreme.  It do get hot sometimes, it is a dry heat  ;) but everything has AC.  I had a pool put in a couple of summers ago.  Snowed yesterday, very unusual, as it did in Las Vegas about 100 mi. north of here.  Our shopping resources are lousy, but I sure have learned how to spend money on the Internet.  Laughlin, NV, is about 30 mi. west of here on the Colorado River with many hotels, casinos, water sports, etc.  We have a hospital and they are building us second one, also a nice library, a full-time fire dept., and the traffic doesn't compare with a lot of places.  We have fresh air, unlimited visibility usually--except for chemtrails on some days.  I wanted to be as close to So. Calif. as possible for family and friend visits as I lived there most of my life.  I can't afford Calif. with all of their taxes, high cost of living, etc., and hate their politics.  I suppose we have rattlesnakes, lizards, and tarantulas, but so far not to bother me.  My dog has no fleas here ever!  ;D

Dude!! You have lived the life! That sounds fun. Please share some faves. Would love to read some.

Here are some of my random thoughts and opinions.  I don't like any large city, a lot of snow, nor constant rain.  Tornados and hurricanes freak me out totally.  I am fair with earthquakes, as I have had a lot of experience with them in Shaky City, CA.   Visiting anywhere at the best times of year is one thing while actually living in a place is something else indeed!  Don't tell Art, but I don't care for Pahrump, NV.  It gets hotter than HELL and is, OMG, very windy and desolate.

I spent a week at Trout Lake by Mt. Adams just north of the Columbia River in Washington (by that famous UFO ranch) and saw nary an alien nor a space ship.  It is beautiful and forested in that area, however.
Sutherlin, OR is wonderful, as is Roseburg OR.  Both are pretty and scenic with fresh air.  Portland and Salem are too big and have a lot of traffic.
Sequim, WA, would be a great place to live.  It is on the east side of the Olympic Mtns., so it doesn't get constant rain from the Pacific.
Prescott, AZ would be marvelous if you don't mind some winter.  It is at about 5,000 ft.
Cody, WY. and Kalispell, MT, are both great, but get too wintery.  Brrr.
Don't bother with Dodge City, KS.  It is old and ugly and Marshall Dillon, Miss Kitty, Doc, and Festus are gone.   I got the haircut from hell there in one of their "beauty" shops.
I stayed in Branson, MO, for 3 weeks, but both my dog and I got ticks on us.  Besides, they get tornados and have Water Moccasins or Cottonmouth snakes or some such ghastly critters.  Good entertainment and shopping, though.  Also got ticks in Arkansas with all its of hills and hillbillies (pardon me, Bill and Hillary). Some places in New Mexico are lovely, but you need to check on weather first.  Santa Fe is too touristy, Deming is too windy, Ruidoso gets too much winter and tourists, etc.  The Taos Pueblo is interesting and they sell fantastic Indian Fry Bread!  Yum!

I had a ball in beautiful Alaska in the summertime.  It is very very far and very expensive, but worth it.  I put the motor home on the Alaska Marine Highway ferry and went up the Inside Passage, drove all over AK, and drove home down the Alaska Highway.  I especially liked Valdez (where they moved the entire whole town 4 or 5 miles up the road after the big '64 earthquake).  Yeah, and Wasilla is terrific. Sarah is right about that.  Fairbanks is especially fair, but Anchorage reminded me too much of Los Angeles.  I did my Alaska sightseeing during 3 summer months so I imagine their winters would run me off.  It was even in the 80's in a couple of places.

I got scared out of my knickers in Afton, WY.  It was late in the season in a small Forest Service campground.  There was only one tent on the other side of the campground with a honeymoon couple in it (they had told me that earlier when I was out walking the dog).  After dark there was a terrible loud howling/growling sound that went on repeatedly.   When I looked out the window I saw six young men, totally all dressed in white shirts and pants, run into my campsite and surround my motor home.  I set off the burglar alarm and they all ran, but I got out of there like the Devil himself was after me.  I raced down the short mountain road with pots and pans and all kinds of stuff flying around. I called 911 at a convenience store in my nightgown.  This was before I got my cell phone, which often won't work out in the boonies, anyhow.  Cop didn't act the least bit impressed, but let me park for the rest of the right at a little tourist info. park.  Afton is a 4-minute town.  The cop patrolled up and down their entire main drag and he went by me every 4 min. all night.  I had several cocktails as I watched him go by.  Went on down the road in the a.m. with no breakfast for 50 miles.

Actually, for a woman alone (with a very small pooch) I felt very safe all of the rest of the time all of those years (except that I was scared of bears in Alaska).  I do have a couple of firearms, but they couldn't get into Canada with me. I have slept in many casino parking lots which usually have pretty good food and fun.  Also, Wal-Mart parking lots all over the country are great.  Most have McDonalds on the premises where you can get an Egg McMuffin for breakfast.  I don't like sleeping at truck stops as they are incredibly noisy.  They leave their diesels running all night which I have never understood.  Once, in Kansas, I couldn't find anyplace else to stay but a truck stop and I was tired.  I parked 'way over to the side of the huge lot, away from the big rigs I thought, and went to bed.  Next thing I knew, a huge truck hauling a load of cattle pulled up right next to the head of my bed.  What a night that was with all of the bawling and banging and stinking!   I left there early with no breakfast.  Full-time motor roamers often stay any old place they can find that is free as well as hassle free.  Campgrounds are expensive nuisances and have lots of amenities and services that are not needed for overnight.  I have traveled with clubs and groups which are swell, but I also really appreciate going when and where I choose.  I like the freedom of deciding which way to turn after I get to the corner.

It's absolutely gorgeous and full of gorgeous people including celebrities. You might even run into Snoors! J/K It's also got traffic issues, one thing I am avoiding in my evaluation of these places.

Hmmm.  Well, OK.  How about Port Townsend, WA.?  I love it there.  http://www.enjoypt.com/index.html

I've often thought that Santa Barbara, CA, would be a fabulous place to live.  It has it all, fair weather, sand and surf, mountains, no crowds.  Kinda spendy, tho'.  Sigh.

He is not the only one that is for sure!

Art has been hooked on radio since he was a little kid he has often said.  I can't believe that Ham radio, his little wife and his little kid are all that fulfilling 24/7 for the Master Talk Host.  I have a feeling that he has had a stomach full of Prem. Rad, however, and is only hanging in there until this last contract is over.  No.  I haven't been smoking anything and I hope I'm not dreaming nor thinking too positively.  For awhile I had high hopes for KNYE, but he sold that.  Maybe that was Ramona's deal?  Could he possibly like hanging out, going on cruises, changing diapers, etc. full time?  Doesn't sound like the Art we all knew and loved.
