Interesting and valid points. The qualification though should be noted that Russia is an intrinsic player in the Syrian conflict, and has a vested interest that the Assad regime staves off the opposition. So yes, The west shouldn't get itself embroiled, but neither should any other major country. I think if the west does start taking sides in this, (The UK government has seemingly taken a step back from two weeks ago when it succeeded in persuading the EU to support the 'rebels'; and now Cameron appears to be adopting a more sobering stance), then it could be the start of a wider conflict that will drag in Russia, Israel, Iran, NATO and China.

It looks like we just got dragged into the larger Shia vs Sunni conflict - I wonder if Obama or the rest of his staff knows the difference,or is even aware there is a difference and a thousand year ongoing sectarian war between the two.

We really need to find out how much of our policy making all along has been done by Huma Abedin - The Muslim Brotherhood's (Sunni) apparent asset in the State Dept - and who she really is.

When she was last a candidate for president in 2007, Hillary Clinton unveiled her own health care proposal, which, like Obamacare, included beefed-up benefits and a catchy pitch: "If you have a plan you like, you keep it." Obama went on to defeat Clinton, but he adopted her tag line to help win support for his own health care plan -- making the same promise, for which he recently apologized.

Oh, and what accent is she doing there?
