If she lived next door to me ... fuck the podcast, I would just have live streaming PPV cameras on her place, plus a daily sightings report: minimal outlay+instantdrama = profit!

Julian Assange style? :o

Did you happen to spend time uptown, or down in:

Cuz they take their pseudo-pueblo shopette very seriously! ::)

Funny, I stayed at a resort in that place just a few days ago. Winter rates. Nice place.

Right there, in the pseudo-pueblo? Very cool place. Hollyweird couldn't have built a better set.  ;)

I despise the frantic traffic up the Black Canyon (3rd lane please!) but that pseudo pueblo is heaven under the sycamores.  8)

Oh and:

Gotta love Rio Rico!

Sedona is aight but nearby Cottonwood or Cornville or even Prescott much better. Sierra Vista is too close to the border to feel right to me and without Ft Huachuca as an economic base there would be no real reason to be there, imo.
Hey, Aldous! :-*  Just curious.  Have you ever been through Golden Valley, AZ.?  It's in the Northwest of the state.

Would you believe there were no traffic signals then?  Can't say what is there now.

I say it begs for a field trip!

Might have to stop down to Castle Dome too:

http://www.castledomemuseum.org

What you will see here is a remanant town which stood larger than Yuma in 1878. Her weather beaten buildings remain great day trip in the lower colorado riverin an area little changed from the 1800's. The mills stand silent, housing original boiler, stamp mill, and elevator, as if tomorrow they will awaken to the thunderous roar of steel crushing rock. The boardwalks still creak, the church bell rings out, the five saloons just await the story of their last shootout.

Looks cool.  I stopped in the town of Pahreah a few times and camped overnight at least once.  It is just a little off the beaten path, lies at the very bottom of a canyon, is deserted and washed away, and can be accessed by almost any car.

The scenery was absolutely amazing, and I recall giving my father directions for his bike trip that never happened.  One day I will get back there and sit beside the stream again.  I think the only thing left of the town is the graveyard (if it is still there...)

The big trees in the first picture are around an almost dry creek.  The graveyard is small and fenced, and if you look at the scenery around there, you can imagine the reason for camping overnight.  This gives me inspiration to get the old Westfalia going again.  It was over a decade back that I took that old '78 through the US- and it may be time for another road trip.  Quite the thing to wake up to in the morning.  :)

Wow, that is flat out desert beauty!

Guess what:

http://ghosttowns.com/states/ut/pahreah.html

COMMENTS: Pahreahh is the movie set and about 2 milies farther along the road is Pahreah, the original Mormon town.
REMAINS: Movie set one location and original remains another. UPDATE:
Pahreah was destroyed by fire set by arsonists in late 2006.  People are talking about re-building, but nothing is official as of late.

So you still have a '78 Westfalia? Only one request, punch it out a bit to 1800 ccs so's the rest of us aren't gridlocked when you find a hill... ;D But by all means, do make that trip. And you really do want to drift over into Nevada and see:

Actually by 78 (or maybe it is a 79?) it had the 2.0L engine.  A real power plant and high H.P. output engine.  I will admit that part of what makes me smile when I drive it are how pissed off people get in the merge lane or on single lane highways up the hill.  :)

The last time I was n that national park, the Lehman caves were closed.  The only picture that I have is of a "streak".  There was a chipmunk that would pose until I went to snap the shot, and then he bolted.  This went on for an hour when I finally captured a "streak" that only I can identify as the chipmunk when looking at the picture.  That was good enough for me, and I left the parking lot.

You are right- if I make the trip again, I should probably stop there while they are open.

Oh Lordy, you're granted grace for the 2.0, but Winnebago ire for the hill antics. ;D

Ya know that's freaking hilarious, cuz I'm pretty damned sure I met with that guy's descendants last time I was there, lol!

The mountain goats are slightly less bashful, but from far on high they can afford to be.

You simply must  - just stick to your camper and don't try the single wide casino/motel "The Border Inn" at Baker.

Nothing says "home cooking" like frozen fried chicken dropped in the deep fryer not quite long enough to thaw the innards out.:-(

And I have no doubt the CRT TeeVee still brings in the same two fuzzy UHF stations it did whenI was last there. :-\

Sounds like lodging and fine dining perfection.  Sounds like the cook took lessons from Senda (how comfortable are the toilet seats?)

It also looks like a motel that might rent rooms by the hour in the off season.  ;)

It's a weird place for sure - but when you get up to the park there are actually somewhat nice accommodations and eats to be had. Sadly I see the owners of T&D's have it up for sale. Pity, they made a really nice pesto pizza last I was by.

They said Heathers green light hasn't been on at Facebook, and that Bart thought maybe she would be back on Monday Feb 4th.  Time will tell

Now they are on to the fellow, shot dead going out toward the area 51 area this past week.  There was an article in the Pahrump Times about it.

They said he wasn't connected to Heather.
