Yeah, just turn your monitor sideways.
It worked for me.

My monitor is an old CRT that feels like it weighs at least 50 pounds.  Also, there is no good way to balance it on its side.  Good fix for everyone else, I guess.

edit:  I was close.  51.8 pounds.
