Noory has to go

What?  And ruin all the fun?
At this point, I have to agree.  Coast has, in general, become good for only one thing; ridicule.  Knapp does not seem to want the job and we would end up with Wells full time.  After that we would have to start another campaign to remove a useless dolt and then there would be somebody even worse.  Premiere does not care what listeners write to say or what garbage their hosts spew; they care only for the revenue on their balance sheet.  No, I hate to say it, but coast is only good for a laugh (and will remain so into the foreseeable future.)

Write them all you like- all it proves to them is that you are listening and still engaged enough with the show to care.

It has taken a decade for Noory to wear me down.  Now I listen in quite a few nights simply because it gives me pleasure to see such a public display of incompetence- but I am listening far less than I used to.  I also no longer care what happens to the program and do not really even want it to improve at this point.  There is no hope for having it return to something worth anticipating each night.  The audience has changed, the topics have changed, the feel has changed.  Whatever magic it once had has been spent and the pixie dust spilled, forming an ineffective pile of tarnished silver and adulterated gold on the floor just waiting to be cleaned by a night janitor.

The only reason I want rid of him is because of his bad medical advice and the fact that he provides a ready made audience for quack doctors to push their dangerous ideas.  For that I keep practicing a mass consciousness experiment where I wish severe disability and death on him along with a few other disgusted posters rather than write letters to a station who promotes him and is willing to put up with his immoral actions in exchange for a few magic beans.

Just the same, I wish you all the luck in the world...

I will have to say, at first Noory wasn't tooooo bad - :((( - and I had hopes that as he went along . . . . . well, we have 'went along' - - are you sure he has been in the radio business for awhile - - - couldn't tell it by listening and
I have been listening to coast almost every night since back in 1984 or 5 - when Art was called the X-Files late night talk show - Noory has slapped art in the face - everything Art tried to do for the listeners, Noory has duped - it is about $$$$ for him - and his advertizers are about $$$$ - he has strongly promoted Dr Turi and he is a $$$ grabber as well - I am not sure he is a hoax - time will tell - Noory is worse than ever and when I think he can't get any worse -
it is time for c2c again and - he proves me wrong every night - his heart's not in it - maybe he is too old, he is greedy now - his priorities changed -  what did he move to Califrnia for, to hob-nob with the elites - what has he got to hob-nob about - - Art made him what he is -ART NEVER HOB NOBBED - Art was real -  - maybe Noory is worn out - he is in his 60's and jet-sets between St. Louis and Cal - - - come on Premier - get him out of there - he treats Open Lines callers terrible and coast has to be losing listeners - he is disrespectful and gets gaught up in talking about how great he is/or thinks he is in his own mind - either of the Georges would be great- but George Wells seems to be under some duress - good guy- good host - but something is eating at him - as well as Ian - - something wasn't right with him before the ear tingling thing -  resolve the thing with George or let him resolve it and he would be a number 1 host - either George - but the show is ot the same - she people aren't the same - the astmophere isn't the same - the magic is gone - and George Noory is 1000% RESPONSIBLE for taking it away - - please get Noory out of there -  you gotta save coast -  I don't mean to be mean, but had to speak my mond - thanks for reading, if you read it - - T L Newman - Texas

Letters to the network have been tried many times before for the past 10 years.
But that approach doesn't work with the network, all they care about is the ratings numbers.

The network obviously wants Noory as the main host since he follows their orders completely - the desire of the listeners is not their concern.
So unfortunately you would have to lower the ratings significantly to get the network's attention. :o

John B. Wells is no better anyway and George Knapp has said many times he can't do the weekday hosting - he has his main weekday job as a TV reporter and can only handle  a couple Sunday nights a month.

When Noory took over, he said he would keep the job until the 2012 event.  Now he's talking about staying.
I wonder if Art is the only person who could really host the show - he had just enough scientific background to ask intelligent questions, plus he was interested, and he had an interviewing style that drew out the guest's views, no matter how absurd.

As for money, I worked for Cheap Channel, as we called it.  Money is all they think about.

It was useless. And, of course, much too long. But I feel better. And that's why I did it. Here followeth the letter I sent:

Sir or Madam,

I write as a 10-year listener to CoastToCoastAM (C2C). As a quite loyal listener, I tried very hard for several years to settle in with George Noory. I went with the I-know-he's-not-Art-Bell-but-everyone-is-different-and-he-sure-sounds-like-a-nice-guy approach that I'm sure the majority of listeners during The Transition did. I overlooked George's many flubs; his myriad lapses of concentration; his abject terror of unscreened calls; his inability to listen to what his guests said; his complete lack of awareness that he was asking a question that the guest had just spent 10 minutes answering; his out-of-left-galaxy questions which gave entirely new meaning to the term non sequitur, and threw the guest off his train of thought; his "tone-deafness" as to what was working, when, for example, a guest might have been in the middle of an anecdote about, say, cryptid birds, which was particularly moving or suspenseful, and George would inexplicably kill it dead with a remark about angels or Ouija boards.

All these I experienced, but overlooked. Until finally, three years ago I just couldn't take it any more. From 6-7 nights a week I went to 4-5, then 2-3. until, finally, in late 2010 I just quit altogether. I've stayed an "insider" as that exorbitantly overpriced classification  is known, only to be able to listen to the "Classic Shows" and "Somewhere In Time", a reason otherwise known as "just so I can listen to Art Bell" (which I'm sure Premiere knows keeps a majority of Insiders on board). I even would have dropped that this week if I had not overlooked the auto-renewal date. But listening to AB's shows just makes me cringe all the more if I drop in for a minute to listen to Noory. I may listen to George Knapp (who at least is a peofessional radio host) perhaps one or two nights a month. But for the most part I've been run off the show by the idiocy and incompetence of George Noory.

I have noticed two differences. First is the move to more "serious" matters in concentrating on various conspiracy theories and bringing on fear-pornmeisters like Alex Jones. As for that, all I have to say is, look, no one comes to C2C for serious information. Or rather, if they do, they're lunatic fringe. It's the paranormal, goofy, kinky, weird and scary stuff that makes the audience listen. It's not 60 Minutes so don't try to make it into that.

Second, I've noticed Noory's team has apparently given him "canned" questions. They're prepared beforehand, and sound it, because Noory can't make them seem alive or part of a give-and-take. Even his inability to make them sound like his own questions could be overlooked, but Noory still doesn't know when or where to ask them - he still doesn't understand that these questions can't just be stuck anywhere in the show. So he ruins the flow of a guest just because he's got a question he must ask so he can tick it off his list. But he still doesn't listen to his guests, which is so disrespectful and arrogant. And he still is incapable of conducting more than a child's version of an interview.

Bottom line, I'm just flabbergasted Noory is still hosting this show. Surely Premiere is aware of the web sites devoted to mocking Noory's incompetence. Maybe your own polling tells you all is well. But I don't think so - I think C21C's numbers and revenue are sliding. Maybe you can [pretend there are other reasons. But you've got to be at least open to the possibility of a change of host at the Coast. Surely you have a plan if George tries to hold Premiere up at the next contract negotiation...or if he tries to renegotiate early. From where I sit Knapp would be a wonderful replacement, a real improvement , and surely he'd come full time for the top job. I'd even come back to hear John Wells as a replacement for Noory. Anyone, as long as s/he respects the audience enough to prepare beforehand, listens to the guests, and has enough basic intelligence that s/he knows where to insert a question and when to just shut the hell up.

I just had to register my befuddlement at Noory's continued employment. Please, God, fire him today, and release tens of thousands from the agony of exile.

Thank you.

The reason why as you say it, "Money is all they think about." is because it is owned by Bain Capital and Thomas H. Lee Partners.

Bain Capital is a Boston-headquartered alternative asset management and financial services company that specializes in private equity, venture capital, credit and public market investments.

Thomas H. Lee Partners is a private equity firm based in Boston, Massachusetts specializing in leveraged buyouts, growth capital, special situations, industry consolidations, and recapitalizations.

Founded in 1974, Thomas H. Lee Partners, often referenced as THL or THL Partners, is one of the oldest private equity firms in the United States.[2]. Since its inception, Thomas H. Lee Partners has raised approximately $22 billion of equity capital, investing in more than 100 businesses with an aggregate purchase price of more than $150 billion, completing over 200 add-on acquisitions.

You want to talk about conspiracy theories, you can do a month full of programming just exploring these two companies alone.

So I wouldn't bother writing PR or CC; go straight to the top and bother Thomas H. Lee Partners. Lets all start writing Thomas H. Lee and Partners letters. I don't think they want to be associated with a child molesters.

Actually, I don't want to be associated with a radio host that wants to be associated with child molesters...or who doesn't listen to his guests and then asks questions the guest has just spent ten minutes answering; or breaks the guest's flow by inserting off-the-wall, out-of-left-field, non sequitur questions (because he wasn't listening and because he can't think straight); or endlessly repeats the same, tired anecdotes about his first radio interview being famous nudist Stan Friedman, or that his aunt was Dr. Arugula Spanikopeta, famous for discovering a recipe for goat udders...

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

How could Art's radio show have been called "X-Files" 8~9 years before that TV show came on ?
I guess you mean '94-95.  :-*
