I don't know if there's already a thread for this. Just had a huge crazy ass boom in NorCal. Very strange.

Dutch speaks about it in my Earthquake Forecast thread.
These booms are going on everywhere.  Conspiracy therapists are having a field day on YouTube with this.  Dutch's explanation is more realistic and down to Earth - literally.  It has to do with the building of seismic pressure, particularly near fractured areas such as drilling and fracking sites.  This explanation makes more sense to me at this point but I'm sure more data will be making it's way to the surface, so to speak. :o    ;)    ;D

No, there isn't an official thread for the mystery booms, Aldous.  So now, yours is it. ;)

Record it, if you can and post here. And submit it to LMH at her earthfiles email address ("think about a reporter who files stories about the earth.") But I wouldn't worry too much. Now, if you start to also hear trumpets coming from the sky you might want to start repenting, praying, or at least hunker down.

That's a whole different category there, Albrecht.  Aldous' Mystery Booms are legit, not woo-woo. ;)

So the thing is that I hear lots of "mystery" booms during the summer. I've always figured that they were associated with nearby Beale AFB. But this one was high on the freakiness scale- a long, loud low frequency buildup with a sustained thud and long after-sound. I would estimate 20 seconds of a sound and echo disturbing to one's sense of reason. I called some local friends, one about 15 miles from here, and all agreed about WTF!

Ironically when I checked my emails a few minutes ago, a friend (who would never listen to any paranormal/conspiracy radio shows) had sent me this article.  He was fishing for a "black aircraft creating sonic booms" explanation.  I know nothing about the site or writer, but it's not a bad article.

Several months ago, a friend in Penna. (their license plates used to say we have one) reported hearing one night 3 of what sounded like heavy blows against an external wall of his house.  I wonder whether any people hearing these mystery booms have an impression of proximity which may not be correct.

Not Sure.

I have found the compelling vidya evidences above to be scintillating, however...

I believe LMH has mentioned this story and the blast furnace was the prevailing theory by some interviewees but still unanswered.

I find industrial complexes strangely beautiful. Especially at night.

Same. nothing like a gasworks, quarry, or foundry- working or not. Abandoned silos (both rocket and grain are awesome also.) Also they are all places in which any decent 70s/80s "action flick" is ended in a final confrontation between the protagonist, often with hostage who is saved, and the bad guy.
