Catholicism was first. All the other Christian sects are just less hardcore copycats

Midsommar, when the strong men of the village pierce the earth, now at the peak of her fertility, with a giant phallus, while all the children are encouraged to dance around singing songs about how they are frogs, often in full view of the church.

And they say paganism is dead...

Christianity was just spliced over paganism. And stole a lot from us

You would like, I think, the 'black books' and also the Fiddle stuff (crazy dancing also.) Because supressed by us Christian types, esp of a hardcore Luthern variety but survived and, then with fiddle, much appreciated. The books are like some of the Amish/Mennonite etc types secret n not official and even banned/burnt/kill but 'helpful' so not totally gone. Herbs, healing, midwifery, animal help etc but maybe other...

I will check it out, thanks

I think his book is a good primer or way to reintroduce to folks or younger folks. But the "good stuff" is reading Snorri and various sagas that have the history and the 'mythsv  K_dubb can direct you but I like Hollander  translation for the Heimskringla and the found often cheap paperbacks Penguin Classics for the other sagas and poetry. They also cover stuff into British Isles etc in addition. You also might want to research "Norwegian" or "Scandanavian" & "black books" and also ones found here. Lastly, "Hardanger Fiddle" and tunings and legends. Hope thats enough for a midsommers....

I read the some of Elder Edda in college. But stayed mainly with British lit. Of course, Beowulf.  I love mythology in general.

Btw, Heather is still off the air. The fringe folks are freaking out. The network is playing another show with a male host, on Edwards the serial killer. Really horrible sound, so I assume it's a different LNM show? Anyway, I don't want to hear it, so I'm back to Mr. Winnie.

Always the better choice

No, no gofundme tonight, but if you feel you'd like a sweet mood-lifter, take a few minutes to watch Paul McCartney with James Corden doing carpool karaoke, and then a tour in Liverpool. Funny and really nice! Also Paul twice makes reference to his belief in the afterlife as fact. One's a story about his Mom which led to "Let It Be," and the other a flat statement about James Corden's Dad. Enjoy!

Thanks! I love his car karaoke. I will check this out later

You should read his various Sandman graphic novels that are out there.  I have those stories in the original comic book form.  You'd love  'em.

I downloaded a sample of that to look at

Hey, TL!  ;D How did the summer solstice ceremony go?  I hear those things can get kind of wild!   :D ;)

Very overcast so no stars. But otherwise lovely. No too wild. We did the appropriate amount of dancing and howling

Only to supplement income from making youtube money from clicks eating a tidepod or something awful, otherwise hurting yourself, or you playing a video game. Or youtubes and now 'radio' about opening boxes of stuff people send you. And, of course, webcam porn. The world is insane.

Hi albrecht. I wanted to thank you for recommending Norse Mythology. Just started it but already really enjoying the book. Can't believe I never read anything by Neil Gaiman before. Excellent writer

And George Knapp will be hosting this Sunday on Coast.

First Half: Recent revelations about the Pentagon's secret UFO study have generated headlines, controversy, and questions. Joining George Knapp is physicist Dr. Eric Davis (who worked on the study) and previously studied UFOs and related phenomena, including the Skinwalker Ranch, as part of Robert Bigelow's National Institute for Discovery Science. He'll discuss his work analyzing UFO files, and the latest updates on the now infamous 'Tic Tac' UFO incident.

Second Half: We are just one of ten billion trillion planets in the Universe, and it's likely that many of those planets hosted technologically advanced alien civilizations and each of those civilizations may have faced the same challenges we're facing today. Astrophysicist and NPR commentator, Adam Frank, will share his latest research on the existence and trajectories of alien civilizations and what they may teach us about our own.

One of the first times I listened to Dave he told a story about how he does Batman's voice when he's trying to get the kids to do something. Perfect imitation of Christian Bales. Cracked me up and really impressed me at the same time
