Heh..The truly sad thing is, the first book you linked to probably has more substance than the second.

I once asked a girl I know who likes Twilight to explain the plot to me. Her basic paraphrased response was "Oh, it's so amazing! It's about a girl who risks everything when she falls in love with a vampire!"

To this, I cocked my head and asked.."Let me guess...there are other vampire guys and humans who want her, too?"

"Yes, that's what makes it so interesting!"

"Ah..now I clearly see the appeal."

Have you seen the Bratz movie? It's the scariest piece of shit I have ever seen. It's basically soft porn. I think the next generation will be a giant orgy and we will just have porn on youtube and that's it.

It's because our brain is still basically the same hardware it was 10,000 years ago on the Savannah. Men like visual porn because on a basic level, our brain can't tell the difference between a photograph of the real thing and the actual real thing.

Yet, women DO "read to get horny" and rely on imagination a LOT. So how was that evolution different?  I'm not suggesting men and women aren't different (though there are broader differences between individuals - n matter what gender - then men and women as "sets")  Did their separate roles have a impact on this?

I know we adapt - in subtle was- to this kind of thing quickly.  In the 1940 - 1960 when many ground breaking studies were being done on sexual response -one of the things that was noticed was that was that men found erotic pictures of women arousing becuase the imagined themselves interacting with the women. AND - in an era when blatantly erotic imagery of men was not as radily available as now - women (yes, hetrosexual women) also fund those same picutres aorusing - because them imagined themselve BEING those women.

That guy is a talk radio dj here in DC. Chad Dukes. He called another morning rock zoo show as Lance Armstrong. It is an epic funny interview. He's a perv though.

He is a hero to a lot of guys, I should add. He is constantly criticizing women for the bad things they do, like refusing to help pay for stuff after a certain point in a relationship. He raises issues like these and the calls pour in. He has a co-host named Oscar Santana and they are absolutely hilarious together.
I think the Lance Armstrong interview is available on wikipedia. It's worth a listen. on itunes you can search for Big O and Dukes for their podcasts. If the ones from Arizona are up, I reccomend those. They are so funny. Diet pills is a good one too!
