Loved the episode and the Chris Carter writing. I don't understand the negative reaction to the younger Mulder/Scully characters, pretty amusing really, and I love this actress from her role in "Six Feet Under."

One of the reasons, if I recall correctly, is that he already did it in a previous episode.   Kind of pointless.  It would be better if it were characters that weren't playing off other characters.  I mean, really?

This is how one makes money on youtube apparently.   I'm not sure what to think of this.  Folks, you have to watch at least the first minute of this.  Nearly 8 million views.

I'm ten minutes in the latest episode and I already can't stand the mini Mulder and Scully team. The Einstein woman is overacting in every scene. And a story about terrorism to boot. The series is going in the wrong direction.  I'm actually about to turn it off. Never thought I'd say that about the X Files.
Edit-kept watching and it did get better, though I cannot stand the two kids playing agents. Unbearable.

Agent Einstein was obviously based on a Young Scully, too.  Casting missed its mark on that score:  I found her grating.

Agreed.  Real people don't talk as succinctly as the interaction between her and everyone else.   It could just be the direction.  The end of the episode sequence with her and Miller wasn't a bad scene.   Miller is too GQ for the role, and sounds too young at times to be believable, although again, at the end scene, he was fine.

I liked the episode, the tripping montage was good, and I liked how Scully came up with the way to communicate through ecg monitors.  Scully's voice is still shot though, and damn I still wish she'd just put on like 5 pounds.   The gaunt look does not work for her.

I think with enough time they (duchovney/anderson/carter) could get back in step, so far it's been kind of a rocky road.   Before I watched this episode, I watched the x00 teaser thing and I couldn't believe how much they were congratulating themselves on how great their casting of the extra characters in episode 1 was.   LOL, it was atrocious.

I'd take this Scully look over the current one any day, and it has nothing to do with her age.

BTW, where was this image from, anyone know?  Both of them look better in this image than they do in the show, although maybe it was photoshopped.

Congrats on the cabinet! Have any others?

No, just a bunch of pinball machines.  The monitor needs a cap kit, I think I might pull it and put in a LCD and a pc and run mame on it.  The control panel is easy to swap out so I can make a cool looking mame machine out of it.  Of course, I'll keep everything intact so it won't be a Gorf that can't be a Gorf again.

Thank you for the detailed reply, chron. I do remember some of that
now that you mention it. The only thing I can reply to that is that Lazar did have multiple witnesses who saw the craft in flight, unless of course they are all lying, and that as you mentioned, our knowledge is limited even though we think "we" know a lot. I say we because I'll admit I don't.  I think the best part of your response is that people should consider the gravity waves that were detected similarly to the distortion you'd experience on the crest of an ocean wave as opposed to a light wave, right?  However, I'm still trying to wrap my mind around this... you could easily say that light is a distortion in the electromagnetic ocean, no?

I'm sure I'm showing more ignorance here, but you mentioned the conservation of energy... wasn't there a new space drive recently proven to break that very law? I apologize for not having that drives name on the tip of my tongue, and I'm on my cell so it's hard to look up while responding to this.

Bob Lazar’s description of gravitational waves isn’t correlated with general relativity or the nuclear strong force.  That’s one of the “tells” about his story that reveals to physicists that his model is bogus.  Gravitational waves have been well understood mathematically for decades, and they don’t work the way he says.

I see promise in gravitational waves as a propulsion mechanism for manned interstellar spaceflight, but that's a moot point until we can somehow generate high amplitude gravitational waves technologically.  My greatest hope for a unified field theory is that we'll find a way to generate and amplify gravitational waves in the lab.

Please enlighten me on how Bob Lazar is wrong given that you just said in your second paragraph basically what I believe he has said.   I assume you're talking about "element 115" or whatever that was - that is what the craft supposedly used as fuel.   As far as I know, he never said that the nuclear force and gravity were linked.   He said that there was a device on board that was basically an amplifier that generates gravity waves kind of like a microwave.    I'm paraphrasing, those weren't his exact words.

I recall that Lazar talked about alien propulsion technology based on harnessing anti-gravity, but how does that relate to what I'm asking?

I made the connection to Lazar, not you.   Lazar said in the 80's that gravity waves were the propulsion method, it was the first thing I thought about when they confirmed the findings (actually when AO mentioned the rumors) .

What I don't understand is how relevant looking at gravity waves would be.   I understand it's an important achievement.  I just don't see why it would be that useful, but I'm looking forward to seeing what does come out of it.

It seems as if the limited sensitivity of our gravity wave detectors would also be limitation on research and future learning. It took a massive collision of two black holes to cause a ripple the width of a human thumb, from what I've read. Obviously, we could have a problem detecting smaller events and connecting them to visibly detectable astronomical events, at least for now.

And how might we be able to directly observe and confirm other types of phenomena in the unseeable fabric of space, beyond "movement," if that's the right word? It is a whole other "dimension" we're talking about and there must be lots we can't even imagine.

aside from the connection with Bob lazar, these thoughts mirrored mine exactly

MMMmmm. Art doesn't have to provide squat or diddly. At this late date, just let it go man ;) Somehow I think he'll survive without your "benefit of the doubt" lol  ;D

I don't care, that comment wasn't for me to say Art needs to convince me about anything.   It was to say there is a way he could offer some evidence.   I give him the benefit of the doubt now without any evidence.   I am not 100% sure I believe him, but I will go along with it.   I've said it before, I am not mad at all at him.   He has every right to do what he wants.

in regards to evidence, all art would have to do is show screen shots off his phone of the neighbor's texts.... I know they could be faked but I'd give him the benefit of the doubt

Cool, I don't really remember seeing that one.   You should check out the movie King of Arcades, it was pretty good too.

I almost got the GORF working tonight.. the screen is scrolling horizontally, and doesn't play quite right but I got some sounds and you can sort of see the gameplay which was exciting.   Dusting off a game from 1981 that probably hasn't seen any action since the mid to late 80's is like a time capsule.  It even had an old analog multimeter sitting in the bottom of it.   I know virtually nothing about fixing vids, but I'll get it working.    I really bought it to turn it into a mame machine..  I think it's got cool art and the joystick is the same as Tron.   But I'll keep all the parts so I can put it back into a gorf at any time.

Mr. Fidget, I sent you $20 back in the day and no fidgets.   I don't remember my old address because I was in college at the time - I moved around a lot.   But that $20 could have bought me a few pizzas back then, so yes, it pisses me off that you didn't send them.   Do I just give you my current address and you'll send some fidgets my way?  If not, I think you're just scamming everyone.

I would encourage everyone else who was scammed by Mr. Fidget to come forward.

I thought SV's post was pretty much spot on, even though you really had to wade through it.   However, I also agree with Onan.  There isn't much of a reason to keep beating the Heather thing to death.  You either like her like Zeebo does, or you don't.  But what I took away from SV's post - and I think this really is what is important - is that Art needs to put up or shut up.  Quit or don't quit, but don't leave this open ended bullshit that "I may come back."   I do think the ONLY reason he isn't making a final decision on it is because, as SV says, it's keeping a lot of the subscriber base from dumping her.   I'm not really sure if she has all that many left anyway, but Art certainly doesn't want to see any more leave.    I've said it before and I will say it again - the fact that Art did not immediately refund and unsubscribe people automatically was a shitty move.

I'm kind of surprised that no one is commenting on my points about Keith Rowland.  Why is it that he gets so much ownership of the content?  Why does he get a split of the profits from the show, when all he's really doing is providing a place to stream?  Hell, Art could have done MITD on UFO Ship and it wouldn't have made a bit of difference to any of the listeners.   Why is it that Keith Rowland was allowed to serve up a substandard platform for Art and yet doesn't even give a shit about the show itself?    It seems to me that every time you hear negative shit about the "network", Keith's name is the one that is brought up more often than not.

Maybe I'm beating a dead horse, but it would be nice if someone pointed that out to me. LOL

Also, the rumors around the apparent LIGO gravitational wave detection next Thursday keep on growing:

Huge news if confirmed next week.

Have there been any published false positives from shot noise across multiple detectors?

You must not have looked very hard, because, a) that's barely the lead to this guy's story that he's been spewing at multiple venues for months, and, b) there's a completely rational explanation for this guy's behavior.

Think about it.

Someone just emailed me some more info about him so I'll look at it.  To say I didn't look very hard is not true.  I listened to this guy rant for a couple hours and I didn't get anything out of it other than hearing him rant and playing some of the calls that he made into Hoagie's show.   Honestly, I don't even give a shit at this point, but I hope MV gets his $500.

I hope MV gets this guy's $500.

I do too!  I actually want to hear what the guy has to say, if he could say it in terms that make sense.  I went and looked him up and he doesn't make sense anywhere.   From what I can tell, the guy's only beef is that Hoagland appeared on some VHS tape (UFO Diaries) way back when and Hoagland claims he didn't.  So what if Hoagland appeared on some video, and claims that he didn't?  I don't understand the point.

Anyway, great broadcast MV.  Sorry I couldn't listen live, I would have loved to call in and ask Art more about his management issues, Keith Rowland and the state and operation of DMDN.   What little we did learn about it was definitely interesting.   A couple of things that shocked me - #1 that Keith has ANY ownership in Art's content(!!!ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!?) and #2 that he doesn't want to have any PR management.   My comments on the threads in the past have always been that Art needs a business manager.   After this latest show, it's even more clear to me that that's the case.    And lastly, #3, that Keith is 1's and 0's and doesn't give a shit about the content of Art's show.   That is absolutely insane.  There are so many people out there that could have done a far better job for Art, for less money and no ownership who probably love the content of his show.

Oh well.  Maybe Art will read my comments.  Even if he does though, I highly doubt he'll take any of it to heart.   We're talking about a guy who loves radio and his family but hates having security around so much that he can't just accept it and have both the things he loves, giving up a small bit of personal freedom.   Sad.

We do have to give the guy a break.  He's been in a massive amount of pain lately.    Forgive the little things.. the paper, the washed out screen in the background, etc.  This man has been doing all these videos BY HIMSELF, without ANY help from any of us, and for the most part is never thanked for what he does.   He gives you countless hours of entertainment and usually asks for nothing in return.

People have been saying they have been binge watching recently. I have been re-watching episodes since it went off the air. Everyone has their likes, but this show, even when some episodes didn't measure to other episodes, they were still good.

It was a great show.    S10 E01 was not good.  E02 was better, but still a little forced.  E03 is a bit better than 2, but again something is just not quite right.   I really wish Gillian Anderson would gain a little weight, it would be such a better look for her.  I think she botoxes her forehead too, which looks odd.   Both her and David Douchovney's voices are just absolutely shot. When he chased that monster around the semi truck, it was hard to watch, he's so stiff.   Some of the dialog is still pretty forced, and it's also too nostalgic in its own right - these characters wouldn't be all surprised that there was some monster, by now they would be expecting it.

I think they should have brought the x-files back as an independent investigation thing where they use their FBI ties to their advantage rather than they work for the FBI.   They could have played off the Lone Gunmen and the story would be more believable given how the show ended in season 9.   Mulder could have had his own youtube channel or something to support his endeavors, and they could have used fake updates on youtube as a tie in to the show for promotion purposes.    I'm sure this is part of why I can't stand that first episode.. just no way they'd be back in their old jobs doing the same thing.

P.S.  Don't be forgiving to the man's mother.  Even though HE is allowed to bad mouth her, none of us are in his mind.   She was a piece of shit, and not because she wouldn't give Falkie money when he begged for it.  She was a piece of shit enabling the loser.
