Politics / Pizzagate
November 28, 2016, 03:50:12 AM
How are you all not talking about this?

If you have not heard about pizzagate, watch this video, right now:

Random Topics / Favorite Youtube Channels Thread
October 26, 2016, 03:59:20 AM
Other than, of course, George Senda's TGFP channel, what else do you watch regularly on youtube?  I like Maker's Muse, J Mantzel and NumberPhile to name a few.

I have read this a couple of times and Falkie keeps mentioning it.  Is it true?  Did RCH really quit his own radio show? There is nothing about quitting on the DMRN page, the OSOM page nor the Enterprise Mission site.

Okay folks, I know we're all pissed that Art quit, but this is getting out of hand...

First, go download all of the old shows so that you have them archived.   I recommend using a download accelerator like DownThemAll, a plugin for Firefox. (http://www.downthemall.net/)

Then:

Log into paypal, find a transaction that says:

"Recurring payment to Rowland Network Communications LLC"

Click on that transaction.

Click on the link that says "My preapproved payments." just above the transaction details.

Click on Cancel subscription.

You'll need to confirm the cancellation.

Sorry to lose you Art.  I understand, but it still sucks, and I'm not going to keep paying $5 (let alone $8) a month for access to stuff I can keep on my own hard drive.   No offense Redacted, but your show should be free.

This thread is to keep a log of all the swearing we hear on MITD, even though Art says there shouldn't be any swearing on the show.  I didn't catch it, but apparently the first guest on 7/20/15 said "shit" a couple of times, and Art let through "damn it" from a caller around 35 minutes in on 7/24/15.    What's the worst thing he'll let anyone say without  Do the wild thinging them?

Any thoughts on this guy?  He refused to call himself anonymous, and why would he go on there using his real voice?   What was with him saying hello to Ft. Meade?

Radio and Podcasts / Will Art shares his numbers!?!
July 23, 2015, 01:20:21 PM
I'm hearing from a number of people privately that they tuned out as soon as they heard it was LMH on last night.   I haven't listened to it yet but my guess is its the same old same old and hence she just doesn't carry the numbers that say the CIA spy guy the night before did.

It would be REALLY cool if Art would share his listenership each night, so that we the audience could see who was a winner and who wasn't...  even if he didn't want to give exact numbers, he could perhaps give us a graph of the night to see how many people tune in and out of a show.

I did catch a bit of RCH's program, and he claimed "tens of thousands" of people were listening to him (RCH), which he said Art was impressed with.

Random Topics / Entropy & Houses Frozen In Time
February 24, 2015, 03:01:44 AM
I'm fascinated by pictures of every day things that have just sat there sitting for years and years, with entropy taking it's slow toll.     Here's some cool pictures of a house in Wales.  Check out the cool war map and old radios!

Technology / More government spying bullshit

So apparently (y)our government can read any of (y)our emails without a warrant that are more than 180 days old.  Wonderful.

Radio and Podcasts / The Cat Box
December 29, 2014, 07:36:41 AM

Here it is, the pilot episode of The Litterbox, hosted by Area51Drone and Falkie, The Guy from Pittsburgh.     Sorry for the audio problems in advance - it's our first shot and happened kind of spontaneously.  Hopefully we'll have the audio issues worked out for the next episode.

Trying to play DVDs from my computer on a tablet.  Wondershare Player was working, but now asks for a username and password to access an open share (that ESFileExplorer can see/browse no problem).   Is there any solution that will let me play a physical DVD out there other than Wondershare?   Maybe mounting the SMB share to a local folder and playing it that way?   I'm open to any suggestions.    My tablet is not rooted, btw.

Politics / The Hackening (SONY)
December 02, 2014, 12:24:55 AM
So, I'm curious, do any of you think that reading the hacked internal Sony documents is tantamount to viewing JLaw's boobs from the fappening?    I realize it's a company and not some individual using her face as a jism satchel, but it's still private data out there for the world to see now.    Do you think this kind of hacking is a good thing?   Should there be more of it, less of it?

How To Use BellGab / Some sub-boards not marked as read?

Technology / Best Phone Apps
November 21, 2014, 02:19:18 AM
Just curious what apps people use/enjoy on their phones or tablets.   It's pretty much impossible to find them organically unless you have a specific need, and without the Spec Sheet, I'm pretty much dead in the water since I don't really follow tech feeds.

My latest app purchase was Sky Safari 4 Pro, which is a great planetarium type software.  If you get the right equipment, it will allow you to wirelessly control your telescope.

Technology / Cel phone SIM Unlocking
November 16, 2014, 02:30:15 AM
I'm thinking of switching from T-Mobile to Cricket, but I need to unlock my phones.  I called T-Mobile and for free they'll unlock the two I'm using because I'm "traveling out of the country" but I have three other old phones I'd like to unlock too.    So I'm curious if any of you guys have used any of the services out there, there are a bazillion of them.   Cheap and credible would be best, or if you know of a way of getting an HTC phone unlocked by some other method, I'm all ears. Thanks in advance.

BTW, with Cricket I should save about $10/mo over what I'm paying now, and the Cricket coverage is far superior to TMobile.  I wish there was a Spec Sheet to call in to..  ::)

Technology / Help me pick a new laptop
November 14, 2014, 12:02:41 AM
I'm in need of a laptop.  My trusty netbook just isn't covering it with the small screen resolution anymore.    I need one with at least 1920x1080 native resolution, but hoping to find something sub $400.    More than happy to buy used or refurbished - this machine is just going to basically be a dumb terminal using TeamViewer, so it doesn't need a lot of power.   Screen size is the top priority, and also that it must run Windows.   Should also have bluetooth and wifi built in, but I can't imagine a laptop with 1080p not having that.

Any suggestions?  This is about the closest I have found, but even used it's more like $500.

Random Topics / Getting Free Shit
November 05, 2014, 09:49:36 PM
I'm curious of ways you all might have of getting stuff for free, aside from picking crap up on the side of the road, watching the craigslist free ads, dumb stuff like that.   I'm talking about relatively clever ways to get free stuff - stacking coupons, hacks, etc.

I'll tell you one - if you use bing as your search engine, you can use a greasemonkey script called "Bing Rewarder" that will get you the maximum points per day.   After about a month or so, you should have enough points to get a $5 amazon gift card, or a month of Xbox live, etc.  There are a slew of "rewards" you can cash your points in for.    I've probably earned about $70 so far, and honestly although bing isn't as good of a search engine, it gets the job done.   It isn't a lot, but it does add up and now and then you get to reward yourself with a new game or toy.

Technology / Artificial Intelligence
November 04, 2014, 10:35:29 AM
I feel like these threads should all be merged into one called "AI, Robots, Drones and Self Driving Cars"

This is pretty interesting, although the results of this don't seem to really indicate anything other than some natural language processing skills:

It seems like IBM's Watson already did similar things years ago.

Random Topics / Do you lick the voter's ballot envelope?
November 04, 2014, 05:52:27 AM
When you're voting, do you lick the ballot envelope, or do you wet it by some other means?   I'm just curious because it got me thinking how the government could create a DNA database off the envelopes, if they wanted to.    Unfortunately, I already licked mine, but I'm not sure I will do so in the future.

Technology / Robots
October 29, 2014, 12:37:01 AM
I love 'em, drones, self driving cars, just robots in general.   The last couple of days my son has been dutifully playing with my old Omnibot from when I was a kid.   He even takes his (pretty cool I might add) R2-D2 and tries to get them to interact.  LOL.  I told him they need a Protocol droid to get them to talk.   I'm about to pull out my Radio Shack robotic arm and let him give that a whirl.

And then, today, I read this:

http://apnews.myway.com//article/20141028/us--lowes-robots-a3d7408287.html

Orchard Supply Hardware's OSHbot

This is exciting news!   Just think, going to the store and having a robot that can actually fucking help you and is available to help you, unlike the workers that seem to love to just avoid you at the hardware store at all cost.     Never takes a break, never treats customers poorly, is always willing to walk you to what you're looking for, and can answer many questions these 19 year old girls cannot.   I can imagine a day when you walk into any large box store and maybe the only people you see are working the front cash registers, maybe a stocker or two.    I, Robot here we come!

First she whines and moans about being checked on at the airport.  Now, this gal has got an attorney, and is going to sue so she doesn't have to remain under a mandatory quarantine.    I hope for hers and everyone else's sake she is ebola free, but I find it to be very selfish that she can't wait a few weeks to see whether or not she develops any symptoms.    I mean, really, I feel worse for the businesses that have been ruined by the doctor that has ebola that was gallivanting around than I ever did for her.   If this is the attitude our health care workers are going to have, we might be in some serious trouble.     Great that she wants to go help in Africa.  But my feeling is if you do that, you should understand the risks and the reason for waiting when you get home.

One thing I can say for Kent Brantley is that the guy didn't just get on a plane by himself and fly  home to seek medical treatment like he could have - and as far as I have heard for at least a good while he's driving around the country not flying.    Good sense if you ask me - even if it is just to avoid people being upset that he's on the plane.

In my area there is a doctor who, although is not required to, is supposedly staying home after he just got back from helping out in Africa, even though he does not have any symptoms and says he never had any contact with patients.   I have a family member who works at the hospital in the ER - she told me that if ebola does ever make it to her hospital, she's going to rent a hotel room and not go anywhere except to work and there until the situation is over.

The last three people I've talked about are to be commended.   Kaci Hickox?  Not so much.

By the way, how many of you knew that she worked for the CDC?  Her linked-in profile has been scrubbed.   Something fishy going on.

Random Topics / Are you prepping for ebola?
October 17, 2014, 12:28:46 PM
As some of you may know, I sell stuff online.    I sell all kinds of stuff, but included are emergency food, water disinfectant supplies, etc.   We've had a major rush on this stuff, selling out almost all of it.   Personally, I'm keeping some of it for myself (food/water tablets), and my wife ordered a few tyvek suits for us, face masks, goggles and gloves.   We also picked up some bottled water, although I'm not as concerned about the drinking water supply.   More concerned about having clean water available if we did have to go somewhere so we don't have to stop.   I'm also not very concerned about electricity needs, but do have some gas on hand for our vehicles  so we can avoid going to gas stations if necessary.

But, what we did buy, it can't hurt to have them on hand whether they'll be used or not, and they weren't that expensive when we bought them a week and a half ago.   Of course, we have already prepped many other ways before, just adding a few supplies to the mix.

I'm not saying that the spread of ebola is going to hit my area by any real means, but you never know.

Curious if anyone else is taking any precautions?   If so, what are you buying?

Wasn't quite sure if this should be posted here or in one of the Art Bell Topic forum, but I'm curious, as I'm sure others of you are, about the phenomenon.  There certainly have been times I have felt like I've experienced something before.    If you have any good Déjà vu stories, I'd love to hear them.

Radio and Podcasts / Art's Return to XM in 2015!
October 03, 2014, 05:14:20 AM
Does anyone besides me think it would be a smart business move if Art decided to *give away* his show, at least for a period of time, to both terrestrial and XM radio in order build up his fan base quickly again?   Since he'll just be working for himself, he'll be making all the money from his advertisers.  He really can afford to just give the show away if he so chooses.  With that, many terrestrial stations will carry his show and he will kill Coast to Coast.

How To Use BellGab / Animated avatars?

I've tried making my avatar an animated gif a couple of times, and they never work.  Is it some particular format or size they need to be in?
