No, he wasn't. Bit player and a punch-line at best.

You're denying the actual numbers:

More than 3.71 million people tuned into “The O’Reilly Factor” last week, giving him a 12 percent bump from the viewership he attracted the week before, and up a staggering 28 percent from the same week in 2016, the Nielsen company said Tuesday, according to the Associated Press.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/brettedkins/2017/04/15/bill-oreilly-is-on-vacation-but-fox-news-ratings-remain-high/#759f371d7884

For twenty years, The O’Reilly Factor has been the cornerstone of Fox News’ primetime programming. In the first quarter of 2017, Fox reached the largest audience in its history, and an average of 4 million people watched the Factor each night, the largest audience for any cable news program in history. Ratings remain high despite the current controversy, and O’Reilly does earn Fox over $100 million in annual revenue.

QuoteAnd he's still shitting out a podcast--which is essentially what Rush has been doing for his entire career. Dude became a junkie and went fuckin' deaf and he's still putting it out on blast in the audio medium every week. You don't see Ian Punnet doing that.

I don't see Deacon Punnet doing much of anything save for the occasional weekend fill-in on Coast.

QuoteAbsolutely no comparison. I'll say this for your incessant generation of tedious, pedantic walls of text--at least it's easy to spot the logical fallacies from the first ramblings that gamely present themselves as thesis statements. Kudos.

The fact remains, O'Reilly was the top dog in cable infotainment for 2 decades, deal with it.

QuoteI have been a Michael Savage listener for years albeit not continuously.  My understanding is that he wants to ease out of the business.

No, your "understanding" is pure 100% BULLSHIT!

https://www.americanlibertyreport.com/articles/michael-savage-savaged-to-stop-trump/

Michael Savage is not some over-the-hill personality clinging to relevance. His fierce love for America and take-no-prisoners conservatism has continued to be a beacon to conservative talk radio listeners since he stormed on the scene two decades ago. Savage continues to rake in tens of millions of dollars for Westwood One through affiliates and sponsorships. His show has 14.8 million listeners and is second only to Rush Limbaugh, with his 16.5 million listeners. Laura Ingraham, with 6.8 million listeners, is in the extremely distant number three spot, far in Savage’s rearview mirror.

Ben Shapiro’s most popular YouTube video on his channel has 0.004 percent of Michael Savage’s audience â€" and that is mainly because Shapiro interviewed Tucker Carlson for that episode. (To his credit, Tucker asked Shapiro at one point, “Are you insane?”)

One of the biggest jokes on the right today is about how much that conservative video-hosting site known as YouTube absolutely LOVES the “conservative” Ben Shapiro.

If you are a conservative or at least somewhat right-leaning, chances are that your YouTube channel is constantly flooded with “Recommended Videos” from little Benny Shapiro (and a kooky Canadian professor who works for the UN named Jordan Peterson) â€" even if you’ve never willingly watched one of Shapiro’s videos.

https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2018/12/how-hollywood-invented-ben-shapiro
The night of January 10, 2013, was a triumph for Ben Shapiro, his first big scoreâ€"but Jeremy Boreing, the Hollywood producer who’s the architect of Shapiro’s vertiginous rise, couldn’t get past the wardrobe.

Dressed in a dark junior-banker suit, with his College Republican flop dangling over his forehead, Shapiro, then the editor at large at Breitbart News, had been booked on Piers Morgan Tonight to discuss his new book, Bullies: How the Left’s Culture of Fear and Intimidation Silences America, and to debate gun control. But Shapiro’s tactics revealed themselves shortly after the break, when he called out Morgan for “standing on the graves of the children of Sandy Hook” in order to criticize gun owners. “Honestly, Piers,” Shapiro said, “you’ve kind of been a bully on this issue.” He continued, “You tend to demonize people who differ from you politically.” At one point, he handed Morgan a pocket Constitution to educate him on the Second Amendment. Shapiro was both smart (he has a degree from Harvard Law) and obnoxious (he once described Palestinians as living in “open sewage”), snotty and fearless, and he displayed a preternatural talent for getting under the skin of gibbering libs. Fourteen minutes, and millions of views later, Shapiro had accomplished his goal: he’d gone viral.

As he watched the Morgan hit, Boreing realized that Shapiro’s look, while perfectly adequate for a right-wing think-tank talking head, wasn’t going to cut it in many of the demographics they wanted to conquer. Shapiro quickly agreed to revise the right-wing-dork look, and the makeover began: Boreing and a wardrobe stylist emptied Shapiro’s closet almost completely, took him to Macy’s to re-stock, gave him an objectively better haircut, replaced his personal trainer, and presto, the Ben Shapiro look emergedâ€"a decently-fitted button-up shirt in neutral blues and grays, tucked into better-fitting jeans, and a jacket that didn’t look too expensive. He wasn't exactly a GQ cover subject, but he was, quite crucially, no longer an Alex P. Keaton stereotype. “You can only be good at so many things. Ben is good at a great many things. This is not one of them,” said Boreing. “So, we structure it for him and simplify it for him. That’s why he always looks like Ben.”

QuoteBen Shapiro is Michael Savage with an education.  He represents the future of conservatism.

Wow, you really are a shill for the DS.

https://rightedition.com/2018/12/18/michael-savage-being-silenced-losing-show-to-nevertrumper-ben-shapiro/
Michael Savage, America’s second most popular radio host, appears to be on the brink of being taken off the air entirely and replaced by NeverTrump neocon Ben Shapiro.

Even though Ben Shapiro has been wrong on every issue and his voice is physically painful to listen to, he pushes the neocon agenda Michael Savage will not and therefor is being handed his show.

From Washington Times, “Michael Savage being silenced by ‘corporate censorship,’ attorney says”:

The voice of New York, come Jan. 7, may be no more.

That’s because WABC, one of the city’s premiere, preeminent stations, is poised to boot Michael Savage â€" to deplatform him, in broadcast-speak, said his attorney, Daniel Horowitz, in a telephone interview.

[…]According to Horowitz, who said he’s seen “the emails back and forth” between his client, Savage, and the radio powers-who-be, “The Savage Nation” is actually poised to go dark on WABC on Jan. 7.

And not just on WABC: Horowitz said media powerhouses in Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington, D.C., are all giving the boot to Savage, as well.

[…]In late 2017, Talk Stream Live listed Savage, with 14.8 million listeners, as the second most-listened to top talk radio voice in the nation, behind only Rush Limbaugh’s 16.5 million listeners â€" but far ahead of third place Laura Ingraham’s 6.8 million.

[…]Radio Insight reported in September that Westwood One was “shaking up its weekday afternoon Conservative Talk block” and that “Ben Shapiro To Go National As Michael Savage Cuts Back To One Hour.” The release went on to note that Cumulus just “launched Ben Shapiro on six stations in April including a live clearance on 770 WABC New York and delayed clearances on WMAL Washington DC, WLS Chicago, WYAY Atlanta and KABC Los Angeles.”

Ben Shapiro is the establishment’s best hope for putting the nationalist genie back in the bottle.

While every anti-establishment voice is being censored, demonetized and deplatformed, Ben Shapiro is being pushed by Google/YouTube’s algorithms, given his own show on Fox News and handed Michael Savage’s radio show

QuoteWhy are you even mentioning the above persons in the same breath as Alex Jones?

Why do you think your opinion on ANYTHING matters at this point?

https://www.americanlibertyreport.com/articles/michael-savage-savaged-to-stop-trump/

He sounds like someone stuffed a microphone into the nasal cavity of one of the chipmunks from Alvin & the Chipmunks â€" and then gave the chipmunk some methamphetamines to speed his voice up even more. The same Google-owned YouTube that bans Alex Jones, Michael Savage and countless smaller conservative channels really wants you to pay attention to little Benny Shapiro!

This allows YouTube to sanctimoniously declare that it has no problem with conservative speech. “See! We promote Ben Shapiro! He’s like a sexy combination of John McCain and Mitt Romney among conservative commentators!”

For those who don’t remember, Shapiro’s career started when his daddy got him a job writing conservative commentary on WND.com in the 1990s, when Benny was a little boy. As a teenager, Shapiro was remarkably effective at parroting Republican talking points. The problem with Ben is that he never outgrew that obviously-propped-up child personality stage. He’s still a parrot of the neocon Bush conservatism that America rejected once and for all with the election of Donald Trump.

Shapiro’s schtick nowadays is to read a New York Times article to his viewers, make some sarcastic comments about how dumb liberals are and then move on without fighting or offering any actual solutions. Shapiro never, ever actually wades into the culture war. Sarcasm is the beginning and the end of his routine.

In fact, if you actually try to wade into the culture wars and fight, like Donald Trump or Michael Savage do, little Benny Shapiro will wring his hands and call you a bad person. We mustn’t stoop to the level of liberals, according to Shapiro, by actually winning fights. It’s better to take a knee and surrender the little girls’ restroom to transgenders than to sully our own reputations by protesting these things.

And that brings us to the real reason why Westwood One is willing to de-platform the wildly-successful Michael Savage and instead promote an unpopular Peter Pan type man that spouts approved globalist talking points. Michael Savage is savagely pro-American and pro-Trump. Savage is so pro-American that the British have banned him from ever setting foot in their country, lest he say something to offend their hate speech laws.

Long after the Trump presidency is over â€" hopefully in 2024 with a big, beautiful wall, a Muslim ban and a roaring economy â€" Savage will still be extolling the virtues of America and the Trump presidency. Little Benny the walking unibrow finds Trump and his deplorable supporters revolting and constantly expresses his desire to vomit because of Trump’s hilarious tweets. Although he’ll never publicly admit it, we’re willing to bet that Ben Shapiro, much like the entire staff at the now-bankrupt “Weekly Standard,” voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016.

The fact that Westwood One is willing to commit corporate suicide just to silence a pro-Trump voice like Michael Savage is a terrible sign for America. They hate him so much, they’re willing to take the whole ship and everyone on it down with them, just to stop the president.

It's a purge, they're going to take Rush off too if they can.
