The chaconne/passacaglia (the definitions are a little vague) was perhaps the grandest conception of the baroque era, both in duration and in nobility of expression.  Variations with a refrain that repeat over a more-or-less steady bass line, their sense of grave, unfolding inevitability concluded many French operas of the period as sort of the musical equivalent of Julian of Norwich's "All will be well, and all will be well, and every last thing shall be well."

I happen to like them both, but the second one seemed more "dot, not feather" and the original definitely sound "I will do meatballs from your neck"
