And in the modern computer age it is so easy for someone to make something up that looks good, fake evidence, plant evidence, and so on. Don't trust much anymore.

Consider the advantages of primary research.

You make a lot of stupid inferences. This one's no different.

High winds preceding the cold front that brought much needed rain were responsible for the tragedy that occurred to half of Gatlinburg.  Where I live, winds were very powerful causing the power to go out briefly several times.  The winds were howling for a good 12 hours before the rain appeared.  With the rain though, more fires are less likely and the ones continuing should die out tomorrow when much more rain is forecast.  This has been the worst dry spell that I've ever witnessed in this part of the country.

The Gore types will tell you this is due to the "warming." Having said that you can get into bad cycles, especially during El Ninos, here where we get too much rain (all at once) and get floods and then quick rapid growth of understory and brush and then months of drought and so a spark makes bad wildfires. I hope Dollywood is saved. Had some fun times there. And obviously people's homes, livestock, etc.

This happened because we were locked in a cycle precipitated by El Nino.  The storms were moving to the Northwest of us due to a blocking high off the southeast coast.  The only storm that broke through to give  some of the Southeast a reprieve was when Hurricane Matthew went up along the Southeast coast giving them a nice rain but nothing further inland.  The cycle is finally breaking down now allowing for moisture to feed up from the gulf.

That's really just yours and Al Roker's opinion.

Jerry Brown has just signed a new bill making it imperative that California cows reduce their fart emissions in order to counter global warming.  He has picked Gary Busey as his new agriculture secretary in charge of enforcing these laws.

Get ready!  Major cold snap for the USA starting next week.  Last 3 weeks of December look to be exceptionally cold.  Starts in the West and moves East.  Some modification as the air mass moves East but still cold. Alaska is frigid right now.

I was telling my friend last night about chemical ice nucleation, and he was all, "What?"

There will be a quiz later.

Interesting editorial on Climate Change from a scientist who believes in man-made climate change.  He makes a lot of excellent points.
