Media Matters for America is a web-based, not-for-profit, 501 (c)(3) progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media.

Launched in May 2004, Media Matters for America put in place, for the first time, the means to systematically monitor a cross section of print, broadcast, cable, radio, and Internet media outlets for conservative misinformation - news or commentary that is not accurate, reliable, or credible and that forwards the conservative agenda - every day, in real time.

Using the website mediamatters.org as the principal vehicle for disseminating research and information, Media Matters posts rapid-response items as well as longer research and analytic reports documenting conservative misinformation throughout the media. Additionally, Media Matters works daily to notify activists, journalists, pundits, and the general public about instances of misinformation, providing them with the resources to rebut false claims and to take direct action against offending media institutions.

Bad day for George, triple digit heat in Martinez. Older males who are severely obese suffer the most. It's tragic, makes me want to cry to see anyone suffer as much as George does.

I was reminded of this video, George sitting in front of a fan, naked and expounding on the unfairness of life.

I like Bart and think he is hilarious -- he's about the only person I try to read regularly -- and he has always been kind to me, but somehow I think he got the short end of the stick and might wish he had done things differently and would rather be over here.  What things, exactly, I can't put my finger on -- maybe it's as stupidly simple as the karma points and incessant chatter about them that drove people away.  Or the series of vanity bannings that must have settled old scores from the falkie thread I never followed because I couldn't explain them.  Or championing Schrader for reasons unknown.

I do know what it is like to address what you think is a profound thought to the void only to be met with silence, and it is daunting.  I like to think it is because once I have said a thing there is very little left to be said, but that is my own myth and God knows I lay my share of turds.  Maybe it really is the feedback or lack thereof that is responsible, giving us something like

confident:compassionate

I found Bart to be intelligent and good to read. That said, I don't know that I ever had much for direct interactions with him (good or bad.) Perhaps that is why I was never banned?

As for Karma points- I will say that was one of the worst additions to a forum like this where encouraging discourse and opposing view points should be the goal. I know I actually started paying some attention to them. I would type out a post and know that some useless little bastard would sooner hit "negative karma" than type out a response. I still posted it- but I found there was a little voice in my head thinking about karma that I had to purposely ignore.

I don't mind people disagreeing with me (probably because I know I'm right.) ;) But when you have a feature like that it leads to self-censorship and group think. I had positive karma- but I would have preferred to remain "stuck" at 0.

I forget if there was a "joined date" or a post count displayed with every post- but that was another mistake. I would sooner that a new poster with a count of 10 put up an engaging, interesting post than a guy who was the second poster on the site with 10,000 posts put up another post saying "that's right."

Post counts and join dates encourage people to try driving up their post count and cause people to (consciously or subconsciously) feel as though one opinion should carry more weight than another.

There you have it. I don't hate Ellgab. And I can't say that those are the reasons I don't spend time there (the truth is that I already spend too much time on the net and monitoring a second board does not make sense right now.) However, those two features were piss poor choices.

Anybody is free to knock my karma on that site for this post.  :)

this all started because MV married, had some kids, and got religion. breaks the band up every time......

Any update about when Senda might die?  I am connected with an auction house that will likely be the one to handle his "estate sale" after he croaks.  I am keenly interested in buying the alien head so that I can take a wicked shit in it.

oh the aliens are not gonna like that one bit. no sir. not one bit.

They are grandmasters of hypocrisy when it comes to truth.  All of the usual suspects here have touched upon the idea that I am a government disinformation agent of some kind.  None of them have a shred of evidence to support this, other than the observation that I disagree with their beliefs and consider them intellectually disabled.  It's obvious to anyone who isn't a troofer that there are other explanations for that besides being some spooky man in black, thrilling -- even arousing -- as that notion might be.  The truth, it seems, is lenient when the retard's security systems signal an intruder alert.

Another howler is the constant reference to a "playbook" (handed out to all agents to assist in their persecution, one supposes).  Then, in the next breath, they quote something like this:

5. Sidetrack opponents with name calling and ridicule.  This is also known as the primary 'attack the messenger'  ploy, though other methods qualify as variants of that approach. Associate opponents with unpopular titles such as 'kooks', 'right-wing', 'liberal', 'left-wing', 'terrorists', 'conspiracy buffs',  'radicals', 'militia', 'racists', 'religious fanatics',  'sexual deviates', and so forth. This makes others  shrink from support out of fear of gaining the same label, and you avoid dealing with issues.

A number 5, is it?  From a list to guide you on understanding how to respond to The Enemy.  Would that be a playbook?  Somewhere in that playbook must be instructions to threaten their opponents with injury or death, a regular practice by these Dedicated Seekers of the Truth and not to be found among the Traitorous Disinformation Agents they despise.

A longitudinal study of the conspiracy retard phenomenon makes it clear that they are irrelevant.  They're fuckin irritating, though.  Like poison ivy.

my personal favorite..
Quote16. Vanish evidence and witnesses.  If it does not exist, it is not fact, and you won't have to address the issue.

That free movie app Tubi has The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour show on it.  All of the seasons and all of the episodes except for the first one, oddly enough.  I watched episode #2 of the first season and it was great seeing Glen again.  They had Pat Paulsen on for comic relief and he was pretty funny.  The Monkees were on too but they were lip syncing.  The best part though was Glen, singing solo with his guitar, and no lip syncing.

yep. great app.
