So the question is, for a fringe style show, would you rather the host challenge the guests with respect or just allow the story, inaccuracies and contradiction just slide?

Should the show be total escapism or entertainment with a foot still grounded in skepticism?

Just asking for a friend. ;)

Dave,
"Fringe" is cool. And by all means challenge the BS. Noory has the other option well-covered.

You fuckers are missing it, Karen is live and counting to 21!

...Personally I would like to see guests selected more often from topics that are given as TED talks. Current research and cutting edge ideas. ...

This is a pretty good idea imho.  Perhaps in this sophisticated day and age we need a more reality-grounded fringe?  For instance I love topics like A.I., nanotech, cryonics, transhumanism, theoretical physics, new energy, space travel, genetic engineering, etc.  Maybe intersperse such topics from the scientific/social frontier with some of the paranormal classics.

Other good choices could be obscure history, unsolved mysteries, pop culture themes in books/movies, etc.  So in this case, fringe meaning reasonably-believable but under-covered topics.

Please challenge and correct the guests with respect. If they are disrespectful in return don't be afraid to stand up to them.

Pure escapism is the easy route for ratings and it is what every other host does. I don't know you well, but I know enough to suspect you don't want to be perceived as one of the herd.

With that said, we both know folks like Micheal Shermer and Neil deGrasse Tyson are not entirely correct all the time, either. The truth is in the middle and it is messy.

Promotion of bullshit as factual truth is why I unsubscribed to the previous host of MITD. Namely this proverbial straw:

https://artbelllegacy.com/images/heathermj12document.pdf

Examining the document can be entertainment, a time where we can all learn about real classified documents. Her persistent claims it is genuine when the evidence makes it worse than dubious makes her look like she has lost all objectivity. She begs guests for affirmation of its validity and routinely uses information in the document as a benchmark. Given it has its own tab and was one of the first things up on the website, do you think anything has changed?

This is why I am looking to you, Dave.

There are plenty of good topics and mysteries out there. I'd suggest less of name brand authors and folks on the lecture circuit and more everyday experiencers of events that can coherently tell their story on the radio. All this talk about legacy? Reboot the style of the Long John Knebel days!

Good Dave,

I would like to hear a show about how the world might possibly end. Maybe a guy or gal that goes over various scenarios? That shit allways makes my hair stand on end.

Also. See if Donna Good Higbee is still available. She did a show with Art in 2002 about spontaneous human involuntary invisibility.  That's kind of a "is this real?" Subject.

This is a pretty good idea imho.  Perhaps in this sophisticated day and age kali yuga we need a more reality-grounded soyboy friendly fringe?  For instance I love topics like A.I., nanotech, cryonics, transhumanism, theoretical physics, new energy, space travel, genetic engineering, etc.  Maybe intersperse such topics from the scientific/social frontier with some of the paranormal classics

TED has long been pretentious garbage, soy feed for 'have all the answers but not really' numales and cultural marxists. Hancock exposed them, Sheldrake exposed them, and Hyde destroyed them famously.  Art covered all those topics, even had the patron saint of transhumanism on.

I think this is why her and Heater don't like bellgab. Well one of the many reasons. No one is censored due to their opinion. You can pretty much post any damn thing you want that isn't porn or stated in the bellgab "rules". If they keep allowing people talking sense on their page others might catch on. They have to control the narrative. These IMO are the same type of people who love feeling like they are pulling something over on those beneath them. I am certain that karma will take care of all of this sooner rather than later.
PS is Lasha flirting with guys? Isn't this like the second example of this? I mean she used to be a hardcord lesbian. Good for her. It's always fun to embrace different sexuality.  ;)

Shocking, They are at a state so far gone where someone that is backing her could easily be called a troll if they end up disagreeing with her on the smallest things that don't mather all that much at all.

Really she is going to drive away most of her backers. Everyone has there options and always disagrees on something. So that is a standard that only a mindless drone that buys into everything she says can keep. Sure I'm sure she has a few mindless drones but most likely you can count them one hand.

How about "Science and Fringe Topics"? That sorta covers everything, and mentioning "Science" kinda gives "Fringe" an air of credibility.

And it leaves out "Paranormal" which has arguably been kinda beat to death.

It's not the color girls should be worried about it's size. Little brown ones are better than pink ones the size of a dinner plate.

Paranormal seems limited as we cover more than that, Fringe seems to cover a wide variety of topics mainstream seems to turn a blind eye to without pigeon holing the show to a percieved or limited niche.

Thoughts?
To start, Mr. Winnie, keep at the intelligent questioning and the loons will sort themselves out.  I only see one real disadvantage, that is you may not be able to get some of the interviews with the real loons but entertaining radio guests because they don't want to be called out.  On the other hand, give 'em enough rope...

As for the term fringe, I think it is fine although periphery/peripheral might be a slightly more artistic way of putting it.

Juan

Dave, you need to find and interview Patsy/Harlot.
