always will be trolls on reddit. Will always be butt hurt people not happy their question wasn't answered.

If Art wanted to help himself, answer everything. Spin the troll questions, or troll back. It may be hard answering an AMA on an iphone, maybe assemble a small team who fire the questions at you and dictate your responses. Make the AMA legendary.

I agree with this. Art try to answer every question you can, the folks that read reddit appreciate that. Try to think up a few snappy answers to trolls ahead of time so you don't have to think on the fly. Try to make it epic because even after the AMA ends it will continue to help you as people discover and read it.

It is a virtual certainty that questions about the damned hoax letter will surface. This will surprise anyone who never heard that slander read that libel in the first place.

I posted on the "Blitz" thread about folks submitting questions here first so we can think about them before the AMA. Then, if we see it on the AMA thread on Reddit tomorrow, we can Up vote it to the top for Art.

If all the BellGabbers Up vote the good questions, these troll questions will scroll to the bottom quickly...

Try not to be brief either, the community appreciates that. Just bring a good sense of humor to the AMA and leave the inside jokes of Bellgab, like "Dave", here. Reddit is a respectful community but don't want to be beaten over the head with plugs either, like the Woody Harrelson AMA (which was a total disaster) so keep website links in the first post.

Don't do this: https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/p9a1v/im_woody_harrelson_ama

Just be you, Art. Don't go in defensive and roll with it - treat it like open lines.

Roswells, Art

When I first discovered reddit not too long ago I came across a porn actress ama. (don't judge) I think she was looking for donations or something. She stayed really polite to even the more depraved questions. I think if a young porn actress can handle it Art Bell will have no problem.

LPT: read AMAs from bottom to top x-ref'd with timestamps to learn what subjects a celebrity target doesn't wish to address...

Wow, 6Week...this is very informative! I saw the Buzz Aldrin AMA had very detailed questions, fascinating answers from Buzz and the thread was rocking!  However, the Woody AMA was a complete PR stunt...total fail....I think I get the vibe now of Reddit and how to ask AMA questions...thanks for the tutorial, man!

I wrote this quick copypasta if anyone wants to use it, either Art for the AMA (you'll at least have to post a little bio and your "proof," the photo of you with the paper--mods will probably help you with this) or for anyone who wants to post on Facebook/blogs/Tumblr.

Wanna take a ride? Art Bell is returning to broadcasting with a new show, Midnight in the Desert, on July 20th on the Dark Matter Digital Network. MITD will broadcast free from the Monday through Friday from 9pm-midnight PST/midnight-3am EST. You can download the TuneIn radio app, listen online at ArtBell.com, or hear the show over the air in selected radio markets.

See ArtBell.com for more details and information about radio legend Art Bell’s return to the air, how you can sign up for a subscription membership and access archived shows on-demand, and to see a list of terrestrial radio stations carrying the show. From the high desert, in the great American Southwest...mark your calendars for July 20.

Excellent copy, great job!!

"Treat it like open lines"

Perfect. Art please heed this advice!

"Damn, I shouldn't have posted that. I'll just push this button and the last seven seconds of text will disappear!"

I think there was a film made about this.

Fantastic idea, I'm there. Maybe we could also kick around snappy answers to trolls for Art.

All good advice, it sounds like people in a small Lion Den advising to be careful of the big teeth.

Boy I hope I can get through this. What does it mean you have a better chance if you offer a reward? I am kind of used to Face Book now, know a small bit about Twitter but Reddit is Greek to me, about all I understand is people get to ask questions, sometimes rude I am told. But whatever gets the word out is fine by me.

I am trying to stay up late in preparation for the show, my sleep habits have changed some, the result of my Daughter who loves to get up early.

The Paranormal has not changed but the World has, Social Media being a great example. I think it is a great force for good and evil. The fact that people can say things and not be responsible for them by virtue of the fact that they hide behind avatars or false names gives people the ability to say hurtful things or in some cases true things that need to be said without retribution, so its a mixed bag.

Anyway, bring it on.....

Art

Break a leg & go get 'em.   ;D

oops. typo. of course.

Possible Question:

You have been in radio since an early age, starting with HAM, then a radio engineer, genre introducing talk show host, hugely successful syndication, hall of fame...how has all that experience and passion led to creating a completely alternative web based talk show format and do you think this type of show will be the norm in the future?

If anyone wants to add their ideas in the "Blitz" thread, please do!

While all the advice on here for Art is all well-intentioned and sound, I don't think we should forget that this is Art Bell doing the AMA, not some third-rate radio show host of Lebanese extraction with a dodgy toupee (no names). If two decades of hosting radio shows will have taught him anything, it will have taught him to be quick on his feet, and he will be more than capable of handling anyone out to make mischief.

I agree. You can't blame us for wanting to make it as painless as possible for Art though. I don't like the idea of asking questions here first. That seems convoluted and unnecessary.

I'm still wrapping my head around how he's never heard of Reddit before. Hey, Art, there's this thing called the Georgia Guidestones, it's been around awhile, hopefully someone will call in and tell you all about it!

He's probably heard of it, like me, but I hardly know much more about it than him. It all looks so scruffy on there for one thing, it puts me off. At least it's a bit more ordered on here. When I look at Reddit I feel like I am staring right into the dead eyes of some moronic 19 year old who will faint if he doesn't check his phone every two bloody minutes.

I'd never heard of it, either.  Art and I are the same generation, so I understand.  I'm still thinking AOL IM's were pretty groovy.

No problem, chefist. I just want to make this as simple for Art as possible because he's never used reddit before, which can be intimidating, and this AMA has the widest reach of the entire blitz.

I recommend Bellgabbers keep their multiple questions to one comment each rather than spread them out. Doing it that way should help Art from becoming overwhelmed with comment chains early on.

Reddit kind of sucks. All the responses to anything are either horrible puns that go on for a yard or repeated jokes such as "Well that escalated quickly"
