So you have the right to no decent affordable health care.  Can't make all those big oil barons pay any taxes. Got it

We had the right before the ACA. I was perfectly happy with my HD plan with the HSA that cost me $400 per month. It wasn't available even though Obama promised that if I liked my plan I could keep my plan.

p.s. And even though that was a high deductible plan, the deductible was only $2500. Unlike the $5000 bronze plan.

FIFY.  Might as well say what you really think.

I think big government is every bit as evil as those oil barons you talk about.

I resent the way Obamacare was shoved down our throats by Obama.  He could not get one Republican to vote for it not even moderates.  That should tell you something.

Should I mention Trump* couldn't get his own party to vote for that abomination Trumpcare?  "Best health insurance ever. Everyone covered andwill be happy with their plan. Believe me" Liar

Yeah, it failed because it was bad law.  One big difference between Dems and Repubs is that R's have a more discerning eye when it comes to bad law.  Trump was wrong to support the bill.

What is tells me is they all had premium health care plans, and probably didn't know anyone who was uninsured. Besides, they voted against Obama on everything, why would healthcare have been any different?

Moderates like Senator Susan Collins didn't.  Also there are more moderates in the House than there are conservatives.  Their voices don't tend to get heard because the conservatives talk the loudest.

Please feel free to kiss the feet of the oligarchs who are thrilled to keep you poor, ignorant and in chains. And doing their bidding

Be careful what you say.  The government is more liable to keep you in chains than any other entities.  Wolves in sheeps clothing.  Of course they mean well.  :P   ::)

And the 1% who hold 80% of our wealth aren't? Wish I were so naive

Oh dear.  Here we go with the dreaded 1% argument.  Hey, maybe if the government bothered to bust up monopolies like they did in the old days then there would be a little more levity.  I will remind you that Democrats and Republicans have both shown little ambition to do just that.

Calling TJ a sucker now?  You just lost your credibility on the subject.

... The only solution at this point is healthcare for all. It would not be free, so you can put your hot button "Socialism" to bed. If everyone pays what they can afford to pay based on income and we had group plan pricing, similar to co-ops, I believe it would largely pay for itself, with both state and federal subsidies as necessary.

As long as the medical services are in the private sector, subject to regulation - but not government run or subject to politically motivated price ''controls''.

Insurance co-ops, in conjunction with subsidies, tax credits, tax deductions, etc are perfectly fine.

Why did I think you were for ''single-payer''?  Single-payer is a euphemism for a heavy handed European style system that the government herds everyone but the elites into.  The bureaucracy owns the facilities, decides what equipment to buy, what drugs it offers, hires and manages the doctors, nurses, and staff, and sets prices.

OK, thanks for clarifying that.  You just regained your credibilty. I don't mind being called a sucker because I have been at times.  I would propose that perhaps you have also, yes?

Polls at the time showed 85% were happy with their healthcare insurance, and somewhere around 60% were happy with the price.  For the life of me I'll never understand why they couldn't have simply addressed those who were uninsured or underinsured, and the other legitimate issues that needed to be addressed, instead of creating this whole gigantic unpopular monstrosity.  That's what people opposed.

It was either pure hubris and a greedy power grab, or it was designed to fail, and prime everyone for the above mentioned Euro-style ''single-payer'' as the ''only alternative''.  Probably both.

Right!  Set up a program for those that are uninsured if they wanted to help them.  There was no need to subject the whole country to this monstrosity.

They could have given everyone that wasn't covered a catastrophic care policy for much less than the abomination they came up with. They should have left existing plans alone. The government mucks up everything they touch.
