Ok I admit this is pretty weak for a Knapp show, but trust me tomorrow nite you'll be wishin' for it back.
Quote from: zeebo on January 19, 2015, 01:19:26 AMAt least the bumper music is good. This has been like listening to Lionel Fanthorpe, the dark side.
C'mon man, this just doesn't sound like you.
Quote from: AvDaBr on January 19, 2015, 01:10:09 AMI'm not planning to order any hitmen on-line anytime soon.
Not even Knapp can do much with this. Pretty boring topic/show so far.
Quote from: Catsmile on January 18, 2015, 07:16:22 PMExactly what I'm afraid of. Just leave it at the original classic series.
Speaking of flashbacks... I hear they want J.J. Abrams to do the reboot.
For starters Mulder & Scullys basement office will look like the Apple Store, with 1000% more lens flares. Then he will wipe his ass with X-Files canon, and have lots of action, explosions, flashbacks, flashforwards, and flashsideways.
Mulder will be actively bi-sexual, even though he and Scully have been married for 8 years. Mulders main male squeeze will be Director Skinner, which will be offset by the fact Scully has been having a 4 year secret affair of her own... With alternate universe Skinner.
J.J. will stretch out these tidbits for 3 seasons, between the hype and lens flares.
Quote from: coaster on January 18, 2015, 01:34:56 AMIt was perfect for cold, dark Friday nights.
It would be nice to see an X-Files reboot but I doubt it would be as good as the original. I loved that show.
Quote from: Uncle Duke on January 17, 2015, 11:23:46 PMGood points. The original was a hit not only due to the actors but also because it was creative, different, and had an edgy vibe, with good stories. I wouldn't mind some similar storylines, but I'd really enjoy something different with VERY creative writing. I'd hate to see the current Hollywood crowd just do the usual formulaic approach for a new series. It would be like watching what PremRat and Noory have done to C2C.
If "X-Files" comes back, I will not be surprised if it goes the same route as "Dark Matter". Not predicting it will fold in six weeks, but I do think the show faces the exact same issues that made Art's return to radio a non-starter almost from day one.
First and foremost, the genre has been over done. TV is saturated with paranormal programming, both reality and drama; the same thing applies to conspiracy theory programming. What was a novel, once a week look into the unknown is now on multiple times a night on a myriad of channels/networks. Further, the two technological advances "X-Files" played up back in the day, the internet and cell phones, are no longer a "gee whiz" source of wonderment to the average TV viewer as it was 20 years ago. Today's kids are going to shrug their shoulders when the "Lone Gunmen" find/hack some obscure website, then call the agents in a dark alley somewhere via cell to let them know.
Fans of the original show will watch initially for nostalgia purposes, but soon will realize the concept is dated and they've grown beyond it. Just like "Dark Matter", it will retain a vocal, loyal following that will slowly fade. I just hope Carter/Duchovny/Anderson et al don't whine/point fingers/quit when their audience numbers go tits-up
Quote from: Morgus on January 17, 2015, 08:23:29 PMThanks, Morgus. At first I was reading this as "he'd lost his brain" until I got to the part about him getting a new one and finding out it did a lot more.
Yeah it fell out of his loose jacket pocket at an airport.
But he checked their lost&found the next day and somebody turned it in, but he had already bought a newer model phone at a Verizon store and found it did a lot more than his old one.
Quote from: Pele on January 17, 2015, 03:44:14 AMWelcome! Drink often.
I haven't been here since Art left Sirius. I expect it will take time to get used to the culture of the board, but I'm kinda drunk so I just wanted to introduce myself and say Hi! I was greatly disappointed in the Sirius experiment and I am eagerly looking forward to July. I started listening around 1995 so I guess I am a somewhat of an old timer. I was fortunate enough to hear Mel's Hole and Area 51 live. I can't wait for July. I hope it sticks.

Alright I have to sleep now...
Quote from: zeebo on January 16, 2015, 02:50:11 AMEnjoy, Zeeb! Just repeat to yourself "there is no Noory, there is no Noory..."
You have described a perfect Sat. schedule which I shall steal.
Quote from: popple on January 16, 2015, 11:21:57 PMI'll have to admit I might listen a bit just to see how Jorch screws this up. "Up next! Jorch's latest trainwreck!"
I can't wait for tonight's show. I'm sure we'll see some amazing tattoos through the radio and find out why people get them. It has been such a mystery until now.
Quote from: At the stroke of midnight on January 16, 2015, 08:22:57 PMAnd/or irrelevant. If a guest is actually interesting, Jorch'll derail it with some oddball, off-topic comment. A degree in Communications? Ha,ha,ha, right.
Ghoulish George only asks for details if it's something morbid.
Quote from: Juan on January 15, 2015, 05:34:03 PMI hope the kids receive the proper training and are issued CCLs (Concealed Can Licenses). Or is it open carry?
Soon we'll need can control.

Quote from: HorrorReporter on January 15, 2015, 01:36:02 PMHas Jorch asked his mother to cut-off the milk and cookies to CH yet? :
Just tuned in to hear George say that CHARLIE HEBDO was bad for attacking Catholics and Muslims and the Jews.
