Need lighted keyboard recommendation

     For years I have been using Deck keyboards. Their design and build quality are superb. My opinion of them has not changed but the model of keyboard I used to use (the Legend) has been discontinued by them, and the new one I bought, while of outstanding quality, isn't laid out quite like the other. My fingers keep falling on the wrong keys and I can't really type without looking as I used to be able to.

      So I'm in the market for a new one and thought I'd ask for recommendations. I use it in a dark room at night so the backlighting of the keys needs to be real good.

Get a legal or library type lamp and a good keyboard. Ha. Idk about light because I can type but there are many types of keyboards out there. How much are you typing? And what is your "feel?" And are others around when you are using? I still use the 'older' school switch stuff because it feels more better (wait? That is not grammatically correct.) But louder! but I think better typing speed and feels better. There are lots of options though and you can find different layouts (depending on language, I guess, but even US/UK diff.) I would imagine with the interwebs easier to buy. I know the price varies the better the tech (or, more old school, with actual switches and feel will be more than membrane and etc.

If you want a serious keyboard, you should be looking at a nice mechanical keyboard.  Luckily there are some backlit ones that are pretty decent.

Here is a no-name one that gets awesome reviews, and you can change backlight colors. More of a budget based. The only complaint is the enter button's shape, follows more of the old IBM backwards L shape. Not mechanical keyboard

MSI branded anything has never ever been a mistake.  I've always been very happy with the quality and durability of anything they make.  A quality mechanical keyboard with backlight:

This one is the Bee's knees, but it would personally be a bit out of my budget:

I don't endorse Razer keyboards. A lot of gamers like them, and I can't say they are bad. They are quality you can feel.

              Thanks, bro, those are cool. Very helpful.

i love the IBM model M style keyboard, so i have a keytronics 3600U coming. i will light it somehow, probably with some kind of rope lighting.

Wintermute

I have a Saitek that is pretty old and lights up blue... one of the very few great typing, membrane keyboards: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41S6X78GDRL.jpg

I have the Razer Blackwidow... lights up green and had IBM / UniComp spring buckles... but the keys are too small and close. Not a great typer, but solid for games b/c it will hold a 20-button mash.

UniComp bought IBM's "M" keyboard tech: http://www.pckeyboard.com/

Best two "typing" keyboards I own are:
1. 1994 Dell QuietWriter full-size: http://www.northgate-keyboard-repair.com/DellQuietWriter.jpg
2. 1993 Apple Design Board: http://www.applerescueofdenver.com/wp-content/uploads/apple-design-kybd-A-1.jpg

I'd just buy a USB-> LED light.
