The Spec Sheet

Started by MV/Liberace!, May 30, 2009, 11:47:14 PM

That would be a really cool experience. I hope you find a group. Will be listening live, but my wife is working and my three boys can't give me 5 minutes of continuous peace ever.

Somebody take advantage of this opportunity!

Curtis (Mudking), Gottoon and Onan: thank you for a great show last night. As I'm really ignorant on tech, I find it very helpful and can manage to understand. I also found the discussion on credit, economy very thought provoking discussion. Funny how I only started listening to tech just for fun and also leave with it information I can apply and ask you guys for insight.

Avatar from Sopranos...ugh...too mainstream....lazy in your self exiled days I guess...but, it's your life, I understand that...I'm good with that...I need to be more accepting and open...

Thanks Chine!  Hopefully we answered your cloud storage questions.

I still am not sure what the hell my cloud is and what it's doing! Haha. I'll call in next time and ask to get specifics from you guys.  I'm still rather clueless.  I know it's there and storing stuff but where and what does that even mean?

QuoteIn a new
webpage, accessible only by developers, Apple details that Apple Watch cannot be restored to earlier versions of watchOS without assistance from Apple Support.

I love that the exact subset of the user base that needs to know this, not only has absolutely no idea what this means, they're pro-actively banned from even reading it. Hats off, Ba'al.

The latest Spec Sheet episode is now posted over at UFOShip.com.  Sorry it took so long to post it.  Crazy week for me, and I just didn't need to be dealing with this stuff.

Love the Show! Listened to a bunch of quality old episodes over the weekend while struggling with Hardware and R Studio. I was wondering if tomorrow you could briefly give your input and thoughts on a few topics?

-AMD (Stock Price tanking)
-Open Source Firewall Software
-- I did some playing around with Peer Block in tandem with Windows Firewall and was interested in your thoughts on using these two together
-LISP(Has been around since 1958 or shortly FORTRAN. I was popular when it came out, then in the 80's, and is having another resurgence now. AI guys seem to be running with it.
--Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs aka the Purple Book (https://mitpress.mit.edu/sicp/full-text/book/book-Z-H-1.html#titlepage)
-Anything Matlab and R related
-ProxyHam
   --http://techcrunch.com/2015/07/13/development-of-a-200-wifi-router-geared-towards-whistleblowers-was-just-suspiciously-cancelled/
-Forum Software
--Advantages and Price of different types of 3rd party software
--Length and difficulty to create your own very simple one
--How to encrypt and secure a forum
-DIY Portable Mini Monitor

I was thinking. Michael Horn COULD effectively be a guest on a special Radio Train Wreck Reunion and let EvB attempt to logically deconstruct Horn's personality matrix until it's nothing more than the unidentifiable residue on a gummed up ball joint of a '68 Ford Mustang, while EvB's blood pressure goes higher than Art's did on F-Day.

That could be some interesting interaction, in addition to the call ins.

everything was alright... everything was going fucking okey dokey ok... until Mr. Horn said something degrading about poodles, intimating they are unworthy of Billy Meier's galactic forgiveness.

that's when things became ugly... and led to an action, that was the first in a series of events that led to EvB becoming a wanted fugitive hunted by the U.S. federal government.

Spec Sheet tech problems inspired. Streams and signals lost due to Alien Cirque nonsense using electric wires for their own spectacle. I tossed in a Raptor and never drew them before. Raptors are fun to draw and maybe I'll do a real painting a Raptor while listening to Rush (Aldous request)

Hi Chine. Aww- cute cartoon! I just wanted to thank you for taking the time do to my reading. I haven't had one in many years and was impressed by the way you picked out the issues that I've been trying to work out. I'm amazed at how you could tell my exercise routine for today. You also gave me some good advice about a loved one and reminded me of a practice I had forgotten about. You are very gifted and I appreciate your help and guidance.

With Metta,

Pye  :)

windows 10 users will be forced to accept updates from microsoft.
http://www.theverge.com/2015/7/17/8987549/microsoft-windows-10-automatic-updates

i think this is mainly a attempt to curb piracy. the microsoft "am i genuine?" check will always be labeled a "high priority security update" even though it does nothing to enhance the security of the end user.
while mostly i am ok with updating windows with the latest security fixes, we should not be forced to do so.
i suppose microsoft has adopted the "people volunteer better if forced to" approach.
