Difficult to know where to start. Are you suggesting Obama is to blame or should be praised because a federal regulator is instigating a check?

And the government's website to check your vehicle doesn't work. What is it about websites that this government can't figure out? Obamacare sites down or hacked, all those emails conveniently lost due to server problems, and so on.

"VIN recalls look-up, other functions temporarily unavailable
NHTSA is experiencing intermittent network issues that are making some functions on SaferCar.gov temporarily unavailable. These include our recall search by the VIN look-up tool, searching for complaints and recalls, and filing a complaint. We apologize for the inconvenience and encourage you to try back later."

If they're like UK gov websites, the Government gives the contract to private companies who bid for it and then fail to deliver because they hadn't taken account of all the various suits demanding modifications whilst it was being set up...Until eventually the system, millions over budget and behind on time is scrapped for another. And lots lose their jobs.

You are probably correct. It is ridiculous. Ignoring the Obamacare mess (a fairly complicated thing to roll-out with all the different States, insurance companies, etc) I don't think anyone or any contractor got canned during the "missing" IRS emails. Something the government forces businesses to do- retain emails and company records- but can't do themselves? Tell a regulator or the IRS that you "had a server error" and cannot produce documents and see how far that gets you.
