I think GN is just prepping in case the radio gig goes south.  I think JBW is being groomed to take over in the not-too-distant future. He isn't as dumb as he is portrayed on this board. Nobody falls ass-over-teacup into one gig after another on pure luck. GN might very well see the writing on the wall and is forming his own little roadshow. Hell, even Ted Baxter could figure out when Lou Grant wanted to can his ass.

I don't think Wells is dumb.  I just think some of his circuits are a little fried or perhaps in a perpetual feedback loop.  I appreciate that he does engage his guests and is interested in the subject matter, and is able to show sensitivity to callers.  Unlike George, he does also respond to criticism so I don't think he's all bad.  Mainly his long seemingly disconnected pronouncements get to me, as well as what I interpret as his gullibility to crank ideas.

Is it just me, or did Art Bell not make alot of personal appearances and yet still managed to stay successful and popular by just being on the radio? Maybe Snoory is so egotistical and likes to think he's bigger than he really is that he feels he has to make appearances in order to appease his fans, whatever dwindling amount they may be. Either that, or he just likes to make his presence known as an even more bigger "do anything if they pay me enough but I could give a shit less about you" kinda celebrity than he already is!

Art was also very well compensated.

The only possible reason PremRat has stuck with Snoory as long as they have is because he comes cheap. Like AFTRA base rate cheap, which is still more than he deserves. He knows he's lucky to get even that, so he doesn't rock the boat. But it's also why he plugs the ShuperShecretCoashtClub subscriptions & does appearances at flea markets.
