"The Gong Show Movie" from 1980.  It's awesomely bad...Chuck Barris far more coked out than Tony Montana could ever be.

Fact Or Faked.  or is that Faked or Fact?  don't know.  but it is interesting to see people go out and try to replicate ufo/ghost sightings using conventional methods to see how close they can approximate the filmed phenomena.

also ... Paranormal Witness is good.  The Trumbull County UFO and Haunted Highway episodes are both worth watching.  They have the actual policemen who saw the UFO in Trumbull county. If you don't know that sighting, you might want to read up on it.  Multiple police from multiple towns in Ohio all report seeing the same UFO.  one police unit was so close the cruiser they were in shut off for a while

"Idiocracy"(overnight on IFC)...hadn't watched it in about 4 years...forgot how goddamned funny it is. Brilliant... delayed for a year and buried upon release because it hit too close to home at 20th Century Fox.

Yeah I caught this one a while ago - it was awesome to put faces to the voices I had heard on the Trumbull County UFO broadcast on Coast.

As far as current movies just watched Charlie Varrick on Netflix instant.  I really dig a lot of these older movies I never heard of - this one's from 73' starring Walter Matthau.  Great little heist flick.

War of the Worlds (2005)

6/10
The first half was cool but it fell apart half way through.  The tv crew that explains repeatedly how the aliens get into their ships is unforgivable. Why complicate things with "They ride the lightning"?

This movie made me viscerally angry

It is quite a movie, isn't it?  It becomes more of a documentary every year.

Just the other day, I made the fatal error of turning on the TV and there was a "hidden camera" show that was dedicated to violent fights in courtrooms, convenience stores, bowling alleys...

And it hit me...this show was basically "Ow, My Balls", but not nearly as clever.

my dad is a retired high school principal.  i tried watching Idiocracy with him but he became so viscerally angry he had to leave the room.  mostly for reasons that have been mentioned

did you hear about the Fear Factor episode where contestants agreed to drink donkey semen and donkey urine for the chance of winning $50k?  yeah .... Idiocracy is everywhere

Watched 1. Iron sky, 2. 11-11-11, and went to see, 3. Promethius.

1. a funny moment or two but sucked
2. scary to a 3y/o, sucked
3. good popcorn movie, some fairly large plot holes, didn't suck

I thought "Iron Sky" was entertaining but I fell asleep the first time I put it on.  Second viewing I stayed up the whole time and liked it.  Funny plot if you can laugh at Nazis.  I'm dying to see "Prometheus" and almost have it downloaded but might just trash it if the quality is bad.  "Project X" was pretty funny and only takes half of your attention to watch.

Is it (3) tied in any way to the Alien films, as far as story goes?

I read something that said it's supposed to be a prequel.  Download just finished and looks good I'm gonna check it out then let ya know.

Cool.  I'm so 50/50 on this movie that it's like 100/100.  If it is a "prequel" and has anything to do with "the Traveller" & his spaceship from Alien, then I'm a 100% down with it.  If it isn't, I 100% won't watch.  Till Netlix.  Hey, that could be a Weird Al parody of No Sleep till Brooklyn.

ziznak

Without giving too much away Yes it's the prequel.  Having just watched it I can't really draw direct lines between the two personally but I would say for sure that it's set in the same universe.  The "aliens" architectural style is all over the place.  Watch it!!  I'm sure Georgio tSuckalots and the "ancient aliens" people will like it too.

saw Prometheus yesterday. Big ridley scott fan, love the first Alien and also Blade Runner.

Prometheus was really good, coming from a harsh critic who hates most movies made after about 1998 and despises digital effects.

If you are very familiar with the original 1979 Alien film, it's definitely a prequel.

Casino Royale - 1967
There are few scenes better than Ursula Andress at her sexiest, and Peter Sellers at his funniest performed over an anonymously played, breathy tenor sax rendition of "The Look of Love."

Well, maybe Jake and Ellwood going to the cafe to get Matt Guitar Murphy is better.

Watched Into The Wild yesterday.  I've been depressed ever since.

after seeing prometheus I had to download alien and aliens... on a lil R. Scott kick lately I guess.  Pretty cool though to check these two great movies out again and to see the tie-in's to prometheus.  Just started Aliens... Also, watched safe house and probly gonna put on this horrible documentary mr dubb was pukin on... it's probly better than coast tonight I lasted 5 mins.

Just watched this for the first time.  They say Van Gogh's perceptions resembled Starry Starry Night more than consensus reality.  This movie is how it looks to me when I step off the Burbank ranch and into convenience store America.  I've been hiding from this movie for 30 years now.

watched Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows last night. I love Robert Downy Junior as Sherlock

ziznak

HE IS like the best Sherlock/ Tony Starks or any other roll that requires him to be somebody that's somewhat like who he is in real life

George49

I saw the Avengers the other day in 3D, I fell for the hype....all I have to say is one word: Overrated

The Ending was decent enough though...but to many boring dialogue scenes.
