Dexter - 2007 - Season two, Disc 1, three episodes

Ah, I need to watch that. Everyone thinks I named my cat after the serial killer.

What Happens in Vegas -- 2008

And I know - I know - there is no excuse.  Predictable, formulaic tripe.

I needed brain down-time and a giggle - and it was on "On Demand"

There was one truly funny moment when Ashton Kushner quotes a scene from Julia Roberts in Sleeping with the Enemy - and he's Julia.

The Village-- 2004

First time I saw it (in the theater) I spent a lot of the time looking for a friend's daughter - who was one of the "extras"  (One of the children playing).  Turns out she ended up on the cutting room floor.

It's interesting to see Rider Strong go from Boy Meets World to Boy Meets crazy Mexican human-sacrifice cult.

I was surprised at how decent the movie was. Good performance by Astin, going against the grain of his usual roles. BTW & Just for the record, too old for Boy Meets World.  More a Six Million Dollar Man guy. Yeah, I know there was some chick named after a canyon that everyone loved, Fred Savage's little brother, and I'm guessing the dude with the porn-star name (Rider Strong) was Savage's buddy in the show.  I saw it once, and I only watched because Leon White/ Big Van Vader was on it.

Oh yeah, I think Vader was Strong's Dad in the show. Or at least some kind of kinfolk of his character.

But Strong has done many good horror efforts. He's in another horrorfest flick, "Tooth and Nail"...and I think in at least one or two more horrorfest offerings. Plus, he was in Cabin Fever, which IMO was a great newer horror flick.

All in all, I've followed his acting career much like I've followed Shai LaBeouf's in the term of coming from a kid star to a successful hollywood actor. Strong, however, has gone towards many independent and unique films, while Shai is just riding the mainstream titles while he can.

I hate Shai with a passion.  On principle I hate all "flavours of the month".  Who did strong play in Cabin Fever?  I have the flick - was he the blonde dude?  The one who took off on his own?  I thought that was a decent flick.

Strong was basically the main character. I think the blonde dude was the dumb guy..AKA, comic relief. I forget.

No, the main character was the geek.  That was Strong?  I meant the dude that had shoulder length hair that got shot in the end when he thought he "made it".

Terms of Endearment
- 1983

Often seen as a "chick flick" this film is actually worthy of more than that.  The book is better - but that is RARELY not the case.

It garnered a number of awards - even though done by a relitive newbie scriptor and director.  Worth watching - carefully - for how a classic tale becomes art.

FYI:  In my opinion, the difference between a classic story and a cliche is how well it's done.  This one is done well.

"Mr.Brooks" - 2007

Great movie if you enjoy stuff like American Psycho.

The Happening - 2008

I was SO disappointed!  I know MNS has been petering out - but this?  This was a tepid, at best, version of King's The Mist.  I was stilling and surfing my "on demand" list -  and there it was.  I thought "Hmmm . . .lousy reviews - but it's Shyamalan - how awful can it be?"  (I'm a fan - even of his formula)

The answer turned out to be PRETTY FREAKING AWFUL!  And there were so many points where something interesting, and even moving, could have been done.  It just WASN'T

Bad editing?  Shyamalan getting downright LAZY?  Who knows . .  .

On no - don't do it (but it seems you already won't)  This line form a anonymous online reviewer expresses my feeling better than i could myself:

Seeing a Shyamalan has become this horrifically abusive relationship where I desperately cling to the belief that if I keep loving him, he'll stop hitting me.
