No, I never smoked. Seeing my grandfather, a lifelong smoker, die a long, lingering death from emphysema served as a warning to me.

The rules regarding smoking on commercial a/c really evolved through the 1980s. One of the latter iterations required airlines to accommodate any passenger who requested a non-smoking seat.  So if the only seat left on a flight was in the last row, the whole aircraft was designated non-smoking. I was on a flight from LAX to St Louis where that happened. Things got ugly, to the point the pilot threatened to land an hour into the flight and have federal charges brought against some of the irate passengers.  When we did land in St Louis, the non-smoking passenger who had pissed off the smokers was asked to deplane ahead of everyone else to be gone from the gate area before the smokers in the rear left the aircraft.

I always flew Muse Air when I could. First non-smoking airline and nice, new MD-80s.

For now UT has not agreed to all the black players demands. "The Eyes of Texas" will continue to be the fight song but they are renaming the field Campbell-Williams which to me is ok. Why should such rich lawyer be the name despite all the $$$ he gave when they actually played on it. However, UT is not going to give money to BLM which was a player demand.
The Redskins thing is interesting. I guess the fight song needs to change. Originally, as I recall, "hail to the Redskins, hail victory, hail to the Redskins, fight for old Dixie" then they changed it to "fight for old D.C." but kept the problematic "hail victory," I can't seem to understand who else used that phrase.  ;)

I also guess the Cowboys have won! Redskins exterminated!

I think they should do away with “Washington” as well. I suggest the “Federal Deficitâ,,¢️“

The last Shuttle mission STS-135 launched July 8 2011 using OV-104 Atlantis.  She and her crew landed safely on July 21/2011 marking the last time that the USA had the ability to put its own astronauts on its own space station.  I cant believe that the Shuttles have been retired for 9 years already.
The Commercial Crew providers are in the process right now making US based ISS crew rotation a reality.

Here is the Approach and Landing Tests involving Mission Commander Fred Haise(lunar module pilot of the aborted Apollo-13 lunar mission-crew survived) and Shuttle Pilot Gordon Fulleron(in the astronaut rotation and served as the backup mission Commander for Apollo 16. Future assignments during Apollo for Fullerton were cancelled along with the program).

Orbiter Vehicle One-Oh-One (OV-101) originally named Constitution, public urging got NASA  OV-101 renamed to from "Constitution" to "Enterprise". OV-101 "Enterprise" is named after the Star Trek series USS Enterprise (NCC-1701)
.
OV-101 Enterprise for the ALT(Approach Landing Tests) is unpowered, but uses the potential energy afforded by the 747 .
Here's Shuttles very first flight as part of the ALT(Approach Landing Test)

OV-101 was a good approximation of the orbiter. It flew 5 times.  The first 3 had a tailcone on it to reduce drag. The last two had mockups for the main engines.  No OMS engines or RCS jets.  No thermal protection at all. The tiles were polyurethane and the leading edges were fiberglass if I remember correctly.

There was a study done to see if it could be retrofitted to replace Challenger but it was deemed to costly and problematic. It was put on static display at the Air and Space museum at Dulles and then moved to NYC after the last Shuttle mission.   Enterprise replaced it. I went and saw Discovery with ShayP in February.

For several years I worked in a position that to this day, less than 20 people have listed on their resume. As we approached Discovery, the docent asked if he could answer any questions. I told him I could probably answer his and told him my previous job title. He asked “How many of you guys are there, that’s exactly what that guy over there said he did.”  I looked towards the tail of Discovery and the guy that took my place when I moved on was taking pictures.  If either of us had not bragged to the docent about what we had done we would have just missed each other by 200’ as we walked around the museum. I hadn’t seen him in over 20 years and he just happened to be in DC for a Business trip. Both of us were amazed at the chance meeting. Pretty wild.

In spite of having something to do with every shuttle mission from STS-4 until the end, I never got to see a launch. The closest I came was STS 41D, the first launch attempt of Discovery.  June of 1984. They lit the main engines and the shut them off before they ignited the SFBs.  I was at the original VIP viewing area as a Launch Honoree.

I was selected 6 times after that to get passes to see a launch but they were always delayed because of weather and the companies I worked for at the time wouldn’t let me just hang around KSC waiting for a launch.

Yup.

I enjoyed the story about the Grizzly hybrid by the N.Californian guy on Syrett's show Friday night and liked his idea of a cover-up. I'm not sure his theory that clear cutting a forest would cause an increase in apex predators. Sure it would make them move, come into suburbs, scavenge from trash, attack livestock etc because their prey and food, like berries, are gone but cause an actual increase in numbers? And also confronting a Grizzly, or Grizzly hybrid, with a .270? Especially one already known to be so aggressive. Seems a bit light, to me. I wish Syrett would've asked the caller to email C2C the pictures of the dead bear. And even if the Rangers took the body and skin- for the cover up- there still could be DNA from where he cleaned it that could be analyzed to see if Grizzly or what.

Cornyn is a fucktard.  I supported Dwayne Stovall in both of the last primaries against him.

I didn’t hear the show.  More berries grow after a clear cut.  More of everything grows actually. Selective clear cutting supports tremendous diversity both in flora and fauna.

I was 'lucky' enough to accidentally pick up a robocall last week and it was one my Senators having a conference call with constituents. Very similar but was funny to see how he answered questions by talking with no answers but lots of words. And cleverly was able to thread the needle and agree both with Trump anti-immigration the 'world is ending' folks and the corporate pro-business globalist types who want more VISAs and immigrants. And get every 'answer' to questions back around to his main talking points even if the question started about some other subject. He reminded me also, a bit, of some C2C guests that subtly force agreement on something by questioner and then quickly...on to the next caller's question before the follow up.

I love Syrett's callers. He is about the only C2C host these days who has good callers. And unlike most hosts he lets them tell their tales, in length and details if interesting. Norry will have a potentially great caller with a crazy, interesting tale and he will cut him off right before it gets good. Maybe because he doesn't listen to them? Idk. Syrett like Art will let it go on if the story is a good one. Syrett's mild Canadian manners is also hilarious because when confronted with the crazy American stories he says things like "Good Lord." "Oh my," and so on.

It strikes me that I may be a troll...

Some jackass painted a big (probably 10' tall) retaining wall overlooking the busiest road in the city with "DEFUND THE POLICE". You can tell that they spent quite a bit of time as it looks very professional. I considered it for a few minutes before deciding that I may buy some grey paint and a little red. If I paint over the bottom and right side of the "U" with grey and add three horizontal red lines, I can make it read DEFEND THE POLICE."

Now, I really don't care for cops too much. But it would amuse the hell out of me. I kind of hope that the "artist" drives past it to admire his work daily. Really... What are they going to do? Call the police because I defaced their work? :)

Double dog dare you.

Roz,

Lately I have been contemplating that my semi-feral bachelor state might benefit from blissful domestication.

This might be yet another Bellgab fantasy, mild insanity or a symptom of the madness of love;  perhaps a tasty melange of the three?  In these difficult times, I find comfort in my longheld conviction that such a sumptuosly beautiful mind as yours must necessarily be held within a similarly beguiling package.

Being the gambling rambler that I am, I feel that I must cast the die.  This lifelong fascination with the mysterious concept of an arranged marriage leads to contemplation of lifting the veil on an adventerous nuptial arrangement.  I embark upon this perhaps quixotic quest with the firm belief of your perfect nubility;  I impossibly dream that you will be convinced upon reading this request that it was written while on a bended knee.

Should this offer be appealing to you, simply provide an appropriate ring-size and a jeweler will be engaged to fashion a suitably tasteful and elegant ornament for your many talented hand.

This bauble will be presented at, and for, your pleasure as further negotiations warrant.

If nothing else, I hope this offer leaves you with at minimum a bemused smile.

Yours,

-p

"Toss Bombing" nuclear weapons using the B-47 Stratojet.

https://youtu.be/s_fVtd5Sz9M

F-111's had the capability to emply a similar "over the shoulder" toss bombing technique when dropping the GBU-15.  The bomb continues upwards while the jet has changed direction and is escaping the area.

When I was stationed at Plattsburgh AFB, we had two squadrons of FB-111s but there was a B-47 on static display outside of the gate.  The base is closed down now but they moved the B-47 to a small park and have an FB next to it on static display. Volunteers are currently refurbishing the B-47 to repair a bunch of panels which didn’t weather too well over the years.

Doesn't seem to spend the money on himself.  Everything he owns is a business expense.  I don't know.  He did sponsor that child in some third world country who would now be college age.  Did you notice how his daughter didn't have any blooms in her wedding photo?  Just greens.  Maybe that's a thing now, but it also is extremely frugal.

I sponsored two when he started that campaign and I never made $500k per year. His child would have aged out at least 5 years ago.  My original answer stands.

No I really don't.  I record every C2C show on my CCrane Witness, bought it when Bell was still doing the show, but listen to at most 40% of them.  Whether I listen it is usually a function of the guest, although I do listen to every open lines segment to enjoy the buffoonery.  I tend to listen to Punnett and Syratt shows most frequently, but seldom ever listen to Willis, Garr, or Church.  The Georges I might listen to 50% of the time, but again it's usually guest dependent.

As to what the future holds for George, unless he really steps on his crank big time,  I think the network will allow him to stick around as long as he wants to do the show.  Considering how self important George thinks he is to "his" listens, that could be a while. Besides, there could be worst hosts.

There are a couple of articles that say Premier extended his contract in 2017 but I couldn’t find anything about for how long.

Jimmy Church is the only “worse host” I can think of. Connie Willis almost makes that bar but if she did a regular show she might do better than she does filling in. I haven’t listened to Lisa Garr in years so I don’t have an opinion. Actually the only C2C shows I have listened to at all in the last 3 years were with Knapp hosting. I don’t listen to Punnet but I do think he is a better host than Noory. Syrett is better than Noory but I haven’t listened to him in years either.  There are way too many commercials on C2C. I tolerate it to hear Knapp depending on the subject.

I think I have the Fetzer/Dietrich show on a USB drive somewhere I'll try and dig it out.  Fetzer did a good job of egging him on.

The NSA already has recordings of you and a gang of Chicom hackers discussing the transfer of high technology, you have been seen hanging around with an attractive Asian woman who may or may not be a card carrying member of the CCP, and now you ADMIT having a thumbdrive with Fetzer AND Deitrich?   I hope it’s encrypted.
