Politics / Re: Politics - Candy Crowley bias montage
October 18, 2012, 04:00:22 AM
Quote from: HAL 9000 on October 18, 2012, 03:21:53 AMHere is an audio montage of Candy Crowley interrupting Romney and injecting herself into the debate (inappropriately I would argue). A few may have been missed, but you'll get the point.

No worries - the next and last debate will be on foreign policy.

Obama's handling of China:  Failure.  They are much more aggressive now due to his neglect and projection of weakness.  They are not moving toward resolving trade issues like currency manipulation and intellectual property, and are destabilizing the entire area by claimng every island out there.

Russia:  Failure.  Starting with Clinton we've done everything we can to stir mistrust and suspicion - meddling in elections of former Soviet states like Ukraine and Georgia, pushing NATO eastward.  Obama has exacerbated that.

The Muslim world:  Failure.  Failure to support the people of Iran, failure to support Mubarek, failure to prevent Jihadis to assume power in too many places.

Mexico and immigration issues:  Failure and neglect.

The emerging economies and relations with the formerly Communist East Europe:  Neglect, specifically hanging the Czech Republic and Poland out to dry with defense issues.

Africa and Latin America:  Neglect.  Allowing al-qaeda to gain footholds there.

N Korea:  Just more of the same, dangerous as ever.

The rest of Asia, most notably Korea, Japan, India and the emerging market countries:  Neglect

Our allies Britain and Israel:  Treated with distain

Iraq and Afganistan:  Going backwards to the point we will be leaving without even a good agreement with our 'friends' or our enemies in either place.  Getting our guys killed in Afganistan due to lousy rules of engagement and allowing Taliban fighters into the Afgan army to kill our guys training them.  Complete failure.

His fellow Socialists in the Eurozone and places like Venezuela seem to like him, or at least they like his weakness.

Obama is neither competent nor a leader.  His world view is that of a Marxist 'Liberation Theorist', which is completely assinine.  Let's see him and his 'moderator' put lipstick on that.

More evidence George is such a 'nice guy'.

I wonder what Ian was doing in Syracuse NY (the site of the accident?)

So George McGovern is 90 years old, just checked into hospice, and is nearing the end.

Anyone remember when a little known Senator named Paul Wellstone died in a plane crash about a week before the 2002 off-year elections?  The Democrats and the media spent days and days- a huge funeral, complete with all sorts of political speeches, advocating for current candidates and issues.  Everyone was there - Clinton, Gore, most of the other promenent Democrats of the day.  A few R's were invited to provide cover.  Truly disgusting.

Watch for a repeat performance by these people if McGovern has the misfortune of dying before the election this year.

A few months back Noory claimed that was when he was approached by someone with an offer for a presidential naval commision.  8)

Hahaha.  So he must have gone into the Reserves at that point because he was so successful at broadcasting and wanted to keep doing that, but at the same time didn't want to say no to a Commission?  I wonder if these are the same people that 'approached' him to run for President a few years later.

I can't stand hearing Noory spout off about being in the Navy. I swear it happens every program.  Three times so far in the one with Dames.  Noory just said he was "an officer from the get-go" followed by a laugh.  ::)   This was after Dames and a caller talked about being enlisted men.

I'm trying to figure this out.  Noory claims that he quit the Navy after 9 years in, right when the first Gulf War happened.  1989-90.  Anyway, Noory is 62 now.  He was 39 when the war started.  That means he was 30 at the start of his Navy "career."  How did he go in as an officer?  He never mentioned being a reservist and/or possibly going to NCOS school previous to that.  Or even going to college on the GI Bill.   Something about his claim of military service bothers me.  He's too quick to spout off about it and the numbers don't add up.  Especially since he has done so much in his life......a regular renaissance man.  :P

Anybody else have doubts?

I pretty much doubt anything the Snorge says.  But his narrative is he was in the Naval Reserves, so that's what, one weekend a month or something like that?  He would of course have a day job while in the Reserves.

But your timeline shows this might be a lie - who goes into the military reserves at age 30?  The only thing I can think of was he was a failure by age 30 and needed the extra cash.

This is one of the most specious threads going.

Of course Obama wants all our dignitaries killed because he is a muslim.

What a bunch of tripe.

And you can prove it because he didn't say terror. Fuck me bloody.

This is the best you guys have?

For whatever reason, Obama does not seem to recognize the threat of Islamic Jihad to he extent he should.  I don't know if it's because he is a Muslim, or if he used to be, or if he thinks nearly all Muslims are like the people he grew up around in Indonesia.  Maybe he hates America and our freedom like other extreme Leftists and recognizes the Jihadis as people working toward a common goal.  I really don't know.

But he was unprepared for violence on the first anniv of 9/11 after the 'Arab Spring', when some pretty dubious groups have either taken over or are still jockeying for position in some of these places.  He did not provide requested security at Bengazi despite repeated requests.  It did take the Admnistration 2 weeks to tell us this was a pre-planned act of terror and not just a spontaneous reaction to a 3 month old video on YouTube that almost no one saw.

It's extemely dangerous to have the US President be this naive, if that's what it is, about Islamic Jihad.  These people tell us every day - on their websites, through their media outlets - that they are in a war with us, and their goal is a worldwide Islamic calafate under them with Shariah Law.  We need someone that listens to that, understands it, and takes appropriate steps.  That person is not Obama.

I do not completely disagree with this... I am not real clear on how I think monies should be directed towards infrastructure. What I do know however is a majority of states, mostly red states would flounder economically under your suggestion.

Fed income taxes would disappear and be replaced by tarriffs on goods dumped here by countries like China and other places big business has exported our jobs to, or maybe Fed taxes would remain and just be reduced to some  nominal amount.  The states would have to raise taxes to fund the things they wanted to keep that the Federal govt did previously.  Other things would be done privately and those costs passed on to customers - I'm thinking things like food inspections.  The Post Office, Patent Office, etc would have to become self sufficient.  Big Pharma would fund the CDC.  So much absolute waste would be eliminated, esp redundancies betwen Fed departments and between the Feds and the states.

I'd bring all the soldiers home from everywhere, we are in what, 100 different places around the world.  Maybe keep a few forward bases, but thats about it.  We don't need to be doing everything everywhere, no one seems to appreciate it anyway.  Terrorism might even go down.

If it were up to me, I'd end Social Security - except for means tested people age 50 and above now and up who couldn't make it without it.  Just because the last several generations agreed to fund their previous generations retirement doesn't mean we have to, but that's just me - no political party would ever try to do that (they'll just wait for it to collapse instead).

I'm not someone that believes in no govt, I just think we are way off track now.

I'd like to see much of the power and and wealth drained from the Federal government and returned to us at the state and personal level, the way the Founders intended.  The Federal gov would be limited to the things they were supposed to be doing - diplomacy, military, setting the rules for interstate commerce, national courts, things we can't do at the state level...

There wouldn't be any need to fight over all that power and wealth being sucked toward DC - it just wouldn't be there to fight over.

When asked about China, Romney said absolutely nothing of importance. he might as well of screamed "America fuck yeah" and ripped off his shirt, and chugged a beer. What the hell does "level playing field" mean anyway? The only way to have a level playing field is to drop minimum wage to 50 cents a day or to punish businesses that outsource to China...

China is a currency manipulator.  They intervene to hold it's value down rather than letting it rise to it's market level.  This keeps their products cheap in our country and it makes their products cheap compared to ours in the world market.  It also makes it much cheaper to open a factory in China than here.

Romney also mentioned corporate income taxes.  The US has the highest in the world.  What foreign company - or American - would open a factory or office here when they could open one somewhere else and pay much less in tax?  (The stories we hear about corporations paying no tax are mostly the biggest international companies that 1) play shell games with profits, and 2) take advantage of deductions and credits that their lobbyists get placed in the tax code - these are typically specific to certain industries and not typically available to smaller companies.)

Regulations.  We need clean air and clean water, fair treatment of employees, all that.  But we have tons of regulations that just drag business down and make them not want to have factories and businesses here.  Obama and his Leftists have done theri best to strangle business in red tape.  The obnoxious Obamacare plan creates extra costs and uncertainty.  Other places have very little of this.  It all needs to be reformed, and in some cases eliminated.

I heard Romney address all this tonight, maybe not as thoroughly as he would have liked, but he was limited to 2 minutes at a time.  So it was something more than 'America, fuck yeah'.

As for low wage jobs - most companies don't really want to go offshore;  foreign workers aren't as educated and well trained as Americans, they don't speak English as well, they aren't as productive, it's harder to manage a business thousands of miles offshore, managers traveling back and forth, learning the rules and laws in foreign countries, shipping stuff back and forth.  It's really easier to have their operations here, too often they've been driven away by bad policy and taxes.

Romney understands this.  Obama doesn't.  And worse, he is't interested in it and doesn't care about it.

Why do you believe all this shit.

Does it all come from one documentary , one that told you what you wanted to hear so you accept it as truth and pass it on?

Honest question , why do you believe this .

Bear in mind im fairly independent here and starting to lean toward Romney so I'm no defending anyone.

Because given everything we do know, and all the stuff that we don't know because Obama has spent millions to hide it, a narrative that goes something like this makes the most sense.

... Overall Romney won. But Obama, by improving on his disastrous performance in Denver, will send the usual media suspects into paroxysms of joy over what they will call his magnificent performance, diamond-sharp mind and matchless oratory. The "relative improvement" scale will be employed by the media and the members of the Ministry of Truth will declare him the once and future king again.

They can try - pretty clear people no longer trust the media to be remotely fair (with good reason).  And with all their filth during the campaign so far, if they still haven't been able to swing the election for Obama at this point it's not going to be so easy to spin this into a great Obama victory.

... winning the popular vote is not a guarantee of election since it's possible to still lose the electoral vote. But only four presidents have been elected while losing the popular vote...

Most recently in 2000 when W Bush lost the popular vote but won the Electoral College.

This year the Electoral College appears to favor Obama and it is very possible for Romney to win the popular vote and lose the electoral vote.  If that happens look for the D's to end their attempt to revise the Electoral College process in favor of a direct vote.

... my view so far , Obama is 0-2 . Another strong showing for Romney...

I would say so too, with Obama much closer this time.  O even made some good points, I think this is about as good as it gets for him in a debate.

It was interesting O did not answer the question why was the request for security from Bengzi was ignored, instead he jumped right to what happened and how the ambassadors were his people and that he took responsibility.  I think Romney missed a great opportunity to pound him on it - probably didn't want to seem disrepectful to the people that died by politicizing it - he should have at least mentioned O apologizing for that tape, spending money on ads in Pakistan afterward, and the fact that the administration was caught flat-footed on the 9/11 anniv in the first year after the Arab Spring with radicals newly in power.  Maybe R is saving that up for the foreigh policy debate

And neither of them seemed to know the difference between an AK (fully automatic and always has been illegal), and 'assault' rifles that are semi-automatic (one squeeze, on bullet) but have advanced scopes, stocks, etc., that regular rifles don't have.

George just said he likes to have guests on that challenge him so that he doesn't surround himself with "YES!" men, because that's the only way he learns...

Sounds as if he is claiming that he is surrounded by yes men (and women, Lisa) if not for the guests.  It's true of course, just out of character for George to admit it.

I wonder what he thinks he's learning - he clearly isn't listening most of the time, unless it's sumpthin' stupid like Thuh Numbers Lady.  When he's asking a question the guest just spent 5 minutes talking about and answering, or cuts them off in mid-sentence, it's pretty clear he isn't 'learning' anything.

In ten long years he hasn't learned to do a good job, or even a better job.  God what an arrogant ass-clown.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune has this story this morning - don't know if it is the same accident, but it's the only one I see involving two deaths.

In that article it sounded like the driver was so snockered he drove into a lake, and the other two were also drinking.  That doesn't sound like a person on his way to a job at a radio studio.  Perhaps one was a friend or relative of Ian's colleague - if that even is the crash he was refering to.

I haven't listened to Coast for a long time now but it seems like they are struggling to find hosts to cover weekends, so it's interesting Ian hasn't done any extra shows that I remember.  It looks like he is doing the minimum to either keep up some nationwide exposure, or to wind down the Coast gig as gracefully as possible.

The Republicans, or at least the Conservatives, need to stop trying to get along with the D's, stop trying to curry favor with the Phoney Media and shove them off the political stage.  Most Americans - or at least a plurality - identify as Conservatives, yet we end up on the losing end of policy far too often.  It's a failure to stand up and explain positions and consequences in lieu of them trying to get along in DC - the last debate was a good start, and Romney isn't even a true Conservative.

Every single election year these debates end up being moderated by Phoney Media cronies of the D's.  The R's need to just put an end to it, insist on fair moderators, and tell the American public what is going on instead of always being scared of looking bad.

For f**k sake, Obama attended the wedding of the person 'moderating' the VP debates last week.  And it showed.  Yet Ryan still won, because he was right on the issues.

Hmmm, who does this sound like.

This is exactly the kind of person that Noory would hire, and the type that thrives in Corporate America - they wouldn't dream of hiring anyone that might outperform them.  And For George, it's really hard to find someone that couldn't outshine him by just showing up.

What devaluation are you referring to?

------

- US inflation rate was negative in 2009, about 1.6% in 2010, 3.2 in 2011, and running under 3% in 2012.

The Consumer Price Index and all the government measures of inflation are manipulated numbers, just like the unemployment figures.

The ratings on US Federal Government debt has been downgraded - twice - in the Obama years.  It's never happened before.

The Quantative Easing (QE's I, II, and III) is a fancy name for the Fed to print money to buy back our debt - that may not show up as inflation now, but it will once the economy starts going in the right direction and those dollars come out of the banks and into the economy.   In the mean time, we are getting another $1.5 Trillion in debt every year.

I think all that qualifies as devaluing our currency, even if we aren't pushing wheelbarrows of dollars to the store to buy loaves of bread just yet.
