never notice the Quality of callers on Art Bells program compared to George Noorys program Noory is a halfwit along with this callers

While listening to Somewhere in Time I'm always blown away by the quality of Art Bell's callers. During the '90s we didn't realize how smart his callers were. Now of course with an idiot at the helm the caller quality would have to reach up to touch bottom.

Tonight we get to study bible scripture. Radio has become an acid bath.
#33
Doc Wallet is on tonight, don't want to miss that
#34
Tonight's guest wants to bring back diphtheria, smallpox and polio. You're hitting another one out of the park George.

You'd never guess Jeff Goodell had a book to sell what with all that exquisite doom and gloom he parrots a la Al Gore. Enjoyed hearing him babble after the caller pointed out the extremely high atmospheric  Co2 levels during the ice age. His answer was something like 'well I'm around (corrupt, misinformed) scientists just all the time so of course I know what I'm talking about'. Another quality guest courtesy coast to coast. Thanks.

The interruptions of guests have become unbearable. The frequency is increasing - too frustrating to even try and listen. God when will it stop.

Is anyone getting the on-air conversation right this minute?
George:. I have to say I believe in life after death... because we can't even explain life!
Guest:. George, is that an, uh, intellectual understanding... or, uh, something....
George:. I'd say it's something deeper...

It's like listening to a moron because you are.

Infomercial night at the C2C, avoid.

Ouch got Zorro wrong, no internet research before blurting
#46
I misspelled his name, something George would do. That's humiliating.
#47
It took him 30 seconds to name-drop Billy Mumy.

Many thanks to ItsOver for predicting that.

HOST
George Noory
GUESTS
Steven Jay Rubin,    Open Lines
Author Steven Jay Rubin will be discussing the original Twilight Zone television show, its impact today after nearly 60 years, and the writers, producers, actors, and directors who created this iconic series. Followed by Open Lines in the second half.

Get ready for "did yeeewww know I know Billy Mumy?" and "It was a cookbook!"

He might also pull a fast fact out of his computer while not listening to his guest, like blurting out

Noory: the Kanamits were all played by Richard Kiel
Guest: (long pregnant pause followed by attempt to regain train of thought)
Noory: (still completely detached) Richard died in 2014

It's those little Noory electronic insights that are akin to fingernails on a blackboard.

Well, it seemed like a good percentage of his callers lived in CA, and in the Bay Area.  Which makes sense since it started at 10pm here, and we have the largest population of the states.  I didn't conduct a scientific poll, or even ask everyone I knew, but it always seemed odd that no one I did ask had ever heard of him when topics like the X-Files, ufos, or bigfoot came up and I would ask.

My point though was, there is no way 1 person of every 20 (15 mil / 300 million) in this country had their radios tuned to his show in the middle of the night every night.  Didn't happen.

No you're right it didn't happen because Art Bell's C2C was broadcast all over the world, not just in the United States. Toward the end of the '90s it was also available worldwide via the Internet. The estimated 15 million viewers per night were worldwide. George Noory doesn't have the talent to generate that kind of interest and he never will. But they've made up for his deficit my charging for past shows, presenting infomercials-for-profit rather than legitimate guests and lowering the standards on potential guests. The motor city moron managed to destroy what was at one time a beloved radio institution. Congratulations George Noory.

Don't get him started on Olivia, Newt and John.

Lol he didn't really, I mean it's a joke right?

Wish I hadn't read ahead about upcoming shows, the suck has taken all the air from the room.

I've seen numbers as high as 15 million.  There is no way it was ever even close to that.

The population of the US when Art was getting ''15 million listeners'' was 300 million.  Was 5% of the populaton listening to Art Bell from 10pm-2am on the West Coast and 1am-4am on the East Coast?  One person of every 20 - man, woman, child, non-English speaking immigrant - tuning in to Art Bell in the middle of the night every single week night?

Of course not.  I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and worked for a software company at the time.  A place where the unusual was the norm, as was staying up all night.  I wasn't aware of a single person that even knew who Art Bell was.

IMO, the 12 million, or 15 million, or whatever it was was either cums - each night's listeners added together cumulatively for the week - or just plain inflated.  Which is what radio shows do, which is why the audience is reported in cums for the week, which is why those numbers aren't released publicly the way the TV Nielsons are.

Still, 2.5 - 3 million per night is nothing to sneeze at.  Especially considering a large percentage of Art's fans listened to the entire show, unlike Noory, whose half a million listeners per night (if that) each mostly tune in for just a segment or two

I wouldn't know about the "San Francisco Bay Area" but out in the midwest everyone with whom I worked and I think most of my friends at least knew about C2C and knew the name Art Bell. Maybe the "San Francisco Bay Area" is culturally a little different than other areas of the country. You people think you're the center of the universe and you're not thank goodness.

Just heard "Anton and LaVey"

It was just an example of fumblegums, right? He does know Anton LaVey was just one person, doesn't he?

Sad part is he probably doesn't know. Poor Snorch, suddenly I feel sorry for him. Think I'll start calling him George.
#53
Why does George Knapp consistently manage to have interesting guests talking about interesting things while Snorch solicits the worst of the worst night after painful night? Did Snorch suck on batteries as a child? (stole than line from Willam the drag queen, thanks Willam).

They can't even enough pre-screened callers for a G2G show on a Tuesday night! Sad. Everyone recalls Art having hours of calls, and good ones and stories- frankly, sometimes I think he had to cut them off too soon- and now they can't even get, with pre-screening, call-backs, etc enough for a short show?
https://www.coasttocoastam.com/show/2017/10/31
George Noory hosts the traditional "Ghost to Ghost AM" Halloween show, where callers and guests share tales of ghostly encounters and contact with the afterworld. First hour guest, author, lecturer, and paranormal expert Bill Bean will discuss some of his most evil and disturbing cases, including exorcisms he's performed, as well as the world of curses, obsessions, and possessions by demonic entities.

Keep in mind Art Bell had 12 million listeners on any given night, Snorch barely musters 6 million in an entire week. Tomorrow I'll figure out the percentage of decrease, tonight I really don't care. And then there's the caliber of callers - when I listen to Art's callers on Somewhere in Time then compare their intelligence and articulation to Snorch's current pool of sycophants the disparity is incredible. I'd forgotten how intelligent the conversations of the '90s could be. Gosh I miss those days.

George Noory. Total imbecile. He has a Roman-Catholic priest on as a guest, then blares some tasteless "Aerosmith" bumper song. Like he's trying to "stick it to the guy" and Noory is so clueless as to defy the fact he can even have a job.

Note he never mentions, despite claiming he was some Cradle Catholic, that his firm beliefs "allow him" to parade a whole bunch of hucksters and snake-oil salespeople to cheat, manipulate, lie to and "rip off" the gullible, ignorant listeners while "allowing them" to claim to speak for God.

What a f*ck. What a liar, cheat, insecure and shallow, selfish person that Noory is. A new low among the low. What's next? He has his producers play AC/DC's "Highway To Hell" as some "themed" song for his next segment with that priest? Noory might as well given that priest the middle finger -- because that host knows no way of God and decency, and is just some con artist who has real issues and makes our skin crawl.

Aerosmith is never tasteless. Let's see you sing with a four octave range.

Not everybody subscribes to the christian cult.

Apparently John Hogue has a (in)famous brother:

My family is from Oklahoma, don't hold it against me. I remember Richard, he was a tongue-talkin' fool. Fire and brimstone, washed in the blood, you know the shtick. However I don't recall Richard ever being involved with snakes. At least not the scaly kind.

Oh good, more empty prophecy in the time-tested tradition of the grocery store tabloid, followed by never-ending tired Fatima talk. Already missed 39 minutes of the acid bath. Maybe I'll miss a few more.

You forget. The bringer of "truth and light" in George Noory is big on telling those outside the program's circles "We Don't Allow Hucksters On The Program." Once again, I state, if it wasn't for hucksters, Noory won't have a program. That's why no one in the "mainstream" or "the real world" gives him one ounce of credibility.

James Van Praagh: Huckster. Flim-Flam Man. Con artist. Cheap carnival hack. And that's being kind to him. He cannot talk to your dead relatives any more than I can. I know all the tricks. I can do what he does better than him. But I won't do that to people, because I have a heart and a conscience. Instead, I attempt to educate people about these predators and call them out whenever I can. None of them I contacted so far took me up on my offer to test them fairly and for real. Because I know -- and they know -- they'd fail and be exposed.

I couldn't listen to Van Praagh, the greasy little huckster turns my stomach. I'm ashamed to say when he first rose to prominence I believed the slimy little fucker. I believed because I was desperate to believe. Van Praagh takes advantage of sad hurting people for profit. Well he's exposed now, he along with the newly dead Sylvia Brown and Theresa Caputo and all those other liars and soothsayers.

Yes, I have thoroughly read this thread for information, but no news.  Maybe is is only Fake News.

It could be like when Norry goes to a commercial break. and is in the middle of a thought never picking it back up again during the show.  That information had an intervening long weekend, so it is long forgotten

Too busy contemplating his belly button or engaging in some other low-level cognitive activity.

JAMES VAN PRAAGH? Are you fucking kidding me? That con artist has been disproven debunked and disgraced all over Youtube. Dimbulb is going to fawn all over him like he's a celebrity and James Van Praagh is nothing but a LIAR and a THIEF.

Continuing our descent into the abyss...
