The Other Side of Midnight - Sound_Board

Started by (Sandman) Logan-5, December 25, 2018, 07:05:49 PM

Okay Guys.
Dump your short (funny or not so funny) sound clips here.
Keep 'em small
Preferably just the Hoagster, unless you can't edit out the other voices.  ;)

I'll start...

Great job and funny. Merry Christmas and thanks for the Christmas presents. Someone should call in to Norry or even RCH using this soundboard!
But no "a couple of" quotes yet? When RCH said, for example: "a couple of three days" "a couple of three weeks" "my book will be out in a couple of three months, in time for Christmas." I could be wrong because I haven't listened for a while but I recall something like this all the time, the exact nature of the quote might be wrong.

LOL - And a Merry Christmas to you too my good friend.  :)
I know I have those in one of the Hoagy recordings I have. I'll have to search for them.
Actually, his last (Sunday) show was pretty good. He was in Dick Cavett mode.  :)
That was the first time I've listened to him in months.
When time allows, I'll be pulling some gems from the shows I've recorded.
I use audacity (Linux - FOSS program) to pull the clips.
Audacity is an awesome program once you learn how to use it. The learning curve is steep though.

Yeah, I agree.
The Falkie soundboard was used against him after the debacle - That was a funny show. He didn't realize he was being sound-boarded. Oh - Art kind of instigated that - heh, heh, heh.
But yeah, you're right, we need to build a good repertoire of Hoagy sound-bytes. ;)
His minions will love this thread.     ;D

BWAAAAh-Ha-ha-ha...
Actually, yes - he is.
Not like another host we...      um...   yeah...     okay.
Anyway - Hoagy is actually getting into the topics he's running now, and toning down the arrogance.
A definite improvement.
It makes the show fun to listen to, again.
I only hope he keeps it up. ;)

I have Audacity in Linux and it is good. Have by no means mastered but have figured out basics (which Linux "folks" say is easier done in a command line anyway) like joining mp3s together etc. Basic stuff.  I noticed somebody puts out RCH's show on the torrent interwebs but only on a monthly basis and so weeks after the shows.  Not that I encourage theft, of course, and for up-to-date, ground-breaking information and emergency imaging panels one should listen live and subscribe.

Sound bytes are in the legal grey area.   ;)
That's why I asked to keep them short.
I don't want to give any legal basis for a lawsuit for boys and girls just having fun.  ;)
Audacity is a hell of a program - you can even add effects if you want to - there are a lot of addins. Go with the GUI if you're not so good w/ the terminal.

https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorials.html

It all depends on the OS you're running - but the Debs are out there in Synaptic.  ;)

Arch-386:  http://www.deb-multimedia.org/dists/stable/main/binary-i386/
Arch _64:  https://www.archlinux.org/packages/community/x86_64/audacity/
Arch Extras:  https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/audacity-extras/
Deb & Derivatives:  https://packages.debian.org/jessie/audacity
BSD:  https://www.freshports.org/audio/audacity/

You're on your own for Redhat & Fedora (& CentOS). I don't support the CIA as a matter of principal.  ;)

Thanks. You know "a couple of three years ago"  ;)   during some holiday season the local AM guys were talking randomly about some new software they got (I think Adobe based) and how "cool" it was because when they made a mistake cutting a commercial the techs could just "add" in whatever and they didn't have to rerecord it. Using old recordings and simulating their voice. One expressed some concerns the other said "don't worry" that the software company makes a "print" of some type in the recording so you can tell it was edited. But, for listeners, you assume the recording for the mattress company, dentist, or liquor store was seamless and "them" speaking in a full recording.  Now you have the "deep fakes" etc also.

On the good side? If somebody wanted we could "rebuilt" Art Bell and still have a show using his recording clips interposed against new guests. Or, heck, even fake guests!! A reboot of some Malachi Martin and Art again?

So he's not defaulting the whole schtick to Kynthea and his "imaging team?

Cuz that shit was getting really clubby/insider/mailing it in...almost TMZ grade Harvey Levin syrupy...

I came across a couple of those, but have to check if I clipped them.
Got it.
But wait...        there's more.    ;)

That's called audio steganography .
This is one of the best ones out there.  http://steghide.sourceforge.net/
& http://stegui.sourceforge.net/
(I also have a stego thread floating around this website somewhere too.)  ;)

This has literally been technologically feasible since the late 90's, discounting access to exotic tech--a last great frontier was real-time modification of video, but audio mastery must have been achieved before I was born--because they were whinging about Watergate by then.

I use em dashes too much. I'm not gonna lie.

LOL - no.
The program I caught (live) last Sunday was pretty good. The Hoagster (and his guest) actually sounded like they were having fun.
I missed the very beginning, but I don't think it was a rerun.
We'll have to see if he keeps it up for tonights' show.
