I know that Mike Douglas was gay but was he actually openly gay back then? :D

I think you are confusing Mike with Merv.  Mike was happily married from 1943 until his death in 2006.

The Stones continued to exist and do reasonably well but were a lesser band after Brian Jones died.

Really?! I've heard for years from different people that he was gay. I'm not confusing him with Merv.

No, he was straight.  Merv Griffin was gay.

Ha! Exactly the next song I was going to post. Now I don't have to. ;D

Although, I really prefer the non-orchestral version. I just think it has more omph! ;)

It's All Over Now is in my top 5 of Stones songs.
We do have great taste in music!  ;)

I'll let you post the next one.

Not me.  The orchestral version has a touch of Beach Boys type falsetto harmonies, a bit of Spector and well you know I love orchestras. :D ;)

Oh, I like orchestra's too. I just think that part of the fundamental nature of that song is it's stacatto rhythm and chords (and that great 12 string playing by Kieth) and, for me, the orchestra washes that out a bit too much.

Understandable but the other one doesn't have the hook that the orchestral version does.  Just my opinion.  The orchestral version is pure ear candy.

OK, and this is just my opinion but it actually sounds kind of tacked on and hoaky to me unlike Martin's scores, who would write and record them after the Beatles had recorded all their parts and it would always end up sounding like such an itegral part of the song that it's hard to imagine it without it. ;)
