Christian Von Lahr just claimed to have helped Bill Gates with computer related ... um ... stuff.  Certainly there has to be some way of validating some of these claims.  If a fact checker could prove this was BS, then he'd be revealed to be a fraud.  And then maybe Michael Jackson could have the rest he truly deserves.
haha, i just recommended in another thread that you check out this thread... but it looks like you've stumbled upon it yourself.

worst guest ever ... HOAGLAND'S HAIRPIECE

a close second ... christain von lahr.  the guy's a fraud/psycho
you should go see the thread where von lahr joined this forum and posted for a week or two.  the guy is absolutely bat-shit nuts.

Every movie except for No Country for Old Men has got a freakin' message.
you know something, now that you mention it, i think you are right.  i recall that movie really having no meaning.  maybe it was too artsy fartsy for me to pick up on.  i still thought it was a good film, tho.

Why not WS as a C2C host? He's seems more intelligent and entertaining than any three hosts of C2C these days. Of course, he's got www.unknowncountry.com, so that's where I go now to listen to the real deal.  ;)
i don't know.  i can recall when he took over hosting dreamland, and i found him to be rather bland and boring as a radio host.  maybe he's gotten better.

So one evening last week I was listening to a few of Art Bell's Terence McKenna interviews, and shortly thereafter tuned into C2C with George Noory.  I think it goes without saying how I ended up here.
haha, nice.

welcome to the forums.

...on the other hand you'd think a screener could simply que up the calls without "screening" them.
exactly.  this has really disappointed me.

Just the fact there is call screener sucks - that was part of the magic of the show from past days.

Personally there's some quirks to Art and some political views of his I don't like. However that doesn't detract anything from his show.
agreed.  while i don't like art's whole chicken little approach to global warming/climate change etc., it hasn't affected my appreciation of his broadcast mastery.  however, i just can't take any more shows on the topic.  enough is enough.  i didn't bother tuning in when he filled in last night.

I distinctly remember playing with a oujia board in my childhood.
me too.  however, i was always blatantly moving it around and freaking out everyone who was doing it with me.  i ALWAYS moved it.   muahahahaha.

i don't know.  i don't think that alone is enough to sustain me anymore.

i don't recall if it's been covered yet in this thread, but the WORST guest EVER would have to be UFO freak billy meier's "american representative" michael horn.  what an arse log.  no credibility whatsoever.  do you guys recall the interview art did with him several years ago, and at the end of the interview, as the music was fading in, horn revealed he's hawking a fucking music cd he produced?  art was clearly nonplussed.  what an awful way for an already dubious guest to lock out.

edit:  here's a page where you can hear samples of horn's cd.  absolutely ponderous horse shit.  additionally, he sings about as well as a throat cancer patient.

Thanks MV! While certainly not edge of your seat listening, to me anyway, I still find it all very interesting. Had I heard the show live that night, I'd have also said it needed to be open-line like Art ran it. So many talking heads were on the news that day, I really wanted to hear the voice of the everyday person. I've always been interested in it since watching it unfold live. I'm not a 9/11 conspiracy theory person, just very interested in it. I've downloaded the FDNY audio feeds of the day as well and listen to them.

And to just mention it again, the Coast to Coast Slipstream site is great! What an archive they have there. I'm new to this forum and that site, and I'm sure everyone here knows about it, but if you haven't checked it out, do so!

http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/1EDTD5/coast.gmms.ca/page_cjob.html

I listened to the Area 51 employee episode someone posted on iTunes, and that will be my next pursuit- finding Area 51 related audio. Great forum, MV!
ah, yes... this is a rather hefty archive of coast shows.  very nice, indeed.  the best way to download from the server is via FTP rather than through the web interface.  much faster and easier.

Did it strike you as odd, Obama delivering the eulogy?  It did me.  I couldn't decide is it was some marvelous irony or something sinister.

I mean, a lesser ranking head of state than Obama would have done - with no offense. Yet somehow we had to be presented with this image of our first black president laying  our most famous Klansman to rest, with honor.
i didn't know obama had done so.  i knew clinton spoke, but not obama.

what can i say:  byrd eventually came around to support hard left positions nationally as did his party, so all was forgiven.

I always found the Beachboys to be kind of corny, but they put out some good stuff.  There's something about the utter drunkenness of "Barbara Ann" that's way cool, and "Don't Worry, Baby" gets me everytime.
i always found the latter beach boys stuff (post brian wilson's direct involvement) to be the best.  however, that's no slam on brian wilson.  mike love was there cock-blocking wilson every step of the way.  the beach boys could have been so much more if love would have just stepped out of the way.

I agree, I'm a radio producer and think the practice of matching bumper music to the topic being discussed is very lame. I can't quite put my finger on why but I just don't like it. There is the odd time when it works but 90% of the time I hear it, it's just lame.

Back in the late 90's when I was in my late teens and early 20's, Art Bell introduced me to a crap load of great music I had never heard. I have a great appreciation now for 60's and 70's music... mainly because of Art Bell. I've made 3 CD's of Art's bumper music and am currently putting together a 4th. Art knew not only to pick great songs, but songs that complimented his time slot. Songs that sounded great screaming out across the nighttime sky, many very eerie in nature. The prologue to Neil young's Crunchy Granola Suite gave my goosebumps every time Art played it going into a break.

Art picked all of his own bumper music. I'm guessing that none of the hosts have a big hand is this process now.
don't forget about the fine selection here.

Hello group- just joined here today. I've been listening to CTC off and on for many years- mainly when I work the overnight shift. Just a couple days ago I stumbled upon 4 show that showed up on iTunes for download and I grabbed them up. I'd never seen .Mp3s of CTC anywhere, then I found this site and noticed the link to the CTC Slipstream link- very cool.

As I was listening to the older shows from iTunes, I got to wondering about September 11 2001 and the shows/topics in the days following it. Are there any downloads available anywhere of the September 11 show and the days following it? Any remarkable calls/topics around the event in the days that followed? I'd love to hear these shows.

If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it. Thanks for having me aboard- I like this place!
Steve

EVERY PSYCHIC OR FUTURIST OR WHATEVER!!!! FUCKING FAIL!!!
God damn listening to Art protect this scum after 9/11 is just painful.
for years i've been nauseated by the degree to which art protects dames.  it has caused me to question art's credibility more than any other factor.

Do any of you all have kids who have done this?
i remember my little brother sleep walking regularly.  we'd be in the living room watching tv or whatever, and here he'd come, dragging his feet into the living room, stopping, standing, staring, confused.  my mom eventually changed the deadbolt on the door so that a key would be required in order to unlock it.  she was afraid he might try to leave the house.  i had never known anybody to do this until my brother came along.  as a matter of fact, i previously thought sleepwalking was just a type of myth or something.

Somebody give this guy a bloody morning show where he can dispense the cute and digestible news/traffic in some local market.
you've hit the mark.  snoors is a news director.  he is at his peak when reading copy.  anything beyond that, and you're listening to an agent orange victim.  what george needs is to be on in some shit market with a population of about 50,000 reading birthday announcements with some hole who sits feet away from him and laughs incessantly at everything he says.  this is what george should be doing for a living.

honestly, i was angry after i heard his "exactly" remark.  it irked me on multiple levels.

in the 6 or so years i worked in radio, i met and worked with a lot of guys like george.  they are mediocre, safe, fake, formulaic, unoriginal, corporately submissive, disloyal, and riddled with delusions of grandeur.

art, what have you left us with?  i'd just as soon see the show cancelled than to know this pap is being expelled nightly.

yeah, it's real.  ian talked about it when he hosted saturday and sunday night, and played it a couple times.  he seems to suggest and/or believe it was some sort of functional sleep state, but i'm not so sure.

if memory serves, didn't this happen one time before with ian?
