Using Windows on a Mac

My daughter brought home a Cd-Rom from school for some homework that has an .exe file on it to install the program onto the computer.

Now my issue is the file is a windows file and I only have Macs at home. Yeah sue me peasants.

Anyway I have used Parallels before to install Windows onto my Mac. Is this still the best program to use to install Windows? I seem to recall that there was another popular program as well.

Also I don't currently own a copy of Windows and I would prefer not to have to buy it just for this but I will if I have to. Any hints as to what the best way to acquire this? I'm not adverse to a bit of five finger e-discounts if you get my drift.

The program is some basic learning to read programs with games and that type of stuff for 5 to 6 year olds. From my searches there isn't any mac version. It is a legit program so there shouldn't be any viruses.

Thanks to wr250 my child will be able to read. As long as she doesn't discover my posts on BellGab she shouldn't need too much therapy.

Buy a cheap PC laptop, you Aussie skinflint.

I thought you were better than this, Jaz.
