First time poster, way wayyy east of the rockies.

I'm in the UK. It's 04:33 right now. I tried to sleep a bit, but no joy.
I just turned 40 this year but...... I'm too excited. Like a kid at Christmas.

Signed up for a 'trial' with sirius yesterday.

......it's all been worth it. I'm shivering with excitement.... I'm never growing up.

yay! that's awesome! i thought people outside of north america couldn't listen?  in any case, happy early xmas.

Sent another wormhole message about magnetar outbursts which have huge destructive potential. Keeping my fingers crossed one of mine will make it to air.

Geeking out over here! :)

MABUSE

Mister President, we must not allow a mineshaft gap!

Absolutely amazing. So great to hear Art again. It's like he never left and this last hour with the WR 104 talk just made this show an instant classic.

After being subjected to Dave ... WR104 would be welcome relief...

Lol at it taking 2 hrs for art to get on track.

Some other host still isn't after 10 years.

Hey MV what kind of monthly quota in donations would we need to upgrade server?

a dedicated hosting account would be best but that is $$ relative to current hosting costs.  With our current hosting company their plans start at $139/month for a dedicated server.

If any of the members have experience with lower cost dedicated hosts and will send me a PM I want to get some options for Michael to look at when he gets back.

Art knows how to set the mood, to say the least. It's a radio play, and he's a one-man set designer, writer, director, even BOARD OP. Noory, on the other hand, struggles to read his cue cards.
And keep his hands off Tommy.

AstroBuzz

I like that Art's new show is on earlier than C2C. I can actually get to sleep at a decent time now. Thanks Art!

Art Bell!!! What Michio says, I believe, as opposed to Major Ed Dames who I find weirdly amusing. Oh dear, Michio says the earth will soon be laid barren...somehow I'm afraid now, so late 1990s...I love it! Cheers everyone!

Methinks Dr. Kaku read this article... "looking down the barrel" and all:

http://www.universetoday.com/13034/looking-down-the-barrel-of-a-gamma-ray-burst/

but he didn't mention that one study shows that the star is pointed away from us by 30 to 40 degrees:

http://www.universetoday.com/23342/wr-104-wont-kill-us-after-all/

Then again, these articles are from a few years ago... not sure if there's been any news since.

Happy to be listening with you people tonight.. People who can appreciate the awesomeness. God this is fun.

PrairieGhost

We are on hour 3 already! This is definitely an instant classic!

Gama Ray Burst is my favorite flavor of Gatorade. :)
good times!

Having just pissed on George in this otherwise happy thread, let me say that Art had real class never referring to fumblelips.

Hey wait a minute.... WR104, Siriusxm 104? there are no coincidences.

Killshot for noory

I wormholed Art a similar observation.

But what of Clyde Lewis.... what of Clyde Lewis..........

How is it already Hour 3?  It feels like the show just began a half hour ago.

The master is back and I LOVE IT!

ScaryDavey

With only one call-in number, wouldn't it be a bitch to get through?

CampsieNP

Time to call in..? nooooo not yet. I would guess Art doesn't want to take a ton of calls from people saying how much they have missed him.
I am really enjoying this interview. Smart and entertaining. What a concept.
Two hours and running. A NO-SCHPLIT-SHOW zone.
(gamma ray death would take weeks???? omg...scary. "slow roast" essch)

The link above seems like a more recent rundown of info about WR104.

I would imagine he will add more lines if the show needs.

I've been wondering about this too.  He needs more lines.

AstroBuzz

Clyde takes a backseat to Art's show for me.

Clyde will still have all his terrestrial listeners to keep him going good.
