Hey driver, ever listen to this podcast?

http://www.truckertompodcast.com

https://www.youtube.com/user/tomwiles

When I first started driving I used to watch all kinds of video's but after being out here a bit, I've learned not to trust them; however, you were talking about the podcast -
You can find those conversations in almost all truckstops. I can not believe that I am the only truck driver on here as they would fit right in.
You would like them because a good driver is self-reliant, which leads to more conservative political views.

I think you'd be well informed by listening to a few of Trucker Tom's podcasts, he was a network geek before becoming a trucker.

The guy is extremely well informed (as many drivers are) and while the truck talk would be old shop to you, the political insights and social commentary I think would be welcome.

Really dig your pics, sure was cold in old Wyo...

Thanks! I'll check him out if I get some time.
Wyoming - I'm just happy that it wasn't too windy. During the summer, there is a serenity found in those mountains that I can't put words to. During the winter, it's all white knuckle! lol
Also, when you order beef for a meal in Wyoming, you'll get about 30% more than anywhere else - It's really cool. 😎

Great state, whacky weather and wild wind!

Some of the worst snowy/foggy weather to be found is on I-80 between Arlington and Buford.

But I bet you knew that. ;)

It's where the Russian first mate wanted to retire to in The Hunt for Red October. I guess he was onto something.

That Wind River canyon is a beauty for sure!

Tnx for the pics! :)

If you ever get laid over there the hot springs are second to none.

I saw mammon clouds the other day again.  They come straight off the ocean like little miniature cumulus clouds, for a few afternoon hours before dissipating into cirrus clouds. The sun will get lower in the sky each day, taking the sting out of it even though temperatures could climb.  A hot June day is way hotter feeling than a hot August day, because of the way the sun starts out overhead.

The overcast day actually was hotter on my thermometer than the sunny day, probably due to humidity.  People out here generally are not set up with A/C bec "we only get a few hot days".  But, that's kind of silly.  Being in an oven is never safe, not even once a year.

It rains a lot here, and sometimes trees really do fall over.

Wow.  All you'd need are more trees.  I wonder if there are any poisonous water snakes...

No poisonous water snakes per se, but rattlers are all to common and I have seen a rattlesnake swim (Lake Powell), so caution is always advised.

Last time we were there we watched a mountain lion through the binoculars on the high plateaus to the east.

There are multiple hot springs in town, both private and state run:

A very chill, happy family place in a very small but friendly town.

I suspect you'd groove in real well. :)

I was in Wyoming once.  One of the best things my parents ever did was take us by road to Yellowstone.  It was a weird place.  Old Faithful was very late.  Just a real interesting place.

Western Wisco checking in, excellent night for deck drinking. Temps dipping into the low 70.

Kind of makes me wish I had some poo to burn.

Some of the most amazing geology in the western US, plus wide OPEN spaces.

Norris Geyser Basin is astounding, esp, the Grand Prismatic pool.

Some of the coolest stuff is in Eastern Washingtonetc where the mountains meet plains and the scablands and also where you see the divide between irrigated places and what is basically desert. And crazy huge hanging valleys, coolies, etc. I also note that a great example of how "settled science" was not and science is never "settled."

OK, I get it.  Given the force of the flow, though, I kind of thought of Old Faithful as male!!!

That's the kick in the nuts about driving truck - you get to see alot but you never really get to experience much.

I have a brother who lived in Baytown(he's in Livingston now) just east of Houston. I went to visit him about seven years back and we had a real good time going to the San Jacinto Battlefield and touring the Battleship Texas.
Afterwards, we went to Reliant Stadium to watch a monster truck rally.

I hear you, truck stops, loading docks, lumpers and the road.

But damn if you don't have a window seat on life!

Btw,  great pics, love the Major Kong seat on those shells... ;D
