Just heard the George sign off on Friday's? show. I don't think he is even allowed to SAY the name Art Bell anymore. Dropped like a hot potato.
Somebody pinch me, surely I am dreaming!

I only heard about 20 minutes of it and it was great. I am reluctant to re-sub just for this one episode but I will if he keeps it up.

Well for a shill, the pay seems to be low. Maybe that is why he is bitter. Come to think of it, my friends that beat me up for not smoking the hopium have gone quite.
I wish Phil, and the rest of this country could just get over their freakin' political paradigms.

I am not sure if he is liberal, or what. He seems to take a one sided stance that doesn't encompass the big picture.
When I used to listen to Art Bell, he seemed over to the right for my California taste. But he was/is intelligient so he always made me think.
To me that is the only value to listening to anything.

I still listen to him almost every night on KXL, Portland. He comes on after Clyde Lewis.
But it's obvious that he is caught in a downward spiral. I can understand it really, because radio talent are not valued anymore.
Lets hope their day comes back...
It might not be about money though. That's the trend I am seeing.
Phil just doesn't enjoy himself anymore.

He's really not even doing characters anymore. He does the voices of the two guys that work in the studio with him, Bud and Leon? I forget. And he has the one woman character in almost every night, can't remember her name either.
He comes on at 2am here, after Clyde Lewis so I hear him if I can't sleep. But I'm really fed up with him. Too much stupid anger and paper rattling, it's just dumb.
You know he lost about a hundred pounds and stopped being funny, hhhmmm.

The moderator of this facebook grounp is very adamant about no one sharing the photos of Art. However, the page is completely public, I didn't have to join it to see the photos or even to comment.
The name of the group is People Who Miss ART BELL On C2C IPS Coast To Coast AM.
Sorry if this has already been spotted by you guys, I browsed around and it didn't seem as if this has been posted.
Art looks great and Asia is beautiful, the pics are definately worth it.

I guess he had a psychic on for a new years show? Sorry, I am only listening with one brain cell now so I dont remember his name. But even though I was only tuned in for five minutes I got to hear one of Georges priceless stories about when he was working his way through college selling shoes, his big dream was to start a line of shoes and call it by some bogus Italian name. But being the worker in the light that he is, his main goal was to somehow "make them really cheap and sell them for a nice high price". That's our George!

At one point Noory asked 'Santa' what other stuff people left out for him besides milk and cookies.
'Santa' mentioned pizza - Noory should have asked him if that was like those dangerous burning microwave pizza rolls ;)

well it seemed like good luck last night when i happened to hear george telling this story again, i was able to play it for my DH. but deep down i know it's just because he told the story so many times that it will be hard to miss as time wears on....endlessly.
i not only smell pizza rolls but maybe a lawsuit? george is silly if he thinks mothers just plop those little nuclear bombs on their childrens plates. uhhh, george, mothers know how microwave ovens work.

I think it's obvious that it will happen fast. As soon as p[remier realises that everyone is listening to Clyde for five hours and night online and ignoring George.
It seems like a natural progression.
I am trying to listen to a C2C right this minute, and I just wanna scream, ALRIGHT ALREADY BIGFOOT IS REAL, PLEASE GOD JUST LET IT BE OVER.
Seriously, there are plenty of interesting things happening in the world. The planet is more fascinating than ever because we have access to total infomation. People want to hear about it and talk about it.
I am looking forward to the day when Art Bell comes on Clydes show and thanks him for paying attention to shit!

Okay, well just go to Clydes last night show. Listen to the end of hour five, for the song that puts UFO Phil to shame. A song that was spontaneous, and you will never have to hear it ever again, much less every Friday night for your miserable existence, lol.
The ONLY reason Noory has had any ratings at all for many years is because people with radios as their only option have no choice. If nothing else I am just happy the truckers can listen in, who knows how the poor sods made it through these past few years?

So far the only station I'm picking up Clyde Lewis on is WRVA 1140 Richmond, Va.   I get the one hour (midnight to one a.m.) before CTC.  So far I like what I hear... time will tell.    I'm hoping I continue to like it and hope to see/hear the whole show... hoping one of the stations I pick up with a decent signal sign Clyde up.   Just have to wait and see.   I find myself tuning away from CTC more and more.   I can't believe I've hung around this long... I had hopes Premiere would replace Noory.

Premier radio has picked Clyde up, and he has varying hours in different markets. My guess is Premier is keeping an eye on him as a possible replacement for either Noory or maybe they're going to revamp the entire C2C show. But I've been begging for that for a decade or more and no joy. But I am happy to actually get FIVE hours of Clyde through KXL at this link; http://www.kxl.com/pages/ground_zero
and his show is archived commercial free for free the next day at this same link. It's a very sweet deal!
Clyde used to open for Art Bell many years ago, but he had a couple of very nasty bouts with cancer that seems to have put the kaboosh on his career for years. I found him again a few years back doing a midnight show out of Portland on Sunday nights, which was worth staying up for:)
Anyway, I am glad you enjoyed it, and I just wanted to let my old buddies over here know about it.

I like your enthusiasm, but the opinions on Clyde thus far are very mixed.

Found my old username, so I am posting with it now.
Well, okay I suppose reviews of Clydes show might be mixed, but I feel he captures more of the essence of what Art had going. I hung on this board for a long time after starting to enjoy George simply because he's great comedy. I mean with all the ugly truth that is being revealed in 2012, I wouldn't be surprised in GN didn't just come out and admit he'd been having a laugh all these years. As I mentioned yesterday, I had only been tuned in for about ten minutes before he came out with those two jewels I posted above. Funny stuff! Could easily make a coffee table book out of them, I can only imagine the graphic for the six inch leg comment. Deary me.
However, given the choice I'd rather have a conversation about a meaningful show, like back in the Art Bell days.

Picked up a station on my XIIA that re-runs C2C, been listening to George for two minutes, and got these quotes;Not hard to see why Clyde Lewis is number one now.

"cell phone texting has got out of hand. i mean now you get two couples in a restaurant and nobody is even talking to themselves anymore!"

"if i had a six inch leg, shorter than the other, it would be hard to walk."

Hey guys, it's been years since I have come round... but I transcribed a lot of GN quotes on some other thread a long time ago. I also mentioned Clyde Lewis before he was anywhere close to being nationally syndicated. But he is now, so find him. I want my Art Bell buddies back and all the good conversation that goes with it.

Is Michael still heading up the forum?  I've been gone forever. But when it comes to good ole George it's obvious nothing ever changes. I like John B. Wells though, they should hand the baron to him, but it just seems they want C2C to fail, and I guess Clyde is their back up plan.

GroundZero.ORG... that's where the smart talk is now:)

Hey guys, I just came across this Phil dude a couple of weeks ago. I so enjoyed his show I looked for a few youtube interviews with him and heard him mention he "does" Art Bell.
So, I signed up to his site, cheapsake that I am, and searched for every Art Bell piece I could find. Many, many of them had been deleted but the ones I was able to download made me laugh until my sides split.
As an aside Phil did mention in the original inteview that Art had heard these and found them funny. I LOVED the way Phil put Arts bumper music to good use and I felt transported back in time to when I first heard Art.
It was just after I moved from L.A. to Sedona. Before that move I didn't even know the world was ending, lol. I must admit Art gave me more of a wild ride than I was looking for in my first year in a new state.

Anyway, I thought of you guys when I heard these, check them out... or feel free to e-mail me about them Michael.
Just had to let you know;) VP

still got my mama here with me that needs lots of help. now they're blowing our levees etc. tornadoes, floods and general armageddonish type insanity. barrel of mokeys i tell you!

my dog what a long thread! let me go to 11 with it then. one late night as i was adjusting my sheets against the wind... someone asked george about art. georges answer was as usual undecipherable, however i had an amazing psychic flash that art was dead., GN came across as so deadly serious in his answer, he made as well said he couldnt comment until the family had been notified. GN and cheap vodka is to be avoided;)

art looks as lot like ZENU in the photo for this article, but at least he isn't pole dancing.

I lost count of how many times Ian thanked George for having his back and "handling" that so well.
God forbid that anything deeply interesting and unexpected provoke a spontaneous discussion on Georges show.
He's a clock watcher, installed to fill the small space between commercial breaks.

A good enough replacement for George Noorey if you ask me.

I wonder how such a normally intelligent magazine was hoodwinked into believing that Snoory actually listens?

"Mr. Noory to what do you attribute your success?

George;
“You know, I don’t know,” he said. “It just continues to get bigger, and bigger, and bigger. "
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
No interview is complete without George reminding us all that he doesn't take enough time off! Go ahead, rub it in George.
Noory can be an uneven broadcaster. Sometimes he seems to not pay full attention to his guests, offers strangely obvious commentary, orâ€"and this has alienated some fansâ€"lets clearly delusional or pseudoscientific assertions slide by without challenge. But he listens, with heroic patience, to all of his callers. He does the show live on holidays, he says, because that’s when the listeners need him most. For the same reason, he takes only a third of his allotted vacation time.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, I would have expected at least some sort of feeble attempt to convince us that Noory is good at what he does, but it seems quite the opposite. Corbeth is basically saying, "Well, we know it aint much but he shows up on time mostly sober and despite his tongue problem his teeth are good."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Corbeth called George Noory, still known as the Nighthawk, in St. Louis, and hired him as Bell’s full-time replacement. Corbeth told me that Noory’s chief qualification, aside from his familiarity with the paranormal, was simple geniality. “George, quite frankly, was just a guy who was willing to roll up his sleeves and do whatever it took,” he said.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

“All of us are here because we believe. Or want to believe. Or there’s something happening in our lives that seems to be drawing us to this,” he told the crowd. “We’re looking for answers … And until we can get the right answersâ€"of who we are, and what we areâ€"we’re going to be plagued with this inner feeling that you all have.”
He paused, and looked around the packed ballroom. “I mean, how many of you have that emptiness inside of you?”
Not a single hand went up.
“They all felt it,” he said, when I asked him, at the restaurant, about that moment. “They were afraid.”
I asked him if the emptiness he was talking about was one reason his show seemed to be taking off. He leaned back in his chair and looked out the window.

George Ure mentioned this article in his blog this morning.
http://urbansurvival.com/week.htm

Hey!  Speaking of which:  Remember what, six months back, Cliff said that shows like Coast-to-Coast AM with George Noory would be going mainstream in 2010?  Well, check out the latest in The Atlantic...  Article is titled "The Listener"...  Best of all - we get absolutely precise linguistic fill on C2C going mainstream with this quote:
"This gentle mainstreamingâ€"which Noory freely admits toâ€"seems to be what most irks online dissenters who dissect broadcasts with the zeal of true believers and refer to Noory as “Snoory.” But it’s also what has enabled the Coast to Coast phenomenon to spread into the broader American culture. "
LOL, congrats to George Noory (and Lisa Lyon who books the guests).  The MSM being upstaged by C2C sounds like social consciousness arising, doesn't it?
#173
Thank you MV! Doing gods work indeed, just like at Goldman Sachs, haha.
Man, I am SO sick of their topics... I have learned more about the BIBLE in the last six months than I ever cared to know.

I cancelled my subscription, AGAIN!
However, there was something new this time. There was a survey asking why you were cancelling. Oh man I wish I had taken a screen shot to play with it photoshop. I could have listed some of the real reason someone would cancel.
There was a multiple choice area you just clicked the circle on and then a written comment section.
The multiple choice included.
1. Cost
2.Commercials
3. Log in trouble
4.Connection trouble

As is usual, none of the real reasons were listed, so in the comment section I wrote, "GEORGE NOORY SUCKS."
Then I pasted the link to this forum in case they wanted more information.

I am really hoping the survery is their little baby attempt to figure out why their memberships are dropping. I am sure they think it's the economy and it may well be, because in a tough economy people won't pay for shit. I get annoyed paying six dollars a month when I only find a show worth listening to once a week or so.
I am SO GLAD I missed the xmas show. Whew.
#175
I don't even know where I am here! But I got a topic reply notification from a thread I hadn't posted in, in months. I know George doesn't believe in coincidences but I do. However, I was surprised to see the notification as I came to the computer with my specific gripe about the Shermer interview and the notice was right there.

Unfortunately, I just don't have any real life friends that understand how much George really does suck. That comes from the fact that none of them were ever Art Bell fans and as such, have suffered no loss.

However as chance would have it, (no that isn't chance, that is how life is with George) I am so annoyed with his Michael Shermer interview. Firstly George doesn't get any of Michaels jokes, but he also can't even be bothered to pretend or be polite. I guess skeptics just aren't worth the effort. But this is the thing that really was stupid, in the middle of the interview George just starts telling this story about how six years ago someone sent him a half eaten fruitcake for Xmas, so he gave the rest to the staff because they would think he ate the first half. And poor Michael laughed, I guess just out of common courtesy, or that nervous WTF laugh you get when someone is just completely lame and you can't believe they have a show.

At least nothing has changed, even though I haven't been here for a while.
Merry Christmas everyone, and please for your own sake, just turn this idiot OFF.

I keep resubbing because I like Knapp, Ian is ok, and Art is still doing fair enough shows. Except the one with Starfire, but he had nothing to work with there!
Currently my sub is cancelled again... nothing has changed with me. Always back and forth on this thing.
#176
It just isn't even fun anymore, even if I get a momentary glimmer that I could post examples to this forum.
His interview with Ed Dames, OMFG. That was another end for me. Only George could leave you begging for the kill shot, hahaha.

GAWD, Noory responded to last nights guest regarding privacy and key logging programmes by saying, "How many people know how to take their computer apart and look in there for one of those?"

GN, asking the stoopid questions so you don't have to!

P.S. Yeah, I think that guy wrote a book called Crowded Universe, or something like that.

George did have a guest on not long ago discussing string theory and multiverses but I don't remember his name. I am sure George made what I consider a fascinating subject boring anyway.
If you're interested in that sort of thing I'd go straight to the master, Michio Kaku

Notice George can't get him on, he probably refuses to stoop to that level. Art has done some great interviews with him though.
#179
V. I just listened to that, thanks for immortalising it. God, what an ASS!
Hey, come to think of it, he never did get Gibbons on anyway did he?

I heard George say the other day that no matter what the government did C2C would still be on the air. Yep, we'll all be watering our plants with gatorade and listening to the Snore...gggrrr.
#180
That's strange, I got a topic notify on this and the forum is back to it's old formatting? It's much easier (for me at least) to see with the lighter background.
Michael, sorry to hear about your rib, I know how painful that is and I guess not much can be done about a cracked rib.

Hey, did you guys hear George say the other night that the Swastika was Hitlers "logo"? And he absolutely MAULED his guests name on the into but I didn't wite it down. Not sure the thing that came out of his mouth in place of an actual name could actually be depicted in mere letters.

Ian sucked last night too, really for the first time. His guest was the snitch who infiltrated the Hells Angels. I guess you can't expect a chior boy to understand those darker shades of society, he would have been better off steering clear of the whole thing.

Oh and as far as the topic of the thread...well since C2C is radio I think it would inspire me to buy a TV, especially since maybe George isn't going to get his new show on the history channel. (I think it was the history channel at least.)
