Malcolm Young, guitarist and co-founder of AC/DC, died Saturday at the age of 64 after a battle with dementia.

RIP AC/DC (1973-2015)

Malcolm Young -- Exit because of dimentia in 2014
Phil Rudd -- Exiled in 2014 because of police raid and house arrest for possession of crystal meth and hiring hitmen
Brian Johnson -- Exit in 2016 because of risk of total deafness while on tour
Cliff Williams -- Retired in 2016 because he's had enough of this shit

Rix Gins

Rance Howard has died at 89.  Aside from being Ron's dad, he acted in lots of movies and television shows.  I remember him as Henry Boomhauer on the Gentle Ben show.  RIP   http://people.com/movies/rance-howard-dead-89/

Lord Grantham

He wasn't a celebrity or anything, but he had a sizeable internet following. I just found out about his passing this evening. What he did was dangerous, and in the end it caught up with him. Word has it he got caught up with a passing Amtrak train on a bridge in Maryland.

Stobe the Hobo had a unique viewpoint and lived more in his time then I probably ever will. Best wishes Jim, hopefully wherever you are the sun always shines and the railroad bulls are blind.

This was one of his last videos, which was unlisted for his Patreon subscribers.

Well now Gomer is back with Sgt. Carter.  RIP.

It sucks, I'm more bummed out than I should be over a strangers passing.
There's a facebook group with his family, his friends, and his fans and reminiscing together. It's actually very sweet. https://www.facebook.com/groups/rememberingstobethehobo/

Thanks man...I'll check it out.  I hadn't checked on 'ol Stobe in awhile.  I live in Kansas and thought it was funny when he got stuck a couple times in Herington, and he made a point to say how badly it sucked.  Haha.   I loved the guy's spirit  It was nice to see that there was a guy out there just doing what he wanted to do, free of the constraints of common life.

There was guy in the 70's or 80's I think, that would leave his job and ride the rails for a year or so, living the life of a hobo. Then he'd work for awhile, and he would write about his experiences. I heard bout this in the last 10 years or so, but I can't remember the guys name or the book he wrote.

Extensive hobo story with pictures.

I'm on the laptop so can't post it. But I posted before on BG hobo symbols that someone gave me years ago. I don't know if they use them anymore but was interesting. Sort of like how gypsies/travellers have their own language and culture and exist among us, secretly. From what I've seen locally there is a new breed of homeless types and less hobos and more goth/junkies who are rude and don't strum guitar or play harp for booze money but panhandle rudely and steal.

Anyone ever hopped a train? I unwisely did once on a lark. Not for hoboing or traveling but just cause in days of youthful highjinx. Only rode 10 miles or so. Looks easy but have to time it right and the ground with the stones they lay track is hard to run on, especially in boots. Open box car seemed best but actually hard to grip stuff to get up in. And if with friends you need a better plan about helping hauling stragglers in since the first up is the easiest but others running will get winded and/or trip etc. Getting off at speed also entails some planning. Not advised, don't try.

Don't know if it's this guy, but he wrote a book about his hobo experiences. https://www.amazon.com/Riding-Toward-Everywhere-William-Vollmann/dp/0061256765

I did a little digging around this weekend, and from what I'm seeing it looks like my dude just fucked up big time. He was walking along the Northeast Corridor, which is the fastest and busiest rail line in the entire country, and where he got hit is ridiculous it's just a overpass over a road. Twenty feet north or south of the bridge railing he would have been fine.

Hmmm.  I am given to understand that some of these trains actually travel so quietly that they can be underestimated in terms of speed/distance.  Overpass?  Was it such that he could have jumped with a chance at survival?  Could this just have been his chosen exit?

Egads.

I won't repost a photo of Kim Novak, as she is today, to prove Ms. Keller wasn't unique.  Thank me.

Sad story.   Looks like a porn star killed herself.  What a damn shame.  Such a beautiful girl too.  23 years old.
