The boys are live tonight and there's a short!

"RiffTrax Live: SANTA CLAUS is tonight!
The holiday comedy event of the year is finally upon us, when Mike, Kevin and Bill hit the stage to take on the K. Gordon Murray classic SANTA CLAUS! This classic 1959 Christmas movie pits Santa, who lives in a castle in outer space with his friend Merlin of course, against the forces of evil!

We'll be riffing the full director's cut of this movie LIVE from Nashville and beaming it through outer space to over 650 theaters across the United States for only ONE NIGHT - tonight, Thursday, December 4th, at 8pm Eastern / 7pm Pacific and tape delayed to 7pm Mountain / 8pm Pacific. If that wasn't enough, we're even riffing at NO extra charge a classic short from the good folks at ACI."

I just realized my radio's been off for two hours.  Guess my brain subconsciously protected itself tonite.

I've been using the White Noise Lite app.  "Crickets" sounds like the real thing and it's lights out in less than 10 minutes.  Better than Ambien ... err, Noory.  The best thing is I'm not jarred awake by a Nooryism.

So, it appears that George is the product that PR is selling and not C2C. They seem more invested in him than the show itself. The show has been hollowed out and only exists now as a stepping stone for George's future career moves. I saw the clip of him singing to his audience in Toronto- was it? I've gone to some smaller functions that had a line up of speakers on various paranormal/ufo topics and NO ONE did a lounge lizard act. Does he have that sort of following?
Yes, Noory does Elvis in Toronto, so to speak.  What a travesty.  I would fully understand Canada declaring war on C2C.  At least the Presley estate should file a suit for defamation and general disgust.

George asked the Ghost Lady his standard question: "What drives you . . . your passion?"

She replied that it was boredom because she lived in the "U.P."

Where's that?

Upper Pennsylvania?
Jorch probably thought she lived on a train.

I've commented in the past how those in ufology make themselves look silly and discredit their efforts with their comments, especially when talking about areas such as the military and science. This is noteworthy in that those are the two areas where the field's harshest critics come from. Knapp provided a good example of this early in the program last night during his plug for the latest "Knapp's News" feature on the C2C homepage.

In this discussion, Knapp referenced a link to a scanner site that would allow listeners to hear radio traffic of security forces at Area 51.  He then proceeded to explain to his audience the meanings of various "code lingo" terms and acronyms they might hear, concluding with "FOD". Said Knapp, "...and then this is interesting, F-O-D, 'foreign object debris', sure would like to know what that refers to".  It was clear by his tone he was implying this was something ominous the USAF was trying to hide behind some secretive military acronym.

As anyone with even the slightest knowledge of flying knows, "FOD" is a standard term used across all aviation, not just in the military.  It can be something internal or external to the aircraft, but in this case it's obvious the concern was external.  Foreign object debris can be damn near anything found along taxiways or runways that, if left in place, can cause damage to aircraft during taxi and/or takeoff and landing.  The most common concern for FOD is having it get sucked into an engine at takeoff, damaging or destroying the engine and resulting in a crash. Rocks, animals (dead or alive), parts that have fallen off other a/c or maintenance vehicles, even carelessly dropped personal items have all been responsible for lost a/c over the years.  The radio calls Knapp spoke of were nothing more than security forces being tasked to check for and remove any such debris on the airfield.  Nothing sinister here, this happens at airfields all over the world everyday.

Perhaps the best known example of a non-military, FOD-caused mishap was the loss of the Concorde taking off from Paris in 2000.  In that case, a metal piece that had fallen off another a/c on to the runway catastrophically shredded one of the Concorde's tires, resulting in the rupture of a wing fuel tank. Escaping fuel was then ignited by the a/c's engines, resulting in a massive fire and the loss of the Concorde and all aboard, as well as several on the ground.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzbNlaLyWuA
Nice summary.  I was surprised Knapp didn't know about Foreign Object Debris (FOD), especially with his background and experience.  At least he was quick to acknowledge his faux pas once some listeners clued him in.  If it had been Noory, I would have expected him to ignore his ignorance, continue to make a big deal about nothing, and label anybody who attempted to provide clarification as a "hater."

As far as last night's guests, I could have used more of the first hour's and none of "Mr. Blink."  Mr. Blink had me blinking out before his first hour of a bunch of nothing was over.

It was still good to hear a host who was actually interested in the show and not just "mailing it in."

I just remembered it's Knapp Night.  A fitting way to bring a Thanksgiving weekend to a close.  I am thankful we still have George Knapp for the little bit of quality paranormal we still receive on C2C.  To quote a former host, "We're all in."

"Mitchell" is noteable for so many things.  The one I most greatly appreciate is the exquisite pairing of Joe Don with Linda Evans.  A testament to Hollywood's never ending genius.  I must admit to being forever disappointed there has never been a pairing of Boss Hogg with Mary Tyler Moore.  Now that would have been perfection.

Also, the next RiffTrax Live will be next Thursday, hopefully at a theater near you.  The guys will be riffing "Santa Claus," in keeping with the holiday spirit.

I caught a little of the Pod People today.  That movie is so awful, a little was more than enough.  The Joel and bots break segments were quite clever, though, especially their take on New Age music, as produced by "Some Guys in Space."

"Mitchell" is definitely in my top three.  I've had a VHS tape since it was first released.  What could be better than watching a suave Joe Don Baker belching down a brew in front of the SOL crew.  We're talking prime MST3K entertainment, my friends.  Take that, Gnoory!

The amount of work he puts into every show really is astounding. His style may not be to everyone's liking, but he works his ass off, and it shows.
You have to admire the guy for his effort, all the while he's wrestling with his health.

I can take or leave his intro music but I really liked the music he plays at the end of each hour.  When he first came on several years ago, I emailed him, asking what the music was and he emailed back.  At least the message was signed "Clyde."  He didn't even tell me "to getta life," as certain other poser hosts have been known to do.

The music is from "Edward Scissorhands."

Do you watch it on the this channel?  That's the one that shows it late Sunday where I live. I always liked the stories a lot better than the Twilight Zone's, even though the OL monsters were usually pretty cheesy.

You got it RGG, it's "This."  Completely agree with vs. Twilight Zone.  I love both but OL is a little more funky scifi with most episodes.  Kind of a similar vibe to '50s scifi flicks.  Plus it of course has the "liv'n my childhood again" thing going for me, too.  It was a really cool show back in the 60's, especially with the classic intro.

That's interesting, Bateman.  I didn't think C2M was burning down the house, follower-wise.  Also interesting is this squib from that story/press release:
"The radio program is syndicated and distributed by C2M Network, which is owned and operated by Wells and based in Dallas.  In addition, Wells plans to develop new talent for syndication with C2M Network".
Thanks for posting the link, Bateman.

Hmmmm, Wells owning a network.  Wells not exactly in love with PremRat.  I wonder just who happens to share similar feelings?  Naaah, it couldn't possibly happen in July of next year.

I catch bits of Beck's show and it's more of a soap opera these days. I remember him before he got into the political phase of his career- he used to be funny. I've come to really dislike his religious prophet act.

I've seen him remake himself over many years. The latest health crisis is really odd, too. But many suspect it's all business.

Raw Story has a good article:

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/11/glenn-becks-diagnosis-and-treatment-are-quackery-say-medical-experts/
Similar thoughts here, regarding Beck.  He'd make a good brother for Whitley Streiber.

I'm glad if I happen to tune in and Beck is absent and it's just the Pat and Stu show.
