On a recent show, maybe the tribute show, George mentioned about his early days on Coast, when he used to fill in for Art.  He said how alot of times he'd have to be ready right up till the last minute, not knowing if Art would actually make the show, or they'd flip the switch and send it over to him.  I absolutely believe this to be true.  Whatever you say about him, George stepped up like a champ, and is still doing it, night after night.

After the story about the salmonella outbreak with Rose Acre Farm eggs, doubtless a disgusting factory farm, the CDC basically says don't eat raw eggs, ever. I can understand that when the chickens are raised in horrible conditions, but it is strange to say that when they are humanely cared for. They say don't even eat the eggs of backyard poultry, chickens that are more likely to be clean and to have safe eggs. They also say to refrigerate eggs. I never put mine in the fridge. A carton might stay on the kitchen shelf at room temperature weeks before Ifinish it, and the flavor never goes off whether i eat them raw or cooked..

Most are. I am not an eggspert but I believe washing the eggs makes them more susceptible to spoilage as well as it remives some type of coating. Or I could be imagining that part.

George did say not too long ago that he spotted Donald Trump decades ago at events in Hawaii where beautiful women wore bikinis (and make-up, high heels, leg paint, hair tint, jewrelry, etc...).

How awful to place such a high value on name dropping, that the conversation by necessity infers soft porn.  George was married 27 years straight, with only a very small break between marriages.  I wonder how his wives felt about him carousing.  Waiting for a more respectable opportunity to name drop, or omitting the soft porn inference, would have seemed more appropriate for George's mixed audience.

Here is Part of the answer. From the wikipedia in that link, US eggs are refrigerated because the hens are not vacinated against salmonellosis. INfected hens pass the bacteria to the egg. Refrigeration must slow its growth. In Europe, all hens are vacinatted against salmonellosis. in Europe, eggs are not refrigerated or washed because that can trigger or contaminate them with salmonella through condesnsation of moisture. It looks technical, whatever is going on, but that's the gist of it.
