Well hell, if new spending is free, let's start by buying everyone a new house, a new car, and send them off on luxury vacations.

The answer is right there on the link. It shows legislation he sponsored, and those which were enacted.  Also, his role on the leadership graph is very fine, right in the middle on one score and a bit left of center on the other score.

Also, most of his missed votes were in 2007.  Sure, this lowered his whole average of the cluster of years you cite.  But remember, when he wasn't voting, it mayhave been because he was campaigning.  Not that that is a good excuse, but it sure is a mitigating factor!

Also, according to https://www.govtrack.us/congress/members/robert_aderholt/400004
other senators also had times of missed votes.  This here longterm senator has a track record within normal range.  But, if you cluster his averages into a few years at a time, like you did with Obama, you will see he had eras when he was way below average.  As we have heard, math can be used in a variety of ways to prove a variety of points which are of necessarily representative on the whole.

I hate when I do that.  :-[ Yeah, he did sponsor 4 bills.  I stand corrected.  He did have a very poor track record for voting during his tenure though.

I don't care for socialism.  I think when you have a distant government in Washington controlling things, inefficiencies abound.  If you want a nanny state then let it be at the local and state level.  It is at least liable to be more efficient than the feds.

I believe in a minimal federal government that provides security and negotiates with other nations.  Maybe a few other things but damned if I can remember right now.

I am reasonable, I think.  A lot of people here would let fly with disparaging remarks.  Obviously I should have read the whole link I provided.  I was obviously a dumbass but I'm allowed that once a week.  :D ;)

Below the 50th percentile in leadership and there were only 8 senators ranked farther to the left. Please don’t vote.

25% of his sponsored bills were to name a post office building in East St Louis. True leadership. Unparalled mastery at reaching across the aisle. If you like your doctor you can keep your doctor.

What am I, the only Democratic leaning individual here?  Does Smackstar count?  I really think there are enough millions of Americans who share many of my views that I just don't think Obama apologetics are that important.

He is out now.  Did I bring him up?  Let's thank Michelle for the new food pyramid to reduce obesity, obesity which is caused by plastic in the environment.  Plastic, an insulin hormone disrupter.  But the new food pyramid will help reduce consumption of breads and grains while increasing vegetables.  Thank you, Mrs. Obama!

It is a sign of Trump's blah, that we are all still sitting here discussing Obama.

Not really. You brought this up and your thinking about politics is just so fucked up that I'm starting to understand why California is imploding. Almost everyone on the West coast seems to be living in thier imagination more than reality. Yeah, let's have an astrologer investigate Obama's citizenship. ::) ;D

Yes they did. When you take the income limit off of medicare you tax the citizens. When you add a device tax the citizen pays it. When you tax tanning beds to pay for someone else’s healthcare you tax the citizens. When you add $10 trillion in deficit spending over 8 years doubling the national debt you have more than doubled the tax burden on citizens.  Medicaid is paid by federal and state. Where the fuque do you think those dollars come from??? The great ObamaFairy?

The tax is not even one percent and it only affects less than one percent of households!  So, unless y'all are in the top 1%, you don't pay that tax.

I know.  He was never a leader in the Senate and calling government healthcare, Obamacare, gives him too much credit.  He only signed the bill, he didn't write it.

I never said I'm in CA!
And it worked for the Magi and Jesus, so that kind of says it all.
Would you like a complimentary natal interpretation?  I did a couple others for people here.  It was all kept in PMs of course.  Painless, free, good reading.  I only see the positives, or challenging areas.  I never see anything shocking, I don't believe in that.  Its mostly generalities, how to keep bringing out your best self.  No personal identifers are needed.  I don't even get as specific as actual birthplace, just the time zone is good enough for my purposes.  But, just the clock time, day, month, year, time zone, and if you want to add birth place it reveals more but is not necessary.  I keep it private, but my interpretations are so general that there is nothing risky or embarrassing even if someone else read it.

I do talk about George's chart, because he is a public figure.  And I mention that Whitley Streiber has similar aspects.

Next?

I still say Delilah and George compare to each other because both are usually peaceful and late-night.

It's only because you're a mental weaking that you have to frame it like that. Democrats are ALWAYS trying to sow race division. We oppose their ideas, not their skin color, you fucking bigot! ::)

Which president was it that kept giving debt forgiveness from us to a whole bunch of other countries?  Remember that.

Most of them.  And all together it amounts to a drop in the bucket compared to the $10 Trillion in new ObamaDebt.  And that's just outstanding bond - it doesn't count the unfunded future liabilities (Social Security, Medicare, federal pensions, ObamaCare, etc) that went up during those dreadful eight years.  That's another $50 to $80 Trillion, depending on how it's calculated.

That's a cheap shot.  It is not about the color of a person's skin but the ideology of said person. Can't you figure that out?  You're better than resorting to shaming techniques to defend yourself, aren't you?

Not defense, offense.  I am offended that this thread picks on three black people, praises none, and is totally off topic!

Not to mention that after I dissed the racist Rolling Stones here, some member goes and makes a praise thread for their racists asses.  They owe the world an apology and retraction .

I don't have a bone to pick with Oprah.  Just rather tired of her.  As for the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, he is a real racist.

I'm all for talking about great black people like Martin Luther King, Ben Carson, Herman Cain and the like.  Maybe you should start a thread about great black people.  After all this is a Noory thread.

As for the Stones being racist, you don't know what you're talking about.  They were inspired as many British bands were by the great black blues musicians like Big Bill Broonzy, Willie Dixon, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters and the like. You want to talk about great black people, there you go.  There wouldn't have been a Rolling Stones without them.

Jojo,

I have another question for you just reading over the thread.  At one point you say in this thread that Hitler's crimes were a long time ago yet at the same time you say that slavery prior to 1865 is still relevant.  How so? Why do you discern that there is a difference? You do realize that what has kept the black people down are the Democratically controlled urban centers?  Democratic leaders created the ghettos in the inner city.  The blacks traded one kind of slavery for another kind of slavery.

Also I do want to clarify some things.  It is true slavery was the great evil of the world up to the 1800's (and still today in the Middle East and Africa) but there was another evil that was in some cases worse.  Have you heard of indentured servitude?  Many laborers in the US well into the 1800's were white indentured servants who were contracted to work for 7 - 10 years.  Many of these laborers died due to abuse from their masters.  Whereas a slavemaster would want to get the most out of his slave laborers and hold onto them for decades, the indentured servants masters worked them to the bone and many times the servants died before completing their servitude.  This was rampant throughout all colonies and  states.  Nobody ever talks about these slaves and most of them were white.

Also not all slaveowners were white. I urge you to read up on Anthony Johnson, an Angolan who was one of the first slaveowners in the Virginia colony.  He was not an exception.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Johnson_(colonist)

I'm sorry that anybody was treated terribly by others.  Wrongs were done to the blacks, the Indians and whites. I'm sure many answered for these sins if not in this life then in the next.  That is no reason to continue this talk that people today who had nothing to do with slavery or indentured servitude should pay for the sins of their forefathers.  That is wrong.

Oh and another great black American is Thomas Sowell, an economist who is brilliant.  You should read his work. It might open your eyes.

Her "thinking," on politics, if I can call it that, is just so messed up and all over the place. To make the stuggle of this nation the struggle between black and white is a misdirection. The real struggle of this nation is and always has been the struggle of free people against the British monarchy. If we can just try to remember that things will probably get better. ;)

Speaking of British monarchy, my wife and I caught this movie on Masterpiece Theater recently called King Charles III.  It was a hoot.  Poor Charles. He becomes king after his mum dies. Parliament wants to restrict the freedom of the press and King Charles will not go along with them.  Charles dissolves Parliament and then William and Kate plot to become King and Queen. It is all done in Shakespearean blank verse and it was damn good.  If you get a chance, watch it.

God bless my mom but she liked the Royal Family. I don't get it. I'm a bit of an Anglophile myself but I'm too much of an American to have any use for the monarchy though if I was chosen for a knighthood, I wouldn't pass it up.  I'm a bit of a romantic and love Camelot and the chivalrous Knights of the Round Table.  That's not going to happen though.

My politics are very mainstream, typical Dem-leaning politics.

Racial strife is one of many struggles here. I was right to point out three Blacks have been disparaged, in my opinion, unfairly, in this totally off topic thread.

Yes, from what I hear our independence was sold after the Great Depression.  If true, that is clearly unimportant.
