Michael Savage

136 or 142

Brent Baker of the Media Research Center also said: "From my listening to his radio show, he's less any kind of a genuine conservative and more of an actor playing out a liberal's caricature of how conservatives are hateful, mean, ill-informed, prejudiced and immature, a stereotype he regularly fulfills."

That is the suspicion of some Conservatives.

I think it has more to do with rivalries between Conservative radio show hosts, and which hosts individual Conservatives prefer and befriend.

He's definitely has a different style from the rest

I didn't say YOU banned him.

Yeah, they've banned a few Islamo-Fascists.  Not all of them though, not even close.

The British government is afraid of the Islamists and coddles them - having imported a critical mass of Moslems in the first place, and adds people like Savage to the banned list to make it appear 'balanced'.  Those putting him on and keeping him on the list are a bunch of politically correct bed wetters

Yeah okay... How do you explain the Jewish extremist, the Russian Neo Nazis? Savage nee Weiner, didn't help himself by calling the then Home Secretary a lunatic. Not exactly going to endear himself with any department.

How so?

His PhD is from Cal-Berkeley the top public university in the world

Yeah; have a look what his PHD is in...

Get back to me.

Oh, to save you the trouble:

His thesis was called "Nutritional Ethnomedicine in Fiji"

Pretty sure he doesn't give a shit about going to the UK

They can go ahead and ban me as well, no worries

For someone who didn't give a shit, he sure made a fuss over it; even threatening to sue the government! As I said, I'd have welcomed him, see him on a talk show and be ritually taken apart by those who aren't as overawed as he might find back home.

He claims his 2 Masters Degrees (from U of Hawaii) are in Medical Botany and Medical Anthropology, and his PhD is in Epidemiology and Nutrition Sciences.  Yes, he did research in Fiji.

Long before his radio career he wrote well over a dozen books mostly on various health and nutrition topics

So, you know, just another kook

The latter outweighing the former by a margin methinks.

Speculating on the true nature of Savage's motivations has to be my number 1 favorite thing on either this forum or Free Republic.  It's more fun than collecting Noory gaffes or keeping track of cancer quacks and crazies on C to C.

Mark Levin and Savage have been regularly making anonymous digs at each other.  It's pretty funny. Savage digs at Levin for being part of the Ed Meese team, among other things.

I would give a lot to know what makes Savage tick. For example, he hates sports fans--you should have heard the venom he was spewing against SF Giants fans the other nights.  It was hilarious a few years ago when his show aired on a sports station in CA.  He had to walk back some of the cruel things he had said about sports fans over the years. I think his problem was a lot that the Giants fans were old women.  He hates old women(except his mother.  She's dead now, but he worshipped her.)  He's like Tom Leykis, who generally believes that women like me aren't worth the air they breathe.

It is amusing to hear Savage tell people to vote GOP when for years he's been telling people theres not a dimes worth of difference between the two. Its amusing to hear him tell people not to support third parties when only a year or so ago he was pushing his third "nationalist" party.

My best guess is that his ratings are slipping, stations are dropping him and he's throwing stuff against the wall to see if it sticks.  Or he's crazy.

I too think it's silly to ban him, but Yorkshire pud is correct that a fair number of people have been banned from entering the U.K:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_banned_from_entering_the_United_Kingdom
That is true though they let a surprising number of malcontents and even terrorists in. I recall a few years back that another of Obama's brothers got banned entry due to his accused sex crimes against a 13 year old. He tried to enter under a false name also. (Not sure if he pulled a Soetoro or what fake name he used.)
http://online.wsj.com/articles/SB124586719017648795
The UK blocked whereas we let in his drunken uncle and his "dear aunty" of one whom got in a drunk driving accident while illegal alien and another bilked Boston public housing while being an illegal alien. Both were allowed to stay despite their illegal status and crimes. The Uncle even demanded to speak to Obama during his arrest. Of course, the administration had ZERO influence on the decision to allow both of them to stay here.

I listen to Savage on occasion, he's on in my local OTA market, and I prefer him over the lame local show the other station has on, sometimes I just switch to the local music radio station that I like if he's too boring, or I am not wanting to hear whatever he is talking about...  He's okay I guess, although I seem to recall listening to him in the past and he would go on a yelling sort of diatribe and at some point pop off with "red diaper doper babies" I thought that phrase was hiliarious for some reason back when he did that schtick, and I've noticed when listening lately that he doesn't do it anymore.  It wasn't until recently that I connected the "dots" on this phrase and found out that "red diaper baby" was actually a term that reefered to something...

BlaHbity, I found it funny that he was going almost apopolectic (sp) on air when he did that and I notice he still goes a bit apopolectic but seems to rein it in sans the "red diaper doper babies" (tm?) line), still more BlaHbity from ME, get to the point/question pate!

So when did he stop doing the "red diaper doper baby" thing?  I actually found it entertaining, even if with my new found understanding of the term, I think I still might...  Although, I don't think it will stop me from switching to that music station when/if I grow tired of the guy...

yumyumtree

You are right, come to think of it.  I think he stopped about the time he came to Cumulus.

Red Diaper baby is someone, usually from NYC or some urban eastern place, often Jewish, who was born to leftist parents.  He added the "doper" part.  I don't think he originated the red diaper term.  Like "parlor pink" or "limousine liberal", to describe certain New York types, it's been around a long time.  But Savage often claims he originated these terms, and others copied him.

Does the term have other connotations?  Maybe it does, that I'm aware of,a nd that's why he stopped using it.  Remember how he used the term "teabagger" when he may have not understood what it really meant  and why tea partiers themselves seldom use it.

...

That is fun!  As a casual (read off and on) listener, I did not catch that.

You must be some sort of encyclopeadic (sp) listener to catch that!

Congrats! (or Congratulations!@ I just learnd the splet of that yesterday?!?) It matters naught.  Good catch!

You should know that I have made Iced Tea(bagger) for some time now...

And your silly (tea-bagger, ball on head or ball-in-mouth{you wish} sort of fantasy) misambiguation (sp) of T(axed) E(nough) A(lready) has fallen on whichever ears you direct it upon...  I guess they hear it...

do they like it?  Your polls will tell you I suppose...

I for one who hangs up on pollsters will tell you that you lose.

yumyumtree

I continue to listen to Savage out of morbid fascination.  I can't look away.

I remember this episode well.  It was 2010, and Savage was interviewing some GOP  activist in MA either just before or just after Scott Brown was running for Senate. (Brown has since fallen out of favor to some extent, but that's another story.) Savage used the phrase.  I could hear the guy doing a double-take, then darned if Savage didn't say it again, and again, the guy was clearly unsettled by it, but ignored it to be polite.

When the tea party was in its embryonic stages, Savage said, "Tea parties are for children."  You can see why a lot of conservatives don't trust him.

It was really amusing earlier this fall to hear him be so critical of Gerry Brown, when of course he donated to Brown's campaign in 2006.  This is probably the biggest thing to make conservatives distrust him, though there are a lot of others.

I had never heard the term tea bag or teabagger used this way either.  Don't forget, I'm almost 60.  Sometime in the 90s, a lot of sexual stuff started going over my head.  A lot of things considered outre when I was a young woman in the 70s is barely worth mentioning now.

yumyumtree

So last week Savage was hepped up on the Eric Harner affair, and although I haven't seen video, I tend to agree. The police were excessive, and Harner need not have died.  Certainly this is a very different case than the Michael Brown case.

But this week he's pissed off because people are rioting in Berkley.  He keeps calling for "law and order" and doesn't know why people like Ted Cruz  and rand Paul aren't calling for" law and order".  Well, it could be that it's because that phrase  became a dog whistle for things most of us would rather put behind us.  People like me are old enough to remember this, and Savage should be.  Kind of like his brilliant idea for a "Nationalist" party.

This week he also claims that he's the only person in talk radio who has fun, even though Rush claims to have fun, and Savage himself sounds effing miserable much of the time.

He is also launching on his old enemy, Dianne Feinstein, o ver this CIA business.  All I will say is I thought this was all hashed over years ago.  Waterboarding is or isn't torture, depending who you ask.  McCain is against it, Cheney is for it, blah-blah.  We've been over all this before.

So that's what's going on with Savage.

Juan

Savage is proof of the old axiom that there's a thin line between genius and insanity.

The Michael Savage show is best when Michael isn't there, i.e. when he has a guest host. For example, Jeff Kuhner, spelled K-U-"HAICH"-N-E-R. I'm surprised he let's him do it. "Michael, my buddy" .... Kuhner sounds a bit like his nemesis, you know the one he say sounds like an old Yenta getting a hysterectomy without anesthesia.

yumyumtree

I think Kuhner is one of those fill-ins who spends a lot of time fawning over Savage.  Don't like him, but he's not as bad as DePetro.

On Fri. Savage talked about porn.

Find it sort of interesting that Michael Savage has now decided to change his program's function.. no more politics in 2015, but instead he will be a 'life coach' .. and he just copyrighted the term 'unprotected talk' which quite frankly is nothing different from what Art Bell did for 15 years..

yes it appears he seems to be doing unscreened calls, but i think they are run through a producer first

yumyumtree

Back in the 80s, Larry King used to claim that calls to his CNN TV show were unscreened, but trust me, they were screened, to some extent.

This is one of scores of gimmicks that Savage has thrown against the wall to see if it sticks.  It will be interesting to see what happens with this scholarship project.

He's really goofing on Jake Tapper every chance he gets now because Tapper said something mean about him a couple of months back, but I forget what it was.

If Savage were really not screening calls at all, he's get more of the kind of calls George Noory gets.  He'd also get obscene calls, calls from mental institutions, calls from that guy who thinks Stephen King was behind the John Lennon murder and most especially, people who hate his guts and want to challenge him to stop trashing other hosts every 10 minutes.

If it were truly Unprotected Talk®, then he wouldn't resort to his old tricks of potting down the caller screaming over them, then ask a question with the caller still minimised and say, "see no answer". How the hell can they answer if they are muted? Another one is when he answers a caller and his producer or him (I'm not sure who runs the board) doesn't pot he caller up so he ends up saying "You have to be ready when I call your name. I'm just going to stop doing Unprotected Talk® that's all" Weiner the fuching asshole. God forbid he has a new book and it's all me, me, me, me, me, me, I, I, I, I, "you people don't get it, you people are really stupid.
Do us a favor, stick to telling the campfire stories we've all heard 4 times before, lay off other hosts, it makes you look weak if you have to bash them to make yourself bigger than them.
Stick with Nancy Lagosi, Boner, Boxer, Obummer and the rest. You are not the latest thing since colour toilet paper or granola. I makes me turn the station or as I usually listen, skip the podcast.
I love how he calls his family name as wine-er not wiener like a hotdog.
Swim naked lately with leftist radicals like Ginsberg as you did before, Mr. Savage?

I find myself asking that same question of myself lately. He is an enigma wrapped in a riddle. I listen because 20% of what he says is good, whilst 80% is tripe. I would hope some day (it happened about 2 days ago) that someone would put him in his place. I only get pissed off when he contradicts himself or goes on a me, me, me show. I foresee him going away soon because he has really been off his game lately.

"Savage" is someone I feel is genuinely suffering from untreated mental illness. What you hear are the ramblings of an insane person. He has no idea how to do a radio program - the only reason he's had some semblance of success is because his stream of consciousness blather occasionally resonates for one reason or another.

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/michael-savage-renews-cumulus-contract/article/2558648

QuoteThough national radio host Michael Savage is in the process of an evolution from conservative flamethrower to "life coach," his show will remain at Cumulus stations. Savage has signed a "long-term" deal with Cumulus, according to a press release.

"I'm not shying away from politics and I'm not running for office like others in the media," Savage said in an apparent response to radio industry insiders and media observers who believe he is pivoting from politics to lifestyle issues as a resulting of declining audiences for conservative talk radio.

Sorry, but that's exactly why this 'pivot' is happening. Get ready for more riveting segments on his mother's meatballs. He's like Jean Shepherd if he was an angry repressed homosexual.

ItsOver

Savage has his moments, good and bad.  Loved listening to him talk about his custom Hellcat.
