Totally harmless back then, no messianic moralizing for profit. Just a late night goofy show.

Speaking of suicide attempts, Carolla rejected the role on the Stern show that went to Artie Lange in 2001
I think it's four "celebrities" dead since 2011, but that number is sure to rise. I guess going on that show is a prerequisite to croaking in LA.

Celebrity Rehab deaths:

Jeff Conaway - Dead.
Rodney King - Dead.
Joey Kovar - Dead.
Mindy McCready - Dead.
Mike Starr - Dead.

Those are all I could find.  Perhaps I'm missing a name or two.

Wow, 78. In my mind he's a teenager who won in Moscow.

...aaaand in my mind he's frozen as a Tin Pan Alley guy who died, uh, 50 years ago....

Whoa, dude, didn't expect that. I am a Soft Machine fan since high school (decades ago), their music was formative for me. I'm sorry to hear about this.

You never heard Dale Robertson whine or opine about one damn thing. He did his job. Quietly. Strongly. Competently. And he shut up about it and got on with it. Vaya con Dios, amigo.

What killed him? Too many blows to the head?

I'm thinking stroke.  The results aren't in, but he claimed to have been feeling lightheaded while riding his bike.  If it's stroke, people will say blows to the head; if it's heart attack, people will say steroids.  My guess? A retired pro athlete who was still in shape dying at 43 - genetics. Sure, other things may have exacerbated the situation.

*in August of '46.

But thanks for the update.
Not sure if you're trying to be funny, or if you don't get how this thread works.  It's not for posting the deaths of celebrities that have been dead for a long time.  It's recently dead celebrities, for other coastgabbers that maybe hadn't heard the news yet. And then discussions of said dead celebs ensue.

Amen.

... and, of course, there's a Wiki on Phillips which reveals:

"She appeared on the third season of Celebrity Rehab, which aired in January and February 2010. She later discussed her recovery on the March 17, 2010 episode of The View."
Will she make it to 69?  Heck, will she make it to next week?
