Firefox Sucks

MV/Liberace!

i just got prompted to update to firefox 3.6.  so i did.    firefox 3.6 sucks.

i now have a browser that skips and lags as i scroll up and down the page in gmail.  wtf is happening to firefox?  don't the people at mozilla know google is out to eat their lunch with the snappy chrome browser?

it seems like firefox is  becoming the new internet explorer.  unfortunately, chrome is lacking in too many ESSENTIAL features to make the switch, or i would.  what are those features, you ask?  print preview and default page zoom percentage/level.  yes, yes, i know you can do a ctrl/+ in order to zoom in on a page, but chrome is too dumb to remember that page's zoom level the way firefox does.  if you're using chrome on a high resolution monitor, you're just as well to take a shank to your eye sockets since the text will be small enough to render you suicidal.  and google calls chrome's current iteration version 4?  what?   puh-lease.  it's still a 0.x product if you ask me.

correction:
firefox 3.6 is doing the herky-jerky scroll thing on EVERY site, including this one.  not just gmail.   nicccccccccce.

MV/Liberace!

okay, then.  it's not just my imagination.  firefox 3.6 really is the steaming pile of excrement i purported it to be.  i downloaded and reinstalled the version of firefox just prior to 3.6, and everything is absolutely fine.  unbelievable.  if you're having the same problem with 3.6 as i, you can get version 3.5.8 by clicking here.

I concur....try seamonkey!  It has given me hours of joy, and it is so eager to please it can even be trained!!!!!

the problem i see with seamonkey is that it includes too many features i just don't use or need.  for instance, it's got an email/newsgroup client which i wouldn't use because i go to gmail.com for mail and i don't use newsgroups (don't even know what one is, to be honest with you). i wouldn't use the web-feed reader or the html editor, and i definitely wouldn't use the IRC client.

i think this is why chrome is ultimately going to swallow up the browser market.  give it 3 or 4 years and it will have all of the features people demand of it while still maintaining that simplicity people love about it.  right now it's just too spartan for my taste.

Man, I totally agree with you.  The new version is like being handed an uncooked slab of rotten meat with a healthy compliment of flies.  They give a totally new meaning to "beta-release".  It made me (-shiver-) actually dust off the ever clunky IE for another frustrating go-around.

Ummm, I am very impressed with the newest version of Chrome.  Anyone else have any thoughts?

it's good, but the extensions i've installed seem poorly developed and not ready for primetime.  i'm sure that in just a year or two, i'll be using chrome.  it's just not where i'd like it to be quite yet.

Just a heads up...
this site runs about 100x snappier when using the Google Chrome browser when compared to the sluggish, bloated Firefox.  I didn't even waste any time comparing with Internet Exploder.

Get Google Chrome here.

after 2 weeks of using chrome exclusively, i just can't continue.  flash problems are RAMPANT.  i can't even stream my own podcast from the embedded player at radiotrainwreck.com.  if firefox could become as snappy as chrome and maintain its functionality, it would be a total winner, as i see it.  i'm back to firefox, but i've downgraded to 3.5.8 which is far faster than the bloated pig known as 3.6.

puddintame

Oh crap!  I am so very disappointed.  I have relied on them (Firefox) since my "learning days"!  Dadgum #*@(!()#!

OK.  I'm off to download "Chrome".  God, please help me.

Oh damn.  My last post, I was going to Chrome.  Now, I don't know what to do.  I suppose, if all else fails, I will forget Chrome and try to go back to Firefox 3.5.8.

Oh woe.  I will just go where those brighter and more experienced than I recommend.  I am at your mercy, guys!

I still use Firefox almost exclusively.   I'm not having any trouble.   Please God don't let those be famous last words.

No troubles with Firefox here either. I  mean it crashes more often than IE ever did, but with better security and Adblocker Plus, I don't think I'd go with any other browser.

Oh, no. I just "upgraded" Sunday. Then I had to update flash, because Mozilla said not to do so would cause stability issues. Then I had to go back and finally download Thunderbird (my original goal). Thunderbird doesn't seem to work for my intended purpose, the flash file seems to be corrupted and my machine is doing weird things. Dammit, will I never learn to check comments everytime I make changes like that? I've uninstalled everything that has anything to do with Google, (I recommend "scroogle.org", it's sort of a proxy just for google). I'm in IE right now, but I depend on Firefox for my porno addiction. :P

i just got prompted to update to firefox 3.6.  so i did.    firefox 3.6 sucks...............

I get constant hanging and when sites like youtube play flash, sometimes the video chokes and catches up. This has been through maybe 10-15 different flash players through various updates from Adobe.

Opera, Chrome even IE are fine. Something is drastically wrong with how FF 3.6 deals with invoking children/plugins and with how things are prioritized.

Also, even without flash heavy sites, this browser takes up between 800MB and 1GB of memory for 60 tabs worth of pages.

Its becoming unbearably slow. I have a 3GHz quadcore with 8GB of RAM and a 15,000 RPM disk subsystem. Everything else screams.

wow!  it sounds like firefox has devolved even further since i last used it as my primary browser.  i've been on google chrome now for several months, and i have no plans to look back.  firefox is dead to me, and apparently many others, as well.  it's really sad to see because for so long firefox was so promising.  the developers seem to have totally lost sight of what it is people want from a browser in 2010.  they seem to be operating on the model of, "at least it's not internet explorer."  i've got news for them:  even internet explorer will be a preferable option to firefox with the release of IE9.  why?  hardware accelerated rendering, my friends.  it's a beautiful thing.  the beta of IE9 is available for those using vista and win7.  i'd suggest giving it a try.  MS appears to have nailed it finally.  however, i'm sure all of the other browsers will integrate hardware accelerated rendering quite soon... so i still have no plans to leave chrome.

Glad I viewed this thread. I just installed Linux Mint 10 as a dual boot with XP. I really like it and debated which browser to play with as its default is FireFox. Sounds like a good way to try out Google Chrome.

chrome runs wonderfully on ubuntu and its derivatives.

Anyone who has firefox knows how slow it is when loading the program, in the morning I used to start my pc then double click the firefox icon and then go back to bed for 15 min, thats how slow it was,  >:(

I got a really bad virus about 3 weeks ago, called watermark, after trying just about every spyware/virus remover on my pc, including system restore, I was starting to think about reinstalling windows, but I would lose months of data that would take too long to backup. Then I decided to uninstall internet explorer, that took some time to do becuase I had to go into every file to delete it, and after I deleted IE I would find another IE program on my pc, I got IE deleted completly off my pc. Right after I got rid of IE, my computer become faster, and now firefox loads up 10000% faster, takes about 5 sec for it to load, and its been like that since I got rid of IE. So...I think alot of problems are becuase of IE, I think IE promotes alot of spyware and virus, becuase ever since, my computer has had no problems, unlike before where I was at least once every week geting rid of some bug, small it might be was still slowing up my pc. I never used IE, but becuase im using Broadband, I belive that IE would be running no matter what, even if I canceled it in msconfig. So im just letting everyone know that IE could be the issue with alot of your pc problems,if your not comfortable uninstaing IE, then Dont. But I did I have had a dream pc ever since.
