The 380th Expeditionary Wing used to be the 380th Bombardment Wing when I was stationed in Plattsburgh. After BRAC in 1991, it was recommisioned. It roots trace back all the way to WWII

Cool, and interesting that the chase car driver is also required to be qualified in the plane so that he knows what is happening versus simply providing distance information. Would be funny see the sales people for the various cars trying to get the gig. And WHY hasn't a car mfg used that stuff in a commercial? Would be good ones!

And "they" say you can't learn stuff on BG! I still think car mfgs should use the U2 chase/help in their car commercials. Very cool.

You're lucks in. I was at school with James May. You've learned something else.  :) Very bright lad, excellent pianist.

Because that's no moon...     It's a Space Station !      ;D

If it aint broke, already build, and proves reliable I say use it. Especially when you can upgrade certain things or when the more modern stuff isn't tried and tested or more open to modern day vulnerabilities (hacking, foreign made parts, etc.) It still amazes me though. I recently heard that some of our ICBM facilities are still using flopping drives and old computers, I guess the same rational- not internet connected, harder to hack, still works, and can perform the basic functions needed without "frills." Not sure on the veracity.
Don't forget about 'availability of replacement parts'. (Good points BTW)
Was this the article you saw ?

Old tech does have advantages in security. Imagine using all updated systems where the supply chain for the new tech, is controlled by the Chinese, because of outsourcing. Now imagine a backdoor built into the firmware itself that can't be eradicated except by flashing the firmware (extra cost + some one with specialized expertise .)  Now imagine the Chinese, or Korea able to launch our missiles at anyone they choose, through the back-doored firmware - across the internet, at a moments notice.
Onsite C2C (Command & Control) is required for security, as it should be.
Look at the stupidity of the power companies. In order to automate, and cut their workforce (cost overhead), they have connected their systems to the internet for their C2C. They are hackable, and I wonder how many of these brown-outs, and black-outs aren't really test attacks that are kept hushed up.
Just call me paranoid...      or maybe not.   ;)

this is cool...

That is really cool however,

Why is the earth in the airplane video round yet flat in this one and many others? Is it the lens or what? This balloon is nearly twice as high up as the max height that a U2 Spy plane can reach.

Did you play it? In the first twenty seconds the horizon changes from concave to convex. I suspect the change is due to the lens beng behind a curved cover that is altering the perspective. Factors will be the lens' focal length and the compound curve of the canopy/ cover.

The Earth is not flat.

"Hughes promised the flat-Earth community that he would expose the conspiracy with his steam-powered rocket, which will launch from a heavily modified mobile home â€" though he acknowledged that he still had much to learn about rocket science."

I knew something related to a trailer park would find it's way into the picture.  The Darwin Award never seems to have a shortage of competitors.

Remember when you were a kid and schoolroom world maps came to many tapered points at the top?  Because the map represented a globe with coordinates?  Well, if the Earth really were flat, then I dont think those specific coordinates wouldn't work.

And, if it were flat, then how come the sun and moon look obviously round!

And, have the flat Earthers ever said what shape it is, if it is flat?  Could be any shape, not just square. Or, are they not only claiming flatness, but also squareness?

The flat-earthers are all over the maps on this. Some describe it as a flat circular earth so it "behaves" or "looks" like a globe but really just a flat circle. Some claim it is ringed by ice (which is what we call Antarctica.) Some claim it is flat on the surface but also contains some depth (think of like a flat jellyfish with tentacles etc hanging down off a, relatively, flat surface covered by some kind of dome (where the sun, moon, and stars are set.) A recent guy on C2C claimed that the "reason" the oceans are salty is to prohibit/slow-down exploration since humans cannot drink saltwater. The recent guest also mentioned feeling "sorry" for RCH since he is so wrong about the secret NASA space program and his other theories.

The rocket-man launch to prove the flat-earth has been delayed. A conspiracy, no doubt!

There are three Earths. The Internet connects them all.

Hence, the difficulty with peer review.

If the earth was round, we'd all fall off! (Except for those at the top.)  Those who somehow didn't fall off would also be standing sideways or upside down.   ;)

America’s flat-Earth movement appears to be growing

Is NASA covering up the truth? No

The trend is disturbing and I look forward to the day it goes down the other side of the curve. Of course, it will be replaced by the new "in-crowd" insanity. "Flat Earth? That's so 2016!"

Everyone cool knows the convex or concave, depending on using a human or "other" perspective, hollow earth theory is where it is at.

This guy has a few more stunning video revealations, I think someone posted one here on BallGrab awhile back that was even better than this one I just managed to discover through the miracle of an intar-tube goggle search.

(Thanks, btw,, whomever was the BallGrabber that originally posted a link to that guy's vidya, I found it to be most amusing)
