I suspect, 'coniving marriage wrecker' wouldn't go well when being introduced at banquets.

In that vein, Chuck was referred to as a widower after Diana's death. They were divorced before then. That was a craven get out by the commentators, because 'divorcee' didn't have the tone they tried to convey.

Quote from: Dr. MD MD on September 12, 2022, 12:02:51 AMWhat about the baby's rights?

So you're okay with girls who being the victims of rape and incest and women being raped made to give birth? You're okay with women who have miscarriages being unable to clear the feotus because guess what; The same drugs used for abortions are used in treating miscarriages too. How are you on the general ownership of women by christo fascists dressed up as legislators? I thought GOP were anti big government? Seems they are but will make an exception to control what women can and can't do with their own bodies. How about if men were forbidden to ejaculate because of all that sperm murder? Unfair?

The irony is they're so pro life up to the point of birth, then hey baby, you're on your own. Affordable childcare while your mother goes to work? Forget it. Been the victim of poverty? Tough. School can't put books in the library through fear of upsetting the Proud Boys who will burn them anyway? Those are the breaks.
I shouldn't complain about this fascist Supreme Court inspired 'agenda' because it will lose the election for the trumpers. And who will they blame then?

A mere setback. I watched the procession before I left for work this morning. What struck me was how many people were there. And the Cathedral is open all night to allow the mourners to pay their respects.

We'll never know but I wonder if the Queen knew her time was near and went to Balmoral to die, knowing that if she died in England, no way would she be taken back to Scotland.

Mike 'my pillow' Lindell's last store has closed in Minissota. He's still going to face Dominion voting systems in court who are suing him for defamation. The suit actually cites him defaming to boost sales of his pillows/slippers/crap.

However, it seems the former crack addict and former friend of drump, is looking at losing it all. His pillow sales have dropped faster than a grand piano down an elevator shaft and he's haemoraging money very quickly. The forthcoming litigation will finish him..then what? Drump bale him out? Unlikely.

The book title "Everything Trump touches, dies" is spot on.

Quote from: BobGrau on September 11, 2022, 03:49:25 PMAn English friend with a very distinctive accent (think Arnold Rimmer from Red Dwarf) went to University in Glasgow - he said he always carried a bottle of Buckie, so he could make friends with the various nutcases who wanted to kill him.

Isn't Buckfast that dreadful concoction, brewed by the monks at Buckfastleigh in Devon? That abbey took centuries to build with no more than about a dozen working on it at any one time..Though the time was probably more to do with the pious masons being to use the vernacular "Out of their tree".

Reminds me a little of one of SV's acquaintances; Hailed from Dumbarton or a similar forsaken hole. A thin, bearded bachelor, Crispen Gandoon his name, who I believe could speak several languages and versed in Ancient Greek. And no slouch in the arts of Taekwondo, Karate and Judo. Naturally a black belt second dan in all three. He also surprisingly (His father being a Presbyterian minister) drank like a fish, and Buckfast was his favourite tipple. I think that was the demise of the relationship with SV because being 'a light weight' SV either wouldn't nor could keep apace of the rapidly inebriating Crispin.

I also note that, despite your dubious paean to punctuality, HM is arriving in Edinburgh about half an hour late.  Everyone knows it was an illusion and they used to stop the clocks to avoid this kind of scandal, sad to see the old ways die out  :(

She died at her favourite residence and if the locals had had any desire to burn it down, they'd have done it by now.

I cannot explain the tardiness in getting her to Edinburgh 30 minutes later than expected. Perhaps a few of the tarten dressed subjects threw themselves in front of the convoy as a mark of respect?

Maybe you need the 'Cyber Ninjas' they were invited to AZ, and at great PUBLIC expense (that's taxpayers kids) 'audited' the results, looked for bamboo (don't ask) and discovered...<drum roll>.. Biden had MORE votes and drump FEWER than the last THREE recounts would suggest.

Maybe not Longshanks, but possibly Cullodin. The majority of Scots liked the Queen, as do most of the rest of the UK: They're just ambivelant to the ongoing prospect of the Royal family as a whole. Charles has made it known he's steering it to a smaller pool. After he's gone, maybe William will be the last?

Eh? He doesn't even pretend to have been in the military: if he did one might sympathise, but he is worse. He called it 'his' while simultainiously calling the fallen losers and suckers.

He has no redeeming qualities: him and his spawn stole money gifted to children with cancer. He had a few of his golfing buddies run the VA, of which they promptly creamed off.

He cynically had the widow of a Navy SEAL attend his first SOU address; the mission of which her husband died in, drump absolved himself all responsibility, even though he gave the go ahead.

Drump is shit. He and his cult are shit. They are the lowest of humanity. That they still support that effluent, that rancid septic boil says more about them then him. He can't help some of his psychosis, they are either too stupid to recognise it or complicit.

Quote from: Dr. MD MD on September 10, 2022, 09:19:52 PMYou forgot to mention Trump in this post. What a letdown! :(

But predictable. Neither he nor his spawn would muster either the intelligence, fortitude or courage to engage in anything so low market (in his esteem) as serving in the military: though it's rumoured Jr wanted to but Snr told him he'd be a loser if he did.

Indeed, Snr has expressed disdain for dead and imprisoned soldiers, sailors and airmen and women.

So no, he wasn't mentioned because he isn't fit to be put in the same paragraph or sentence as those aircrew where gallantry is mentioned.

Sir, must I wait until the conclusion of your Glorious Hundred Days to fuck the Swedes, or may I begin now?

Yours faithfully,
kdubb

The Swedes are a noble race, stymied somewhat by the sinking of 'Wasa' on her maiden voyage. However they came through with Saab and Volvo motorcars. Volvo it shouldn't be forgotten furnishing the entire industry with the airbag, of which they never requested royalties. Saab (ahh, I still feel the catapult linear propulsion of that full Garret turboe'd none cat, 2.0 CD 9000 Carlsson (one of only 10 made in that configuration)..

But I digress; latterly and only recently declassified, a flight of Saab Viggens came to the rescue of  crippled SR71 over the Baltic Sea. An engine down the Blackbird dropped considerable altitude and speed and was easy prey to a brace of Migs that had been dispatched to 'persuade' the crew to land in the then SU or be shot down.

The Viggens, at the time in the middle of an excercise and fully armed (as you do), threw on the coal and escorted the striken unarmed reconnaissence plane, and it is said rolled away from the Migs to give them a good look at the armament beneath their wings before assuming their escort positions. The Migs, presumably not wishing to initiate 'an incident' with the Swedes AND the USAF, themselves rolled away and headed home.

They stayed with her until she was over NATO territory until landing safely in Germany.

Several years later, the former crew of the SR71 and the Swedish pilots met for the first time, and the Swedes awarded US gallantry medals.. it had been secret all those years.
