Lisa Garr

This would be a fascinating discussion if Dr. Mark Starr didn't constantly end his sentences in upspeak (upward inflection). It's a very adolescent way to talk and annoying to listen to.

yumyumtree

I agree but you hear plenty if it on talk radio, even from adult men, even hosts sometime. This is one of the reasons I don't listen to Billy Cunningham any more.

OK, I'm going to say some things here that may get me blasted, but I'd rather talk about these things than Lisa Garr's tits, and I think these things need to be said......

I wanna talk about boobies.

I just can't even bring myself to tune in.

The show looks like a real turd tonightr.
I left the radio on in the kitchen purposely.  This way every time I wander in to cook, do dishes, grab a rag or pour a drink (the portions that I have caught made them all doubles so far) I hear the crapfest that is Coast.

So far I have heard how damaging vaccines are, that homeopathy helpful in the "environmental medicine" field and that 50% of the population suffers from thyroid problems.  I think anytime I hear that something affects 50% of the population my quack meter goes off.  Add to that the fact that symptoms are rashes, baldness, low energy, sore muscles or joints (and I think breathing) and you have yourself a pandemic.  Quick Dr... Help me!

How sad it is that even a different host cannot help coast.

Different host won't help because the subject matters remain the same: New Age crap and Medical mumbo jumbo and snake oil salesmen/women. Lisa Garr is the worst of the lot. New Age Medical Mumbo Jumbo is her specialty. What boring drivel. Go away Lisa Garr.

I wish Gal In Black had an AV.

I'm sick of these depressing C2C shows. I know the guest Kain was positive and if her beliefs keep her that way I'm all for it but to me it sounded like a very sad situation of a mom not being able to cope with the reality of her daughter's condition.

Coast to Coast is NOT about HYPOTHYROIDISM........!!!!!!   :o

I DEPLORE THESE "MEDICAL" SHOWS THAT NOORY DOES......AND NOW GARR???  UGH.

VtaGeezer

Every time C2C puts one of these pseudo-medical phonies on the air, some gullible listener foregoes necessary and proven treatment, or decides their kids won't get measles vaccine so they can become latter day carriers.  AFAIK, this ignorance/fear exploitation that contradicts medical science should be banned like child porn.

Thank you.
I have a sneaking suspicion that may the real reason their marriage broke up. I hope that she at least let him continue to see Lorrin, but as I said, something about this woman rubbed my fur the wrong way. She actually reference the website Lorrinsworld as "the company", which technically I guess it is, since its a dotcom. Otherwise it would be a dot org. This suggests that she wants to make money, not that there's anything wrong with that. Except maybe in this case there is.

Four solid hours of hypothyroidism on a Saturday night.

The size of Ms. Garr's boobs has absolutely no redeeming quality for me at all. I venture to say that will be true for at least 50% of Coast's audience.  ::)
Lisa's boobs?  Hmmm, never seen enough of them.  But Teri's boobs!  MMMMMM.  I'll be back.

BTW, to this second guest--I would not give a plug nickel for Pres. Kennedys doctor. If its the one I'm thinking if, he was along the lines of Elvis and Michael Jackson's doctors. I believe both him and Jackie were getting injected with a cocktail of speed, vitamins and Goodness-knows-what.
Any more of this Garr thread and I'd like an intro to Jacks dr.   I'll take  a hit of what ol' Jack was taking.  His stamina was legendary....with a bad back, too.  Jackstar, if I score some of this heinous shit, I'll share it with you.

Could you imagine an Art show on this garbage?

"Hello caller, you are on the air."
"Hi Art. I have the answer to what's behind ALL of the global conspiracies, alien invasions, mythical creatures, and government dysfunction.... It's.... Oh, I can't say it..."
"Go ahead, caller."
"Well... Okay.... It's all caused by HYPOTHYROIDISM!"

Her topics are not for me but I can respect sticking with what you know.

Also, you know damn well George has to do this because there is no other way any reasonable person would put him in front of a camera.

Just an update--I obtained Karen Kain's book , A Unique Life Fully Lived, and she seems about as flaky as she sounded on the show, more so even. Something ain't right there. Even some of the circumstances surrounding Lorrin's initial reaction to the vaccination are curious. So I'm wondering if part of the problem may have been due to her failure to seek medical attention quickly enough. The book is frustrating to read because of vagueness and things left out. I think it may be self-published and could have done with some better editing.

Karen Kain never met a Newage practice she didnt like--sweat lodges, Tarot cards, dolphin therapy, you name it. If you saw a character like this in a movie, you'd think it was over the top.  The subtitle could have been "Shopaholic Has a Disabled Child". She thinks nothing of dropping $800 on a party dress because she claims it the dress that Lorrin told her, with eye blinks, that she wanted. She does frequent battle with the people managing Lorrin's trust. I think that they were also getting money from the government too, though that is one of the many things she is vague about. You can imagine how her spending habits went over with the court. She even got Lorrin's hair colored in the salon--numerous times. And we wonder why CA is going broke.

Her husband Tom, Lorrin's dad, died a few years before Lorrin. Whether it was suicide, an accidental drug overdose or what, I don't know. Karen did claim that he had been stealing one of Lorrin's anti-seizure meds to get high. Pretty heavy accusation and the man is conveniently not here to defend himself.

All in all, these parents put me in mind of the parents of little Jessica, the 7 year old who died in Cheyenne WY trying to break an aviation record. Remember her? Or ballon dad. I swear some of new Age parents should be sterilized.

This smells "fishy" to me. I don't know of any seizure medication that will give someone a high.

Benzodiazepines are used, usually in an emergency situation, to stop a seizure. Decades ago barbiturates were used, but rarely now. And barbiturates aren't a great high.

But they are quite addictive, aren't they?

Which is why I aint into western medicine.

She claimed he stole the drug. Maybe I interpolated the "get high" part. I'll look up the name of the drug when I get home. I think it started with A. I think that's a brand name, not a generic name.

From p. 53 of A Unique Life Fully Lived--

"...once we got home, Lorrin went into a long seizure. When I hurried to the refrigerator to get her IV Ativan, I was shocked. The refrigerator was empty. I had been home one day. I didn't even notice it was missing. Tom had drank(sic) at least ten boxes of the medication while we had been staying at the hospital. There was nothing left to give her to stop the seizures."

She also alleges he was an alcoholic.

I meant barbiturates, as exemplified by old style sleeping pills.

As it turns out benzos are given for some... so much for what I know.

However I also read this:
QuoteIn general, benzodiazepines are not usually the first choice for long-term treatment of epilepsy. Although clonazepam or clorazepate may be quite helpful for a few people, most people do not respond very well to them over the long term.

I have no idea how "sick" Lorrin is. But I suspect if an IV is in place for administering Ativan, she is very sick.

In general, benzos are very effective medications for treating anxiety. Their mechanism for working is similar to stronger sedatives but (and this is important) at higher doses benzos are much less likely to suppress breathing. However they also build up toxic levels over a fairly short time frame, 2-3 weeks.

Taking too much of a benzo puts a patient at risk for the very thing being treated, seizures. That is what gave me the double take.

As far as the husband, well anyone can be a dirtbag. And benzos are a very nice high, so there is that.

Lorrin is no longer with us. She died in 2009, at the age of 15.  She had lots of seizures from the age of six weeks on, as a result of vaccine from a "bad batch." She also had cortical blindness and breathed through a trach tube. She wore diapers. She was pretty much paralyzed, though her mother claims she moved her hands a bit. She was frail and subject to pneumonia.

It seems curious that he would drink something meant to be put in an IV. At the very least, it would probably taste terrible.
