I am a registered Republican as of 2018, not because of Trump, but because my vote had lesser value/usefulness as an Independent.  Any "retribution" for so-called "political opponents"  is a tactic used by Communists beginning in the late 1800s and certainly in Russia in 1917.  The Nazis did retaliate using similar tactics but those were a result of the harshness to Germany resulting from the Treaty of Versailles, and several attempts by Communists to overthrow the government.

What we have now are essentially a mix of Marxist/Maoist Communists who threaten retribution against the American people for being white, nationalist, Republican, or whatever they consider "anti" Democracy".   This has gone so far now that they have stolen an election because they were not able to install Clinton in 2016 to accomplish their pre-set goals (created by Obama).

If it comes to physical retaliation, it will be met with a continuingly hostile response which is likely to involve armed resistance.  Since we may no longer have any means of regress while being attacked.  It will essentially be a Communist overthrow of the USA.
