David Jacobs? back so soon?

I hope its a mistake. Jacobs is crazy and completely unbelievable. Don't quite understand why he gets so much apparent respect and homage by Art.

I still listen, I have hope. dwindling hope but hope nonetheless. Hoaxland can be a hoot, we all know right?

right?

Hoagland is ok when he has an intelligent guest and keeps his pie hole closed. Other than that, he is stupidly delusional.

A person can receive 99 positive comments about themselves, yet they will always remember the 1 negative comment.

I enjoy Art. I have no reason to disbelieve him. I allow him the benefit of the doubt regarding his claims. However, nothing OBLIGATES myself, or anyone else to agree with him if they choose not to do so. I sincerely hope Art would agree.

***DISCLAIMER*** - Slander and/or liable, obviously, is not a behavior I am endorsing.

Excellent post. I agree 100%. I respect Art and am damn glad he is on the air, but dont agree with him on some topics at all.

I don't think he realized when he made that commercial that calling Hoaxland a personal friend would not be a plus.

Exactly. Doesn't really know the lay of the land. Also thinks uri gellar is real, and likes Greer. Pretty much invalidates his ability to think clearly.

I've never listened to him but he seems to have a strong following. Is he paranormal, etc? If so, I vote for Hughes taped or Bateman live

Hughes is an amateur with a big voice. Listen to his nauseating commercial and you will get the picture.

Hoagland, for the love of God, stop fucking interrupting your guests!!! You successfully fucked up Christopher Dunn's interview. At times you are much worse than Noory. You don't have to constantly interrupt people that are perfectly capable of telling their stories.
You are a self absorbed egomaniac. I know this isn't news to anyone.

I don't remember Art's audio obsession as being quite so bad back in the day. He used to grumble about crappy cellphones now and again, but it has become a tic with him now, cutting off callers quite ruthlessly if there is even a fairly small glitch on the line. Perhaps it's my imagination, but whenever I hear a caller on Skype it will almost certainly be a bad call, with the caller droning on about nothing for too long and Art not cutting them off fast enough, seemingly because he just likes the quality of the audio. There's some east coast type who keeps getting on, and I haven't heard him make one decent point yet. Perhaps the callers were always pretty useless, but it seems to have got worse on the new show.
Not to mention his self assured know it all dismissal of people that dont agree with him. That lady that called in about Travis Walton is a case in point. She made good points, Art couldnt or didnt want to comprehend what she said. I did, she was clear as a bell on Walton. I suppose it comes with age. I shouldnt be so harsh because I do the same thing. It is just a different Art Bell this time around, some better, some worse. I still love him though.

It brought the show to a grinding halt.  Skype calls usually do too. I'd ditch it for listeners.
Only ground to a halt because an issue was made of it. Makes me wonder how Art survives on 75 meter ssb

Dear Art,

Please endeavor to get over your audio obsession. Your constant interruptions pointing out minor audio glitches are far worse than the problem itself !!!

I think MichaelfromVA, and correct me if I'm wrong MVA, meant that it was bizarre because it wasn't bizarre.

That's a bizarre guest.  I wonder why Art chose her.  Hmm...will have to listen and see how he works his magic with her. :)
Bizarre, seriously? I think its a great idea. Jacobs was bizarre, bordering on stupid. A professional cave diver is anything but bizarre.

Here's one that gets me every time he mentions it…

I love how everyone asks him if he's seen this or read this or heard this etc. nearly every time, his answer sound something like "I just don't have the time because the show is taking up all of my time etc. "

That answer always confounds me. How in the fuck can a two hour show about nothing most nights take up all of his waking hours? I guess there is certainly some preparation or behind the scenes planning going on but Jesus fucking Christ the show isn't produced well enough to  demand that kind of time  from someone.  I work in an extremely high stress environment. You'll just have to take my word for it but I'm used to juggling about 20 projects simultaneously as well as a family and I still have time to watch porn and post bullshit on this website . Richard claiming that he doesn't have any time for anything except for this lackluster podcast is an insult to people who work .

Every day is Labor day for a self important pussie like him

If Hoagland puts on good show, how much does it really matter if he's an asshole?
Excellent point. He is an asshole. He can't seem to help himself, him and his broke ass accutron watch. How can anyone make a career from a broken watch? I honestly feel sorry for him, and his physics.... whatever the hell that is. I listened to the show where he was going to explain it, didn't happen.

I've been flip flopping around the idea that he's actually intelligent (past interviews prove it) but he now has to maintain this Mars crap because it was his bread & butter for so long.   Even if that is true, it's pretty reprehensible.
Yes, I agree. Appears to be his Achilles heel. His own overblown opinion of himself wont allow for the possibility that he is hallucinating when he sees structures in rock piles. I wonder about the other guys that are going along with all this. At some point you would think sanity would take hold.

has to be more then just us at Bellgab that has rioted against him
Basically anyone with a functional brain would riot against Hoagland. It is too bad really. I have always hated him, but then got sucked into listeining to him. Shockingly, he has done a few decent interviews, but..... his arrogance and his constant pull of "the physics" out of his torsion field ass is beyond sickening.
Dick, buddy, if you read this, wake the hell up boy. You could have a career if you rein in your physics and get a good pair of glasses to look at the ROCKS on Mars. Throw away your broke ass Accutron, buy a Timex, stop hallucinating, and use the interview skills you have to keep the bus on the road. You have done some outstanding interviews, like the Tarzan woman, and the guy that escaped the Nazis in South America. But then there is the rest, the circle jerk Mars shows you have had recently reinforce my personal disdain for you.
You do have a choice.

I dont believe a word Jacobs says. His delivery is just too damn glib for someone bringing news that we are all being replaced by "them"

Wow, I'm surprised a (mostly) intelligent bunch like this one keeps beating on Leo.  Not that he doesn't deserve some of it.  But calling the guy mentally ill and listing all his symptoms, based solely on some internet posts, is a hasty generalization.  On top of that the incessant chant of "the guy doesn't know how to pronounce anything" is a bit of a stretch.  Really not fact but personal opinions of liking his delivery style or not.  IMO a Toemato vs. Tamato argument.

In short the hyperbole is way over the top. (But isn't it always that way on Bellgab?)  Art has clarified his point of view succinctly so there are no misunderstandings.  Therefore I vote on moving the conversation along to something more constructive.

Speaking of which Art, how about Rich Little as the news guy?   8)

Sorry but not pronouncing words correctly IS a big deal, and not at all a stretch. There were times when every other sentence had a mispronounced common word or two. There is a right and wrong way to pronounce words, especially proper names like Beyonce. What hole has he been living in to not know that one? Seriously. Dont defend this ass wipe, you are on the wrong forum.

This whole incident is a pimple on the ass of progress. I am glad he is gone. Didn't like it at all, especially all of the botched pronunciations, gave it that disingenuous quality, like he didn't understand a damn thing he read. I honestly thought at one time it was a robot.

You need to catch up, he has ranted that Art has ripped him off and alot of other stupid shit.
Glad Leo is gone. The man couldnt pronounce common words correctly. He belongs on a second rate show like C2C, where mediocrity is celebrated.

Reading back a few pages, I see proof positive that there are different strokes for different folks.  I loved tonight's show!

Boy, you guys are hard to please. Wait til Art gets enough of the constant criticism and throws in the towel.  That's when there will be weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth.   ::)

No kidding. A nice big cup of shut the hell up is in order.

With all of the mispronunciations by Leo Ashcraft, it is my considered opinion that he is a hubrid. Art , you are helping with the assimilation by employing illegal aliens.

I feel as though Prof J is disingenuous. The tone of his voice is not very serious . I wonder if he is perpetrating a hoax with all this?
If I were saying the things he did, I wouldn't come across like an adolescent.

Disease. Ignorant. Please explain how it was that you came to be the sole arbiter of truth and wisdom? Did you respond to an ad on Craigslist? Mail in a coupon from a box of cereal?
I am not responding past this. You apparently cant read.

Disease? Interesting word choice.

Every NDE I've read through include details that clearly indicate a dream reality. Streets of gold. Angelic beings. The caller who said Jesus and her Grandpa were trying to send her back to her body. These are obvious components of a dream state.

I will give you that there are imposed cultural elements in many NDEs. Many may even be fake, many could be hallucinations, however the sheer numbers coupled with the order and meaning preclude, at least for me, the notion that they are all hallucinations of some sort.

Yes, disease is an interesting word choice, maybe not the best, but it's hard to come up with a label for people that are willfully ignorant, and choose to ignore things just because it doesn't fit in their idea of what life is all about. Not saying I know, just saying NDES are pretty compelling.

You're the one getting emotional. I offered an alternate explanation. Believe what you want.
Seriously, that's all you got? What alternative explanation....oh, wait, you mean the one that has already been thouroughly studied and debunked?  All combiinations of anesthetics, causes of trauma, etc have no correlation with NDE.
The central theme to NDE's, the overarching theme, is the inherent order, logic and meaning of what happens. Its not a phantasm of the brain.
Dont at all get why you think I am emotional, calm statement of fact. Just trying to help debunk scientific reductionist thinking. I am a scientist, interact with many other scientists on a daily basis and know this disease well. Its central theme is the notion that everything can be explained away using known physical processes. This is simply not the case, but as you said, believe what you want.

Art,

Listened to climate show. Dont really care to be told that "this guy knows what he is talking about". While he may be a scientist in this field, his ideas and statements are his interpretations, not necessarily fact. Some may be, I dont know. I do know there are other scientists in this field that would disagree with some of his apparent facts. I know you want to believe the "settled science" theory. I dont. Its not the way of real science to make proclamations like this. Why not have a guest scientist that is on the other side of the debate, and it is a debate. There are kool-aide drinkers on both side of this issue.
