I really really really hate to say this, but im enjoying RCH more than Art lately.
I NEVER thought i would say that
Wont quite go that far, but RCH has surprised me. If he would only give up on his mindless "physics" remarks, and stop acting like a puppet master, he could be great. I am almost throwing up in my mouth writing this due to my past hatred for him. Its still there mainly because of his nutty physics and seeing structures where there are none.

Or you are so invested in the subject matter that you can't handle when someone disagrees. I studied brain science as an undergrad. I've forgotten more than you know.
You have no idea who I am or what I know. You didn't address any specifics whatsoever, you just threw down that its all so easily explainable. Bullshit.

NDES can be easily explained as false memories formed after being resuscitated. The evidence gathered by Long is anecdotal and not very compelling. The fact that he readily accepts these stories as evidence of life after death is laughable. It shows you that he isn't really interested in science or medicine.
It is sad that you have such an incredibly narrow-minded opinion about this topic. Your proclamation is nonsense, utter nonsense. It is more than nonsense, it is insulting. Obviously you either have not taken the time to seriously investigate this yourself, or you simply arent able to interpret the evidences given.

Grandpa and Jesus saved caller from the "Light". Yeah no way that was a dream.

Here's a skeptical discussion of Dr Long's research

http://www.skeptiko.com/jeffrey_long_takes_on_critics_of_evidence_of_the_afterlife/
its not really a skeptical article, it's a rebuttal of skeptics by Dr. Long. It is almost sad to read some of the nonsense some big name scientists have babbled about NDES. Carl Sagan once proclaimed authoritatively that NDEs were replays of birth... Right Carl.

I couldn't make it through much of this.. Alright Art. You believe in God, afterlife whatever you want to call it. I get it. All the materialists/atheists/scientists are dumb and stupid. Right. When it comes to these NDE shows nothing is ever answered or solved, same old thing.

I'm becoming too cynical in my old age, and having listened to paranormal radio whether Art or whoever for so long nothing comes across as new or groundbreaking as far as this topic goes

And thinking the mind DOES play tricks and spring forth illusions conjured up from our everyday lives and past memories just makes too much sense to me personally.. given the alternative speculation.

I'm not knocking Art or MITD or anything, I'm just saying there is too much of one side in a not so very one sided topic and every time someone leans to the contrary to Art's beliefs he gets somewhat defensive. Not surprising that Dr.Long basically just tells Art what he wants to hear here for the most part. Of-course you will get that when you interview somebody from a non-scientific viewpoint.

I think you are showing  your ignorance if you think there are valid reductionist scientific arguments against NDES . These alleged arguments don't exist. If you think they do, bring them out and we will see.

Dayton, OH. Pretty much. Part of me wonders if Dayton is such a shit place because all the NAZIS that were scooped up by Operation Paperclip may have clustered around the base. There's such a German/Eastern Euoprean influence there it'd be easy for NAZI war criminals to hide. And then Wright Patt is right there.

This is based on nothing. Pure speculation. But yeah Dayton sucks.

At least it has the Hamvention

Even though I am wholeheartedly skeptical of NDE's....I loved the show....and loved the time in this thread.

Cheers all!

Exactly what are you skeptical of ? The ultimate explanation or the fact that they exist regardless of explanation? I have been studying the NDE phenomena since Raymond Moody was a pup and it is probably the most objective phenomena out there that supports the notion of "life" outside the confines of the physical body.

Mrs Duke has been a cardiac intensive care nurse for almost forty years.  She has never had a paranormal experience on the job nor ever had a patient who crashed who talked about an NDE.  To her knowledge it's the same story for her medical colleagues.
That is very weird. Not saying I don't believe you, just that it is inconceivable to me that in 40 years not a single person said anything. Perhaps its the area you live in, a collection of closed mouth Stoics.

You had a right to be upset.  I'd be pissed.  What kind of authority is she?  Plus, that's not how you handle things regardless.  :-\

I don't understand the apparent outrage. What should the nurse have said?  It is a part of life. Perhaps the nurse did indeed sense the presence of the person. Perhaps that was her way of trying to help. Perhaps the nurse was trying to give the idea that death isnt the end.Too many people have the idea that death is something wrong.

Thanks for posting this jaz!!  :)

So now we have it or do we?...I mean all of it? How does this fit into the "shock, hate & sorry" ? Why did Art encourage signing up as a TT before this announcement? ...anyone get this?

I'm really glad to see a dedicated YT channel and the potential for thousands of stations to be able to pick up the feed!!

What I don't get is how does the ability for any station to pick up the MITD stream help Art, Keith et all, financially relative to MITD? I would assume that there would be a contract & financials? ...does anyone in the business know?

More is better, more ad revenue potentials. Seems pretty obvious to me. Also the TT thing will do nothing but go up, and it is a revenue stream. As far as the shock, hate and sorry, well gee, if I were Dave and just saw my audience vanish, I would feel all those emotions.

I feel underwhelmed by this announcement.  I'm thinking there's another bigger announcement coming tonight...otherwise this has been anticlimactic.

4000 potential radio stations is a big deal. Or, were you hoping that Knapp would hop on board?

Big kudos to Art for suggesting that people "check it out" before believing BS stories on sites like BEFOREITSNEWS.  People should realize that it's common for jerks to post nonsense on those sites just to yank gullible people's chains.

You mean that if its on the internet, it doesn't have to be real?  Get out...........

I have the perfect test for detecting PK . It involves using a high resolution mass spectrometer, the kind that are readily available at most universities and drug companies. The idea is simple. You infuse a reference compound and let it scan, recording the detected mass. This can easily be recorded for hours and very minute changes in mass can be detected and recorded. Now bring in Mr. or Ms. PK and ask him or her to deflect the mass. If it happens , it will be detected and recorded. These instruments are capable of extremely high resolution and this all happens in a high vacuum. I am a professional mass spectrometrist myself and trust me, there in no way to fake this sort of test.
I have wanted to do this for a long time, but have no access to anyone with PK abilities. The beauty of this method is that it can be done without any special preparation by the mass spectrometer operator. It is something we do frequently as a regular part of the job. Only thing different is the person skulking around trying to deflect the ions.

Jeez, relax I did not say I was leaving I was just pointing out to those of you who wrote that you thought I might leave because of a few critics. I have never cared what people say about what I do or experiment with. I was trying to point out what is important to me and what is not.

Art

Art,

If you only worked a couple days a week I believe it would be fine for most. Just knowing that you would be there occasionally would be a panacea. Honestly , your family is more important than radio, if it comes to that someday. I'm sure you already know what I'm saying. A certain number of loudmouths would throw a rod, but nothing is forever. I do hope you are on in some capacity as long as you want to be. Real, supportive fans should feel no different and be supportive.

Pure and utter bullshit.  You're completely missing the point of his comment.  What Paulides was trying to say is, the government is conspiring to hide the truth from the public.  Ergo, "they" (the government) don't want "us" (the people) to know.

Bottom line:  What he's trying to say is, this is a matter that needs to come up from the grassroots.  There's no point in crying like babies to the government expecting them to address this issue.  They're in on it!  The people need to address this issue themselves.

Why do so many people (such as yourself) think the government has the answer to every problem out there?!  There isn't a problem the good old government can't fix.

How pathetic.

Just because you call bullshit dont make it so Jack. His answer about this question was extremely weak. He goes to a congressman to ask about an old case. Gee wow. Why in the hell didnt he go after the core issue of why they wont release things in general????? A more generic solution!!! That would have made sense. Sorry, but Paulides motives remain somewhat of a mystery to me. I personally dont like his evasive tone to questions about his theories about what is going on. Why hasnt he pursued Congress or remote viewers or psychics? I dont know. If I were he, these would be at the top of my list. What appears to be at the top of his list is mystery and book publishing. I have heard him many times, and my alarms go off. This is not to say that I dont believe all the mystery disappearances arent real, or that he hasnt made efforts to investigate. All I am saying....and what the guy you shit on is saying is that he hasnt pursued the obvious as hard as he has pursued book publishing.

Billboards on interstates near major cities. Most people drive or know someone that drives. I am thinking I70 near St. Louis, a few major intersections near Chicago 80/90 and I94. The sheer number of people that drive in these areas either working in these areas or traveliing through is staggering. Its hard to go east or west without going through one of these two places. Pretty big bang for your buck Art, and you can easily control how much and when.

'myes, much as I revere the old boy, I don't think this is one of his best ideas - "Baba Belly!"

That does rather run the risk of conflating Art with all the other tedious shock jock types, and that's not what he's about, thank goodness. Well, all have bad ideas now and again, no harm no foul. I think we are witnessing Art's Alpha personality chafe a bit at doing something that isn't drawing a huge audience. I'm sure he was perfectly sincere before about doing a show that was 'smaller but better' than the other guy, but I guess he has his game face on now and wants to search and destroy. If he wants to do that, I don't think he has any other option than to bite on a towel and do some deal with the dark side of AM radio. The Art Bell of old managed to shape a generation (I don't think that's an overstatement) about the paranormal, and I suppose he wants to be talked about again, not unreasonably. For all that people say that podcasting is the future, if you want to get talked about you still need to be in the mainstream media, in some way. Even Stern, who was supposedly happy broadcasting to three men and a dog on Sirius, started getting the itch and had to do a talent show so that people noticed him again.

Yes, I agree. It is a bad idea. I wish that there was some clarification about this drive to expand, is it because the show is on shaky ground, or is it just the desire to get bigger?
